Libby and Ike's dream of starting their family is overshadowed by Libby's inability to become pregnant and Ike's new job with the railroad, and while she wishes for the baby that eludes her, Libby hopes to become a published writer. Original.
I didn't enjoy this installment as much as the first two in the series. Libby moved out to the country to be with Ike, so the reader doesn't see as much of the townspeople, who really made Books 1 & 2 IMO. Also, Ike seemed like a big hypocrite, chastising Libby for not being a better Christian and yet hanging onto old resentments himself. Maybe he comes around, but I did jump ahead in the book, and he was still being Mr. High and Mighty. I don't really feel like sticking around and rooting for that marriage now. Finally, Libby's struggle with her desire for kids might hit a little too close to home.
Another sweet and easy read with comfort for women who can’t be biological mothers. But i am glad the series is done. Still left me with a few unimportant questions.
