FRIDAY NIGHT LIES
His name starts with a H. So does happiness. Heartbreak. Home. Hoops. All things I associate with him.Ever since my family moved in across the street when we were both kids, Holden Adams has been that guy. My first crush. My former confidante. My best friend’s brother. He’s the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.
I love him.
I hate him.
One of those is a lie. I’m just...not sure which.
TUESDAY NIGHT TRUTHS
She’s been part of my life since we were kids. The girl who grew up across the street. The responsible, straight-A student destined for success. My little sister’s best friend.
Nothing like my reckless, impulsive self.
But Cassia Nolan has always been my calm in the midst of chaos. All that centers me, besides basketball. I fought falling for her; it happened anyway.
Growing older is supposed to involve getting wiser. But me? I keep making the same mistakes. And when the start of our senior year of college reveals some shocking truths, our relationship looks more fragile than ever.
Letting her go sounds impossible. There’s a saying about that…and things you love.

I never read Friday Night Lies, but it had been on my list to read. So I bought the Duet and I thought maybe I will pause between the two books. But it wasn't in the cards for me. I ached with Cassia a lot, I don't know how I got to sleep at night, I wanted to know what would happen right away... It was a great love story, a true rollercoaster of emotions. I really enjoyed reading it until the very last page. I thought 615 pages would be okay, that I would have time, but it was not enough, the pages ran away so quickly... It was very sweet!
I usually love the author’s books but this one was a fail. I really dislike Cassia who doesn’t have any spine and accept so many unacceptable things from Holden. She is so different from the other feminine characters written by the author. I m disappointed
damn they couldn't catch a break but i guess that's real life ??? bc things happen unexpectedly. but since this was a book and i read to escape reality the number of incidents happen in this book made me just want to finish it asap. so it was just ok for me i was hooked at first bc i loveddddd a few books from this author and loved the book about the other high school to college couple so i had high hopes but they weren't met. anyway i saw a review that said the second book did not need to happen and imo it kinda did bc i felt the unbalance in the first book and i wasn't certain they were gonna last after college and ofc when the second book started they were on rocky terms and cassia realised the unbalance herself (which!!!! i understand holden didn't intentionally made it like that like??? idk couldn't he just reassure her more?) so yeah also if i were their friends or even their peers i would get soooo tired of them so fast bc they're kinda annoying and the number of times holden says he's possessive over cassia is a little uhhhhhh but yeah! it was just ok to me i guess i enjoyed it but wouldn't rr it again
It just wasn’t for me. The duet is a fun concept in getting to see the main characters as high schoolers then fast forward to senior year of college, but I did find reading the smut weird being over 30 when the characters were 17. Then in part 2 I got irritated with how much drama was stirred with no action. It’s a lot of rumors and swirling secrets and bad decisions, topped off with angst. The FMC and MMC tend to have the same inner monologue of struggling to trust, hiding a secret, the MMC makes some major mistakes, but nothing really comes out of it and they don’t evolve very much over the 4 years we know them. There’s a sweet HEA, but it just wasn’t worth the 600 pages to get there so it’s a no for me.
I’ve read several books by this author and have enjoyed them. This one was very good as well, and I always find myself getting invested in the characters right away. Cassia and Holden had their ups and downs but I enjoyed how they supported and encouraged each other. Lots of drama and emotions in these 2 books but an enjoyable read!
A very well written sports romance. I hated Holden but then I loved him and understood him and as much as i loved Cassia sometimes her insecurities got the best of her and it was annoying to see. But all in all I enjoyed reading their journey to a HEA and hope that Holden's sister gets her own book. I'm gonna keep an eye out for that.
I hate when someone is killed off. I really liked that person and I'm tired of books that kill off people. The romance in the first part was nuts. Up and down and Cassia was a very confused person as to what she wanted. The second half was more interesting reading but still someone has to die. I liked the second half because they acted more grown up.
I’m not going to lie. C.W. Farnsworth’s books stay with me long after I’ve finished them. This one missed the shot, which made me sad for Holden. I wanted him to have it all - going pro, claiming Cassia along with the happy ending. He should have made the professional league, just like all the main male characters in her other books. He deserved it.
