Reviews

[Drew Canole]

Still lots of fun, but unfortunately doesn't add much to the worldbuilding. Most of just little snippets of Gert being a monster.

Lots of fantastic artwork. The Gabriel Ba/Fabio Moon piece is great, but not even a particular stand-out among all these great artists.

[Matthew Ward]

Nothing crazy great in this one, but quite a few really fun stories. This world works very well for an anthology of stories like this was.

This was very fun and I loved having different authors and artists contribute to this collection!

[Penny Geard]

Since this is a compilation of stories by different creators, it's pretty varied in what you get. Some good stories, some not-so-good stories, and nothing that will really stick with me, but it was fun enough.

Y no, no estoy tan mayor. Eso era mi nivel de entusiasmo.

This truly does not need to exist. I was an... interesting time and such a mixed bag. If this becomes a series I really don't know if I'll continue with it.

read for the graphicsathon holiday cramathon!

The flashy, detailed cover art called to me as I browsed my local library's shelves. Unfortunately, the cover art was the best it was going to get (well, there is the collection of covers at the back and they, too, are amazingly illustrated).

As someone who has never heard of I Hate Fairyland, this was not the best way to get into the series. It's a collection of really short gags (it feels unfair to call some of them stories) with in your-face-oh-so-gross-but-so-funny-Internet-humor. And yes, in the middle of it, there is one semi-serious story that seems to explore the backstories of these characters that are not featured anywhere else in this collection.

There was one beautifully detailed Mad Max-parody which I liked to look at. Perhaps the fans, or those who at least know the series, get more out of it.

I'm gettin' bored, man. You wanna come over and play G.I. Joes?

Skottie Young cites the above quote from Talladega Nights as the inspiration to work with other illustrators on fleshing out some of the missing stories from the original series.

Ever wonder how Gert bested the assasain Bruud the Brutal from Volume 1? You will find it here, along with many other stories, now infused the pens of newer artists!

If there were any author with a distinct style from Young's that had to take over the main series, my vote would go with Dean Rankine - a number of entries are his and the stories feel well represented in his format.

Untold Stories of I Hate Fairyland expands on Gertrude's wild adventures, offering side stories and alternate takes on her chaotic misadventures in the bizarre and violent world of Fairyland. These tales delve deeper into the absurdity of the fantasy realm, showcasing even more of the dark humor and twisted fun that define the series.

This collection offers fresh, hilarious, and brutal new layers to the I Hate Fairyland saga, packed with the same irreverent charm and stunning artwork. It's a fantastic addition to Fairyland's unhinged madness.

If you love I Hate Fairyland you will love this anthology.

Everything from the artwork to the storytelling was top notch.

It really brought back all I loved about the first volume of the I Hate Fairyland comics.

Some stories were more to my taste than others and I did enjoy some of the artwork more than others, but all together still a 5/5 highly recommended volume.

I would love to see more of this.

So much fun to be back in I Hate Fairyland's world, and seeing what Gert was up to during her 30 years stuck there!
Some panels were confusing, but overall a great time!
TW for violence, blood, gore, decapitation, death of a horse, adult/sex jokes, drug mentions, alcohol mentions, murder.

[Heidi]

I can’t believe I’ve read the whole fluffing series. And enjoyed it. You may totally question my taste and judgement in books. But if you’re in touch with your inner teenager you migh like the puerile humor too.

I love seeing different comics artists (some of them I already loved from reading their own works) take a shot at drawing and writing a story for Gert. Really recommended if you finished the original series and wanted a little bit more.

[Alex Sarll]

As so often, the oblique anthology format was a much better continuation idea than the full-on sequel.

[Farah Tarek]

I love them ..well the change of style was less amazingly detailed but none the less refreshing

[Alana]

It's an anthology with other writers and artists. Of course it'll be hit or miss. But I also know I'm often over I Hate Fairyland so I'm trying to take that into my account with the rating.

Enjoy!

[Josh]

It's an anthology so it's all short segments of varying quality. But it's still Fairyland.

[Matthew Harwood]

A fun collection of short stories from one of my favourite graphic novel series. Filled with humour and violence this is an enjoyable quick read to get an extra dose of the world of fairyland.

[James]

Some very amusing tales. Getting lost in their imaginations. Some of best toned-down expletive strings that I've ever read.

[Thomas]

A fun collection of stories from the I Hate Fairyland universe!

[Brylliams]

B+/85 (Good/Respectable) 3.5 Stars rounded down

[Adam]

love this stuf

so fluffing awesomeness, drawing, art work, themes, story line, all great & a fun read. a fun ride into fairyland

[Cadavercide]

A collection of short side stories from the multiverse(?) of fairyland. Some were better then others.

[Devin Araujo]

I love this universe.

[Shaun Brady]

Too many stories, would have liked less and more expanded versions of the good ones.

[Julia Dwyer]

Really fun. Brought back some backstories and characters I didn’t think I’d se again

[Magnus Bergström]

Very varying quality in the stories, of course. But a lot of them are also quite pointless even for a light anthology.
