Ciana Stone has been reading since the age of three, and wrote her first story at age five. Since then she enjoyed writing as a solitary form of entertainment, before coming out of the closet to share her stories with others. She holds several post graduate degrees and has often been referred to as a professional student. Her latest fields of interest are quantum mechanics and Taoism. When she is not writing (or studying) she enjoys painting (canvas, not walls), sculpting, running, hiking and yoga. She lives with her longtime lover in several locations in the United States.
I have to say this was almost a DNF. More than the whole first third of the book could have been condensed into a chapter or two. It was very jarring and hard to follow and all around frustrating. However, around the halfway point, the story really started to come together and then it was riveting. One of my problems was the number of perspectives. It felt like everyone got a say and it was constantly shifting and sometimes the pov was not clear, making it very hard to follow what was going on. Normally, this would give you insight into the characters because you can see what they are thinking. In this book, that was not at all the case. The deepest insights into each of the characters came from outside and were never even skirted around within the characters' minds. The main character was Sydney, a female psychiatrist. She has just started her own practice and it is taking off. She is just one year out of a divorce from a horrible man. She has been dating one man but she is not at all invested in the relationship. This is Blake, an FBI Agent who was the main love interest. The only problem was he was a complete jerk for most of the book and I didn't like him at all. Sydney goes from not being invested at all to all of a sudden being hopelessly in love with him. However, while she was not invested, she met Adrian. Adrian Zayne is really a more prominent character than Blake and Sydney goes so far as to marry him, which is totally bizarre and not really flowing in the book. See, just as the book starts getting really fascinating after I have forced myself to keep reading it past the beginning, it all goes crazy. There is a some serious psychological thriller in there that is actually really scary. That part had the most emotional response. Everything i have said so far has been pretty negative so you are probably trying to figure out the three stars. The writing is incredible and the story is actually pretty satisfying at the end. You are there and it is almost traumatizing at parts. Other parts have your heart breaking or a smile coming to your face. It is really very well done once you get past the inconsistencies. However, I am all about the details so the inconsistencies drove me crazy. I can't say I really enjoyed this book or that I would recommend it but if you like the thriller books with a splash of romance, this book is full of suspense and would definitely do it for you.
I have read a couple of her novels with this one being in a different genre than the ones I read. I was pulled to this one by the blurb because I love a good suspense novel that will have me tensed up and racing. the flow is dated so you get a good sense of the time length that is all occurs through. Sydney takes patients and listens to them and keeps their confidence. One of these patients will push her to the limit and open doors that she never imagined I suppose she would go through. She also has a relationship that is trying to go somewhere with a FBI agent named Blake that will also get intertwined with it all. In the middle of these two is Weasel who knows them both but will be a key to helping them starting out like at different sides then meets in the middle. Their will be a deadly attraction from a man she should of run from screaming that will put her through horrors that will start out as innocent encounters. Thanks to them all having to enter this dangerous game they will end up playing for their lives. One of the player's will be a master that they will have to learn fast to outwit. You will also find out that when Sydney finally realizes the type of man that loves her and lets him in will they survive this game. Oh the excitement and the deadly thrills this author gives in this novel. Gasping will be included when you see the nerve of the villain and the repulsion is well worded you will almost feel the same as her at times. The plot is one that keeps ticking and give the reader much pleasure when you enter the zone of one this type. When you do reach the final pages you might be for a second look like a deer caught in the headlights then the ray a good ending will bring you around.
Sydney Forrest, a senator's daughter, is psychiatrist to the movers and shakers in Washington, D.C. When one of her clients confesses to her about a group of people responsible for a bombing in Ohio that killed multiple people, she is in such a dilemma, especially as her boyfriend is FBI Agent Blake Edwards.
The tension builds and spreads beginning with the bombing and lasting until the very end. The group responsible is led by one man ... Adrian Zayne. Adrian is a master manipulator and what he wants is power ... and Sydney.
When Sydney spurns him, he becomes angry and uses other tactics ... drugs and brain washing and torture, whatever it takes. And then he goes after Blake's job to discredit him ... but Blake doesn't go down easily.
The characters seem just a little off .... Sydney is this very intelligent woman who, with absolutely no training, injects herself into the FBI's investigation ... and Blake allows her to do this, even after Adrian drugs her. Blake seems like a nice guy ... but has a lot of trust issues. Adrian is one of the most controlling human monsters out there. But all the characters are interesting in their own way.
The only real criticism I have is when the characters speak .... they tended to repeat again and again the things that had just happened. I found myself skipping through those pages.
I rated it 3.75 stars .... enjoyable but not quite a 4 for me.
My thanks to the author who furnished a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.
I recieved this book in exchange for or an honest review.
I really liked this book. There was suspense, drama and action. Just the way I like my books. Intense. One ick was that the book was way too long. I was going to give up at one point because it was not progressing fast enough at the beginning.
The characters are very interesting. The story was pretty good. Politics always makes a good story.
The main characters Syd and Blake were well thought of. Their relationship went through the wringer many times during the whole book. I would say that my favourite character was Adrian. Not because he was good. He was just plain crazy!! I was curious to see what his end plan was.
One thing that I could have done without was the raping scenes... A little too much but I understand that the author had to incorporate it into the story to prove how crazy Adrian was and to what extent he would go to keep Sydney to himself. I'm glad she got to pay him back for the torture she lived though!! I recommend anything from Ciana Stone. :)
Deadly conclusions was a good suspense novel. It's very different than the other books I've read by Ciana Stone, but that isn't a bad thing. I was actually surprised by how well rounded her book genre's seem to be and she excels at them all. This book was very intense and if that's not your cup of tea, then I don't recommend it, but I personally enjoyed it. It constantly had me guessing and in some places I honestly didn't know if it would work out how I hoped. It's a constantly fast paced and exciting book filled with corrupt government officials and people scheming all around. If you like fast paced books that keep you on your toes and keep you guessing, then this is a book I definitely recommend.
Deadly conclusion starts with action from the first page and continues that way all the way through. This is an intense and exciting read with corrupt government officials and a master manipulator the thing is will our heroine Sydney a psychiatrist realise what's happening before it's too late?. You will have to read the book to find out ,it is an intense read that does give you food for thought there are people like these out there I'm sure and that is a scary thought, I did enjoy every page of this book though because Ciana Stone wrote an excellent book .
This was an intense read, my emotions were all over the place. Sydney is a very strong character. I was alittle confused at the jumps in the storyline, but was able to understand it later. I enjoyed Blake the most, seeing more than one side of the man.
