FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY. This third book in the Alien in My Pocket series is the zaniest yet! Nothing's been easy since Amp crash-landed his spaceship through Zack McGee's bedroom window. Now Amp has built a quantum radio to alert his commanders to call off the invasion of Earth. Unfortunately, instead of contacting Erdian Central Command, Amp's radio accidentally broadcasts Amp's messages all over Zack's hometown. Now it's up to Zack and his best friend, Olivia, to save their alien friend from being discovered and to save the planet from panic.
Nate ball is an amazing author and really brings amp and zack to life. I like his view of amp and zack bickering but deep down they are really good friends
I chose the book, "Alien in my Pocket" (third book in the series) by Nate Ball. This science fiction in the eBook form is geared towards children ages... and up. This book is about an alien named, Amp who has decided to build a quantum radio to alert his commanders to call off the invasion of the Earth. However, Amp contacted the wrong broadcasting radio and now Amp's messages are being broadcasted across Zack's (the boy in the story) hometown, and it is up to Zack and his friend Olivia to save their alien from being discovered. I gave this book a rating of 4 out of 5 because I thought it was effective and I thought the title was interesting. The language I thought was perfect for this age group and very easy to read/understand. The characters used were interesting. Throughout the book there were many illustrations on almost every page and the pictures related to the story and what was being told on that page. I also liked how at the beginning of some of the chapters there was a picture to get the reader thinking about what was going to happen next in the story. Even though the book had no color and was just black and white throughout, I thought it was still effective and you still knew what was going on with the pictures. (even though they were also in black and white.) The texture sound was unavailable since it was in eBook form. I think this book would be appealing for children this age because a lot of children today are interested in aliens and extraterrestrial things like that and if they are interested in that then they will definitely be interested in this book. Lastly, I would consider using this type of book (eBook) while working with children because since children of all ages today play a lot and read a lot on tablets and phones, then I would definitely allow them to read an eBook, since they are used to electronics and all that. Also, when children read books online or on a screen, they don't know what is going to occur next in the story, so reading an eBook would allow them to think more about what's next and lastly, allow them to use their imagination more.
My Review: This is not only a funny book but educational as well. A book children will love to read. In book 3, Amp, a blue alien decides to build a quantum radio to contact his home planet but things did go as planned and its up to Zack and his friend Olivia to save the day. Included in the book, is a Do-It- Yourself instructions on how to build your own radio. Illustration by Macky Pamintuan helps tell the story.
