Lil Marchette, vampire extraordinaire and owner of Manhattan's hottest hook-up service, is an expert at matching up the lonely and desperate (and sometimes dead). And thanks to the popular local reality dating show Manhattan's Most Wanted, Lil has plenty of fresh blood to add to the mix-including the biggest, baddest vampire in the Big Apple. Vinnie Balducci, Brooklyn representative for the Snipers of Otherworldly Beings, is making Lil an offer she can't refuse: find him the perfect woman or she's going to be swimming with the fishes.
But Lil may not be the only one taking the plunge. The three hunky demon Prince brothers are poking around Lil's office-hot on the trail of a rogue spirit trying to escape the land down under (not Australia) by possessing some poor, clueless human soul. Then Lil makes a startling discovery: The oblivious human vessel is none other than her loyal assistant, Evie. Between saving Evie from eternal damnation and saving herself from Vinnie's lethal ultimatum, Lil is sure to be in for the most hellish ride of her afterlife.
"Lil is a likable mix of Bridget Jones, Carrie Bradshaw and Dracula-charming, sweet, stylish, with just a hint of fang." -Parkersburg News and Sentinel
I've always been an incurable romantic. While I enjoy reading all types of fiction, my favorites, the books that touch my soul, are romance novels. From sexy to thrilling, sweet to humorous, I like them all. But what I really love is writing romance--the hotter the better!
I started my first novel back in high school and have been writing ever since. To date, I've published over thirty novels, one of them a prestigious RITA Award nominee, Romance Writers of America's highest award of excellence. I have also been nominated by Romantic Times magazine for several Reviewer's Choice awards, as well as a career achievement award.
I've written for several different publishers, including Harlequin Books, Leisure Books, Berkley/Jove, St. Martin's Press and Warner Books. Born and bred in the Lone Start State, I still live deep in the heart with my real-life hero, Curt, and our young children.
Like any over-worked, under-appreciated wife and mother, I have very little free time. But when I find a few precious moments, I LOVE to read. Some of my favorite authors include Janet Evanovich, Vicki Lewis Thompson, Charlaine Harris (see my Favorite Reads page for more) and the exceptionally talented Nina Bangs. Give me a bag of Sugar Babies, a Toby Keith or Kevin Fowler CD (I love Texas music), and a great book, and I'm in heaven!
I enjoyed this fourth book in the Dead End Dating series more than the previous three books. Lil is a still a little too fashion obsessed and self-obsessed, constantly reminding us that born vamps, herself included, are all ultra sexy and desirable, but with her assistant and friend Evie possessed by a demon, she has more important things to worry about and I did not find her as irritating as usual.
I always wish for more Ty, the made vamp who Lil lusts after, and while he made a couple of appearances in this book, including a major heroic act, I wish he'd been more involved. Fortunately, the future is looking good for the two of them, so hopefully he'll be around more in the next book.
the first story was :Viva las vampires-Jennifer ashley. it was an excellent vampire/romance story. from the very first page i was enthralled. all of the characters were well written/ Meredith and Stephan what a couple. i think i have read her stories before. but WOW definitely loved this one. she described 2 different breed of vampires: the living dead and the the dead vampires. and how they were different. that was really cool. the 2nd story:Bring out your dead-Katie Macalister. i really love all of her dark ones books. they are awesome. this is sebastian story. he pop in her dark ones books from time to time. So reading his story was really cool. Sebastian and Yasbella make an adorable couple. They had to fight an demon but it all worked out in the end. and sebastian had to work on forgiveness. but that was cool. the characters and the story was excellent.another great one from Katie. i hope she keeps the dark ones coming, because i will definitely get them and read them. that is for sure. the 3rd story: Lucy and the crypt casanova-Minda webber. very excellent story.this is the first story i have read from her. and if they are all like this: i think i will be buying her books. very creative and inventive.all of the creatures like vampires werewolves, and witches are out for the world to see. and in this story it describes like reality shows with such creatures. very cool. But at the heart of the story,it is a love story, between lucy and val. they are estranged lovers and have to find their way back to each other. they do eventually. but there is a mystery with a succabus creature. they get it though. and as they say happily ever after.
I did not like this book as much as the other ones in this series. Lil is best when she is grappling with hunky Ty and he was mostly a no show for the entire book (with the exception of her hot rescue at the end and their fabulously steamy reconnection...but then he's off again, typical) At this point Lil would be better matched to try Remy and see where it leads since Ty is always loving her and then leaving her. I was not that into the whole assistant being possessed and Vinnie storyline (I kept wondering why Vinnie wanted to kill her in the first place, Lil never hurt anyone) although I do love his mother and his brother seems fun, hope he shows up again. I will keep reading but something more exciting will have to happen soon to keep me interested in this series.
Not as good as the others in the series. There's less action and the only really exciting thing was right at the end with her possession and consequent Ty love. And although I like Ty very very much...I mean the guy is a consummate alpha male without the *sshole part, so what's not to like, right? I also like Remy a whole lot. I just wished she'd have let him kiss her at least once. I'm curious to know if they would work out if Ty wasn't in the picture. 'Cause let's face it...he only is when he feels like it. I think she got way too obsessed way too fast for it to be all that and a bag of chips.

So cute! An easy read that’s light hearted and still sexy and spicy. Looking forward to reading more from this series as I had just stumbled into this book and didn’t know there were more.
If you enjoy your paranormal romance/chicklit with a hefty dose of sarcasm and satire, you should pick up a copy of "Just One Bite" by Kimberly Raye. This is the 4th book in her 'Dead End Dating' series and I think the best one yet. Each novel has a mystery to solve and tells us a bit more about the heroine Lil, who is pretty much a caricature of the hip New Yorker who drops more fashion names than Joan Rivers.
Lil is a Born vamp from a wealthy vamp family who has broken away from the family business to open her Dead End Dating service. She is flaky, ditzy, and not at all your 'typical' vampire. She has an on-again/off-again relationship with drool-worthy bad boy Ty (a Made vamp and therefore MUCH lower class); and let's not forget sexy Remy, the Born vamp BOTH their families would love to see her settle down with. Each book reveals a bit more about Lil's inability to make a firm decision regarding these two and her mother's incessant nagging for her to settle down (with Remy). In this book, Lil has been blackmailed into finding a potential wife for Vinnie. Vinnie is a card carry member of the Snipers of Otherworldly Beings (yes, that's SOBs) and has made Lil and offer she can't refuse. She has 72 hours to find him a Catholic, Italian girl his mother will approve of (and he also has a long list of requirements like big boobs, real ones, hot looks, vagina, etc). If Lil does this Vinnie will generously refrain from making her his 500th vamp stake. So Lil is working on a short deadline, her American Express is maxed out (and there's a SHOE SALE), her mother won't stop calling about Remy, and her friend and assistant has been possessed by a serial killer Demon so she needs to find an exorcist! The vamp just can't catch a break.
I don't think I went a whole page without a snicker or an outright laugh. The book and characters are just so over the top, it's impossible NOT to laugh. So if you need a bit of paranormal comic relief, pick up a copy of "Just One Bite" by Kimberly Raye. Just be careful when you drink and read or you might blow your drink out your nose!
"Just One Bite" tells the story of Lil, the fabulous owner of Dead End Dating, a personal service seeking to hook up humans, vampires, werewolves and other creatures of the dark. She is filling a void in the dating market, and these preternatural beings are obviously an overlooked and undervalued demographic. There are plenty of dating stories to be told here to fill future books and the current dating/business scenes are the funniest in all four of the Dead End novels. This time Lil has a scary vampire killer/Italian mafia type man after her to find him the perfect church girl or else Lil will be staked. She also finds herself crossing paths with a demon who soon takes over the body of someone she cares for. Adding more pressure, Lil's mom is still trying to hook her up so she can marry and create baby vamps, but Lil isn't finding it easy to forget Ty, her made vamp ex-lover. When I read the first DED booking, I compared it unfavorably to MaryJanice Davidson's Betsy series. This seems to be a mistake because whereas Betsy seems to have gotten stale and lost a lot of the humor that made it soar, Lil still comes across fresh and funny. I smiled often and may have chuckled out loud a time or two. One thing I have to add, is that Raye makes mention of Brangelina and family around six or seven times over the course of the story. I remember thinking "Jeez lady, obsessed much?", but it didn't' really bother me and the last reference in the book is pretty funny. This book is just what it appears to be. A lite "chick lit" paranormal with some humor, romance, and even a little plot thrown in. Compared to the many similar vamp themed books out right now, its refreshing to find one that is still (on book four) just what is advertised.

This review is for books 1-5 of the DED series. I am just reviewing them now because I litterally could not stop reading. These books were hilarious! I read a lot at night and I had to get up several times and go into another room because I was laughing so hard I thought that I might wake up my husband. If you like Katie MacAlister and Molly Harper you will love this series. I really don't have any complaints other than I'm not into name brand clothes and stuff so I either skipped over the parts that went into detail of what someone was wearing or a couple times I looked it up so that I could get an idea of what it looked like. According to Kimberly Raye's website the 6th book in the series will be re-released by a new publisher in e-book format so I am impatiently waiting for that. I read the little blurb at the end of book 5 and I'm dying to read it!
Fun quick read enjoyed the book in the series ready to read the next one to see what happens. Thoughts from when I was in the middle of the book: She really needs to go for a Remy, I mean like Ty but she's got to go for Remy since he's born vamp. I mean he's perfect. She really needs to give him a chance because of growing up with him she's not ready to give him the chance. She sees Ty as a bad boy and that's what she longs for. I think if she gets to know what Remy actually smells like, he matches her cotton candy it would be perfect. Thoughts on the book was finished: Ty is trying but he's a made vamp and she needs a born vamp to complete her. I do honestly hope that she figures this out within the next book I'm just kind of tired of her dragging Remy along.

Lil's usual crazy antics ensue in this book. Evie her assistant is dragged in more than normal, but she isn't aware. I liked watching Lil do whatever she could to see to it that Evie would come out ok. Loved Vinnie and his do this or die statement. Watching him come to the realization that what his mother wanted for him and what he wanted for himself were 2 very different things. So funny to watch him turn into a pansy. I know guys like this (minus the body parts in the trunk) and would love to see them do this. Glad to see Lil and Ty realize things at the end. All in all a fun easy vacation read.
I really enjoyed this book, although I think the previous one in the series was slightly better. The best scenes are always the ones with Ty, and there were only a few of those in 'Just One Bite'. Still, Lil is as over-the-top and ridiculous as ever. Obviously, these books shouldn't be taken too seriously… actually, they shouldn't be taken serious at all. But they are great, mindless fun. A quick read and entertaining. Sex and the City meets Dracula. Definitely a good enough excuse to procrastinate packing for my upcoming trip for a few hours.
Once again, another fun read by Kimberly Raye. I love that she uses funny things that are relevant to the time: "I hadn't seen or talked to him in a month. No phone calls. No e-mails. No text messages. Not even a measly comment on Myspace or Facebook." The next book in the series, Sucker For Love, comes out in June. I can't wait!
Book 4 in the Dead End Dating series. This was more of the same of the first 3 books so if you liked them then this will please you just fine. The sex did get a little porny in one scene which actually took away from the up-to-that-point lighter feel of the book. I hope this isn't an ongoing thing. Still Lil inadvertently solving mysteries with a cast of wacky characters; it's a fun read.
This is an entertaining, lighthearted vampire series. I'm looking forward to the next one. (To my UPS deliveryperson: It was worth you having to walk through several inches of water in my flooded yard to deliver this this afternoon. Thanks!)
Cute, but not quite as cute as _Your Coffin or Mine?_ (which is the first I read of the series). It had a real action-adventure pair of sub-plots and the heroine is as smart-ass as ever, but somehow it came off as less funny. I'm not sure why.
It was funny, action packed, adding more hot men to drool over and also sexual tension... It was a fun book to read i feel bad for Evie but in the end everything worked out fine! Just how it should be and Ty well he Ty... Now i nee to get the 5th book so I can finish the series!
Always looking for that next sequel and I adore this series! It was a fantastic read and I am ready for the next one but that isn't until May 2009 [pout]
Ok, I'm having way too much fun with this series, aren't I? Four is as good as the other's, though. Super fun! Oh, and did I mention there's always one REALLY good sex scene? :)
