Michael Brookes is a Game Consultant with Frontier Foundry so rather than making games he now helps publish other people's games. He is also a volunteer and committee member with the German Shepherd Dog Welfare Fund assisting mostly with their online activities. And because he decided that he isn't busy enough has various other projects on the go including a website attempting to chronicle the history of his local village and using AI art tools to illustrate a new edition of John Milton's Paradise Lost.
At first, I thought this was a straight FBI-esque 'everybody on the ground' style thriller.
Fine, I thought, I'll go for a bit of flash bang action, why not?
Then it got going, and the action ramped up, and the twists kept coming.
This is a dark and well written tale and not at all what you're expecting (forgive the vagueness but to tell you any more would involve terrible spoilers).
And at £1.99 for a fully augmented, full cast audio drama? I jumped at the chance and was very impressed.
This is a really impressive and atmospheric horror story. The pacing is quick attention-grabbing. It draws you in further and further as the story goes on, and as it creeps into its uncomfortable moments it only serves to latch on to you harder. The sound effects and voice acting are done very professionally too - they add to the story in a big way.
Overall a very original and imaginative horror piece.
I really enjoyed this story in An Odd Quartet so when I saw it had been released as an audio book I knew I needed it. The written story had a strong claustrophobic sense and if anything the audio version is even more so.
Again I thoroughly enjoyed it and have listened to it several times now,
