RUMINATIONS in stories, essays, and poems accumulated during the author’s journey in writing over fifty years, spanning the Vietnam War, a legal career—time was spent staring out the window and imagining—and travels either alone or with his wife and family, and observing people, places, and things around him, including a freight train crossing a street intersection in a west Texas town.
After having read and enjoyed James Garrison's prior three novels, I was delighted to add this latest book to my list. This author has a wonderful ability to pull the reader into a scene with just a few words on the page; whether hitchhiking to see a girlfriend, patrolling the steamy fields and jungles of Vietnam, visiting oil fields and refinery plants, arguing in corporate boardrooms or dreaming of time in a lover's bedroom. His dialog is excellent, whether between two friends or in the mind of the narrator. This collection of short stories, essays and poetry flows seamlessly even though written throughout many years of Mr. Garrison's life. It was a treat to read and I hope he has squirreled away other musings that he will share with us in the future.
A very well written series of short stories, essays and poems. I have read everything that Jim has written and have thoroughly enjoyed his works. Keep on writing.
