An Introduction to the Old Testament Prophets

Rate this book
Although much has been written concerning the prophetical books themselves, this unique study fills the serious lack of introductory and background material. This general introduction is designed to serve as an aid in the study of Old Testament prophets and prophecy. Besides the important background information, major critical problems, date and authorship questions, the general nature of each prophetical book, the prophet himself, and an analysis of the prophet's message are all included.

Dr. Freeman's survey of Old Testament prophecy and the prophetic institution of Israel is of profound value to any student of the Bible. The importance and value of the prophets can hardly be overestimated in terms of their influence on the nation of Israel and upon the world.

An Introduction to the Old Testament Prophets is an up-to-date, conservative restatement of the biblical view of prophecy which takes into consideration the findings of modern scholarship. The background that this study affords will strengthen every pastor, teacher, informed layman, and student of the Bible.

Great book, very thorough. Freeman makes an effort to explain history, interpretation, and even criticisms if the prophetic books. Very informative, and ultimately a book I'll be keeping handy.
