could’ve been a 4🌟 but all the twelve ‘music experts’ were men.
also no mention of the symphonies of William Grant Still in the American bit which was very disappointing

Detailed and chronological guide, including unknown, forgotten, composers of symphony. Found enlightening information on English composers to broaden taste of classical music palette. Some chapters devoted to composers. including favorite, Mahler.
