New to Leslie? Readers suggest starting with 'The Bossy One' (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C6BP3BBF) —Imagine a sunny Minnesotan Mary Poppins, employed by a grumpy Irish billionaire. The story is a blend of humor, revenge, passion, heartbreak, hope, and witty banter. As one reader put it, ‘This story had me squealing at the romantic moments and silly moments.’

Leslie North is the USA Today Bestselling pseudonym for a critically-acclaimed author of romantic comedies and contemporary romance. The anonymity allows her to fully express her creativity, especially in the romantic and fun sexy scenes!

In fact, she confesses to loving her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her everyday self! Her bestselling books are known for their strong characters, particularly women who aren’t afraid to challenge an alpha bosshole. And the humor? So infectious, you’ll be laughing out loud in public!

Leslie’s love for romance began when she picked up a worn-out romance book from her local library. She started writing soon after, and as they say, the rest was history. She now resides in a cozy cottage on the British coast, enjoying long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

DO NOT BUY!

A very mediocre story at best, which just prodded along. On the plus side, it was a quick read. Then, rather than reaching a Happily Ever, we're told to buy Book 2 in the series. Judging by the titles, it will be several books before the kidnapped newborn is returned to her parents, and several couples will get together along the way. Ridiculous!

Grammar in the book is as non-existent as the proofreading.

Save us from writers who think they can sell multiple books by chopping up a story and offering up the first one free without alerting the reader to the fact that it is a serial, not a series.

So, this was interesting but way too short. The first day is pretty nicely detailed, but everything else seemed like it was on fast forward. I prefer books that show rather than tell events after the fact. I want to see the romance happen.

This is a mixed narrative, you get both leads and a few bonus POV. While I like this, it does feel a bit choppy at times. Going from one voice to another is quick shots does not make for smooth transitions.

Brianna seems sweet, but I wanted to see more of her sass. I would have loved a scene where she loses her temper. Trent is a typical billionaire type. I really wanted more from these two. More story would have helped.

It is an insta love kind of romance. Not the most believable. Again, if it were a longer read things could have built and progressed more naturally. I just wasn't buying into this, not so quickly without seeing the interactions.

This is an open bedroom book, nice detail, but not as involved as I expected. It was spicy but not scorching hawt.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Dawn Ann Billings, who has a nice read. Her pace is steady, but I like things a little quicker, I punched it up to double speed and things were great. Her characters are distinct and the men are just deep enough to be masculine, without being over done. The read is a but stilted on the regular speed, it is part pace and part the choppy writing. She is a newer narrator for me, my ears will need a few more listens to decide how they feel. I gather she is newer, so this might just be the growing stages.

For the most part I enjoyed the story, I just wish there were more of it to be read. This does end on a cliffhanger. The romance part is settled, but a major even occurs at the end, leading into the next book. I was annoyed at the abrupt ending, but curious enough to pick up the next book right away.

*** I hope this review was useful to you and helped your decision to read or not read this book. I love reading and sharing my opinions with other readers. I listen at double speed; all my impressions of the narration are from that setting. Thanks for taking the time to read my review! This book was a decent read up until the ending. I'm kind of ticked that the baby was used to try and force readers heart strings to purchase the next book. This book was way too short.

Entertaining but that's it. I wanted to "see" the story not just "hear" it.

This book honestly read like one big prologue. The security team that shows up in the epilogue are featured in the other books in this series but they were never mentioned prior to the end of the book so I was like “who are these dudes”

It was okay but not great. Brianna was an irritating character for me, I HATE the petname “honey”, and the pregnancy part of their relationship was pretty much fast forwarded.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cliffhanger alert

Seriously! After having to read about Brianna crying every other page you leave the story that way?! No way am I continuing nor recommending this story. It was rushed and could have been ended with a nice clean slate but this ending was terrible.

From Joy to Heartbreak . . .

Trent Caldwell owns his own business. When he needs a temporary assistant to step in for Pam, Brianna Daughtry is put in that position. She has been struggling to make enough money to care for her mom while she lives in a cheap hotel which is all she can afford for herself. When she is injured in an attack one night, Trent gives her a ride from the hospital to her motel. He is appalled that she is living there and takes her home with him.

Being together now, Brianna can see good things about Trent that he doesn’t show others. The two of them are falling in love. And Brianna becomes pregnant. Trent and Brianna get married and are delighted to welcome their little girl into the world. The only thing that troubled them was that Trent had been warned that Marco Bresi had returned from Europe and may have plans to follow through on his threats against Trent. Marco’s daughter had a relationship with Trent and had cheated on him. Her lover got her pregnant and she wanted Trent to take her back. When he refused and left Europe, Serena Bresi lied in her suicide note that Trent got her pregnant, which he hadn’t, and Marco has blamed him ever since for the loss of his daughter and grandchild. Could Trent and Brianna’s baby possibly provide Marco a means of getting his vengeance?

Very Harlequin Presents. A cinderella-esque/boss-secretary trope featuring a crabby overly dominant heroine whose a commitment-phobe until he meets and falls for his young struggling attractive assistant who dresses bad and uses all her money to pay for her mother's nursing home. He swoops in and saves the day. Not a bad story though it seems to stay on a single level, never really giving us a reason for his all-consuming attraction beyond her looks and the fact he likes she blushes around him. I HATED it ended on a cliffhanger though. Grrrrr.

Brianna pays for her disabled mothers nursing home care and in doing she is financially strapped and it has her living in a motel and wearing goodwill clothing.
Trent is her boss, his secretary takes leave and Brianna fills in. They start an affair and she gets pregnant. She has baby. Baby is taken.
Waaaaay too short. Skimmed it and still hated it.

I was in so much traffic last night so I decided to download an audiobook. The narrator seemed like she was bored while reading it, so many times while listening I just thought what the hell is going on. She's pregnant te last like 10% of the book. No no no, I will not be continuing the story.

An emotionally sexy book.

For such a short story I fell for the characters pretty quickly. I loved how easy it was for me to enjoy this book, and it's perfect to relax for awhile. I'll definitely continue the series.

Their Unexpected Life Changes -
All I can say at this point is, Wow! Brianna was truly ecstatic when she was asked to be the temporary assistant of the CEO. Trent was weary about working with Brianna, but once he worked with her a few days, he discovered there was more to her than meets the eye. Everything changed between them when Brianna was in trouble and Trent stepped in to help her, which brought them closer together.

Unfortunately, someone from Trent’s past tried to create friction between them, but when that didn’t work, the person decided to reek irreparable havoc on Trent and Brianna’s lives. The story end on a cliffhanger, but the undeniable attraction and sizzling chemistry between the characters drew me into the story and kept me feeling electrified. Grab a copy of this book and you will not be disappointed.

ends on a cliffhanger.

Unbelievable. Not only is the story close to pitiful, but the author then ends it on a cliffhanger. Not worth the time, that’s for sure.

A very passionate read.

Life has been tough on Brianna but she is determined to make it on her own by working hard. She gets her chance when she fills in for the handsome CEO's secretary....she is instantly attracted to the sexy Trent, she never believes he would want her.

Sexy powerfull Trent is captivated by his temporary mousey secretary but can't figure out why. Brianna ends up getting attacked and this brings out is protective white knight gene and he rides to the rescue. He brings her to his place and finds out he enjoys taking care of her.....but being so close together releases the passionate lust and one thing leads to another (and some pretty hot sex scenes).

Trent has many enemies and one of them will go to great lengths to take away anything he loves.

I really like Trent and Brianna and how well they suit each other. There is a lot a passion between them yet also sweetness and understanding. What I didn't like was all of a sudden jumping weeks and months forward without any warning...even just a little blip heading at the start of the paragraph would have been fine. I had to keep checking to make sure I hadn't skipped a page.....very annoying. It is a very fast paced short read as it is part of a continuing series.

This book, as well as Trent and Brianna's relationship, moved at lightening speed. I did like that there wasn't a ton of angst involved in the story. It went much smoother than I expected.

I couldn't quite get a feel for Brianna's personality. One moment she seemed to be very timid, and the next I would see hints of a backbone and some fire. She seemed more like she was hiding rather than she lacked confidence. It was confusing to me regarding Brianna's personality.

Trent's often mentioned brusque personality wasn't really shown much because he immediately moderated his behavior when Brianna started working for him.

Seeing as how Trent and Brianna speed walked through their relationship, I didn't realize the book would end on a cliffhanger. When I figured out what was happening toward the end, I kept thinking the mystery would be resolved. It wasn't.

I would have probably rated this higher were it not for the cliffhanger. Or even if the description mentioned the book ended that way. Plus, it seemed to me if the book wasn't going to be completed, why rush through Trent and Brianna getting together? I would give it 3.5 stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy received via Booksprout.

I really enjoyed this book. I just wished it was a little longer. When books are short, it seems like the story gets crunched down, or condensed. It was a very passionate story.

Brianna is a very independent young lady. She has had to be. She works hard so she can pay to keep her mom in a nursing home. Brianna eats peanut butter sandwiches every day, and lives in a cruddy pay by the week motel. She finally caught a break. she now works as the CEO's secretary. I loved how the attraction is there from the beginning. Trent is as sexy as heck, and her boss, so she can't cross the line.

The lines gets blurred when it was trent that came up to the hospital to be with her, and she got hurt. She ended up staying at his house, when she got released from the hospital. The chemistry is there, but I also enjoyed the friendship that was built throughout the story. For the first time ever, it was Trent pursing a girl. He had to get Brianna to trust him.

good story!

I'm a little torn with giving it a full 3 star rating.

I liked this book a lot until the last 25% area. At that point the book becomes more of a "tell you story" rather than a "show you story." At that point, we lose chunk of time and major parts of their lives. I felt the book was a bit rushed so it could get to the end? I'm not sure, but I really liked it up until that point.

This is a classic: Boss falls in love with his new assistant story. I've definitely read quite a few books similar to this one. Still, I enjoyed it. I only wish that some of the side characters would have had more of a villainous role, or pursed the hero and heroine in a dating aspect a little more to add drama to the relationship. I think a couple of the characters could have done with out a POV and I would have liked to have seen more of Janet and Shawn play a role.

**CLIFFHANGER**

Brianna hides behind gaudy clothes from a thrift store. She lives in a motel. Her mother had a stroke and all her money goes to her nursing facility. Her life is about to change in a big way.
Trent owns the company Brianna works for. She becomes his assistant when his goes on leave. On her way home, she is knocked down and sent to the hospital. Trent is called and takes her home with him. They start an affair and she gets pregnant. When she delivers by C-section, the wait for the baby to be brought to her when someone posing as the grandfather takes the baby.
Fast paced. A little steamy. But I hate when authors don't separate the characters dialogue. It just all goes together and you're reading about one in a paragraph then the next is someone else. It gets confusing.

From elation to devastation

Briana challenges Trent in a way nobody has before, she is not confrontational, or aggressive, but she quietly and effortlessly brings him to his knees. She has moments of sass but she is also vulnerable and calls to every protective instinct that Trent has, she makes him want something he never has before, he wants ...everything....forever.
I love that Briana throws Trent into a tail spin just by being her quiet and efficient self, seeing a man that is usually so confident and sure of himself, floundering and second guessing every action is very sweet. But we go from this sweet happiness to utter horror and every parents worst nightmare is realised as heartbreak hits and Trent realises he has failed to keep Briana and Faith protected from enemies that will stop at nothing to crush him.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

while I enjoyed the overall story. the book was entirely too short. I wanted more of Trent..... he was totally swoon worthy and I would have loved more of that. the characters were very likeable. I also didn't like how the book ended on a cliff hanger and to get answers you have to read a book about a new set of characters just find out what happens to Trent and Brianna ' s baby girl plus we don't even have a name for the baby. it's like the author didn't complete the thought on once the baby was born. the end of the book felt rushed from the pregnancy announcement to trent, to the wedding, to her giving birth. I would have loved for the book to have been longer and focused more on the relationship of trent and Brianna.

This book started out slow; got better in the middle—but ended with s major cliffhanger! What a crock…you send out a book without any indication that it was a ‘to be continued’ and then say we have to get Book Two to finish the story?? Oh heck NO! Overall, I was disappointed by this whole ARC experience. 😠

Not a good book. They first have sex after she has been attacked and is drugged, how about some consent there? I just can not read books like this, books that make the woman into a helpless little girl that needs rescuing.
