Ancient myths, superheroes, preternatural sentient beings. Prepare to believe...
For four thousand years, they've managed to stay hidden from the humans who almost hunted them to extinction. Now one rogue creatus wants the world to know they exist.
Reader Profile: First and foremost, I am a reader. From the moment I could hold a book, I've been fascinated with the written word. I enjoy almost everything, but lean toward romantic-suspense and magical realism. If you're looking for poor reviews, you won't find them here. The reason...life's too short to read bad books. If a book isn't at least three stars halfway through, I stop reading, and therefore, don't feel as though I have the right to review it. That's my policy! Please don't send me requests, though. If you are one of my cyber friends, I will eventually find you. :)
Author Profile: I write stories that overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, a hint of paranormal sometimes, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a great story be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of my novels are sensual but not erotic, gripping but not graphic, and will hopefully make you cry, laugh, love, and hope.

I am glad I read the prequel to the Creatus series, becasue book2 is all over the place. The story between Kristina and Derrick was BLAH!! and Boring. I am not sure how the PR element really fits into the story. Creatus are normal human beings who have existed in for 4 thousand years. Nothing special about that. Most of the human races have been around for four thousands of years. They are 4 thousand years old they live too about 150 yrs they age slower, hear and see better and are stronger then humans becasue of there Vegan diet!! Really a Vegan diet!! you what me to believe this foolishness. Eating raw fish can kill you too. Or make you so sick you wish you were dead. At first I thought it was something special about them fallen. But again it only meant that a couple falls in love and that takes forever to be explained. I am sorry I really wanted to like Creatus, but it didn't Gel for me!!
This is the second installment in DeSousa's Creatus series about a race of superhumans who live and keep their skills hidden in contemporary society. Victoria is a hard-edged part of this community, but we get to see her fall for the last man she'd ever consider as her mate--a human. But...is he?
There's twists and turns in the rogue plot that was started in the first book, Creatus, along with revelations. We get to see some of the characters from the first book as well, but you never feel overwhelmed by an overabundance of people. Who's next? There are a few characters who are poised to play the next leading role. Can't wait to find out!
I would love to blow this story out of the water and tell you all about this awesome series. I absolutely love the first book and this ones even better. Derrick and his friends and family are after a rogue that's killing humans, but some of the murders look connected to a Creatus. Victoria is suppose to watch Reece, a agent their keeping hostage( from Creatus one) because they think he will turn them in. Creatus are being sought out by the police and FBI, or at least the ones who believe something other than human is out there killing humans. Reece is in love with Vic, so aren't a few other men. Vic is very confused, she's not used to feeling this way. She's always only had eyes for Derrick. Derrick is married to Kristen now. Reece has made his feeling clear, so haven't the other men. One top of trying to figure out her life, she has to keep her head clear to help the family. She needs a girlfriend, she's always only had male friends. Will Victoria find a girlfriend and figure out her life, all the while helping Derrick and the family? Think about this after you read it. I believe there could be Creatus among us. We have lots of people with extraordinary strength and speed, they eat sushi and are vegetarian..Hmmmmm..
What can I say? I love aliens and I loved this book. Probably my favorite along with the last of the series.
Vic and Reece's story had me smile and I almost completely forgot Derrick and Kristina. Here again the back stories continues with more of the plot revealed. This one has a little more twists than the first two.
DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Creatus Rogue Series: Creatus Author: Carmen DeSousa Designation: Book Two of Series, NOT a Standalone Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS***** Loved, loved, loved it! The Creatus Series is my first time reading the work of Carmen DeSousa but it certainly won't be my last. I began my adventure with DeSousa after downloading Creatus, the first book of the series, when it was offered as a free download on Amazon. I enjoy discovering new authors and what better way to discover new talent without breaking the bank than with a free read, right? I started reading on a Saturday morning and within five minutes, I knew I'd struck gold! I raced back to Amazon and discovered Books Two and Three, Creatus: Rogue and Creatus: Eidolon, had already been released. And the icing on the cake, they were both available under the Kindle Unlimited program. SWEET! By Sunday evening, I had devoured all three books of the series as well as the prequel novella, They Exist, which was included as a bonus in the first book. Now, please allow me to state that this is actually more like a serial since the books should be read in sequence. Although the author does include a fair amount of backstory in each book, I recommend reading the books in order. These stories are not meant to be read as standalone reads. Although each book primarily features a specific couple, there is an interconnected story arc running through the entire series with a recurring cast of characters. I found all of the books to be exciting, thrilling, imaginative, original, suspenseful, romantic, seductive, exceptionally well crafted and edited. The narratives are all beautifully written in the third person with multiple points of view. My favorite! The dialogue is smart, well executed and flows effortlessly. But my favorite component of this remarkable saga is the magnificent cast of characters. They are unique, intriguing, well developed, engaging, relatable and sexy as sin. I not only fell head over heels for the protagonists of each book but I also loved the masterfully depicted antagonists. Nothing is as it seems! Be very careful which antihero you choose to hate; he may very well turn out to be a hero in disguise! And vice versa, of course! Oh my! DeSousa demonstrates her talent as a gifted storyteller by skillfully combining every single one of these elements to craft a masterful supernatural saga filled to the brim with fantasy, danger, drama, action, betrayal, heartache, undeniable love, and enough spine-tingling suspense, shocking plot twists and perplexing mystery to blow your mind! And just when you think you have it all figured out -WHAM - DeSousa hits you with another surprising and totally unexpected piece of the puzzle. Folks, this definitely ISN'T your ordinary romance. This is an extraordinary, suspense filled whodunnit with a delicious side of tantalizing romance - without the calories! OMG! Who knew you could have a sexy romance without the sex? Obviously, Carmen DeSousa did since she just pulled it off magnificently! Once I started reading, I could not stop! I was immediately drawn into the story, glued to my seat, completely lost in time with the hours passing seemingly as minutes while my heart pounded in my chest. It was bloody brilliant! So sit back, my lovelies, get comfy and prepare to meet the Creatus, an alien species who have been living in plain sight among the humans of Earth for the past four thousand years. And you know all those supernatural beings based on myth, well, they just might be real and they may be creatus. Oh my!
This is not a book report nor do I give spoilers in my comments. What I attempt to do is give my humble opinion on the merits of the book itself. When rating and reviewing a book, I always ask myself several questions. First, what did I love about this story? As I stated earlier, all the books were beautifully written, well crafted and well edited with gorgeous covers. The world created by DeSousa for this series was imaginative as well as intelligent. It may have been fantasy but it was totally believable in the realms of science fiction and the supernatural. Oh, did I forget to mention the science fiction part? Well shucks, it's like Donnie and Marie Osmond with their little bit country and little bit rock 'n roll. This series is a little bit paranormal, little bit supernatural, little bit fantasy and a little bit science fiction. It's a divinely delicious all you eat buffet! And the characters were unlike anything I've ever experienced in a previous book. They were unique but fascinating and completely relatable. I cried for them, empathized with them and even laughed at some of their antics. The narratives of each book were fast paced but comfortable. At no point in any of the books was I ever bored or distracted. The pages as well as the time literally flew. I was so engrossed in the story, I even refused to answer my phone. My second question is always, what didn't I like about this story? Truthfully, not a darn thing! Well, other than the fact I didn't want it to end but isn't that true with all great stories? I think so. Third, would I recommend this book? You bet and I am for a wide range of readers including young and mature adult readers. There are a few curse words which I could probably count on one hand for all three books. There is some violence but it's NOT graphically portrayed and has NO gory details. The book is romantic but not erotic. There are NO explicit sex scenes but there are dreamy love scenes. And this is one thing that really surprises me since I generally go for books with more erotic romance and often find myself bored out of my mind without at least a few steamy sex scenes but not so with this series. It never actually occurred to me until I began writing this review. Fourth, will I read this author again? Abso-freakin-lutely! At the end of Book Three, the author offered a sneak peek at the fourth book of the series, Creatus: Animus and believe me when I say, I rushed to her web page to sign up for her newsletter so I'll know when the next book is released. As far as I'm concerned, tomorrow wouldn't be soon enough so bring it on Carmen DeSousa! lol..... And finally, was I entertained? Oh lawd, yes! I was completely captivated and totally entertained! I'm a DeSousa fan for life! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
Victoria is a fantastic heroine – being a creatus, she’s as strong and tough as any man, yet she still has the true emotions of a woman. She’s surrounded by several men claiming to love her and must sort out her feelings for them, both in her heart and her head.
With the rogue creatus still on the loose, it’s hard for Victoria to know who to trust. Especially Reese, a cop who discovered the creatus’ abilities and is now being kept prisoner. He should be the enemy, but is he really?
As in 'Creatus (Book 1)' I really enjoyed the story locations and actions scenes in the book. They really support and balance with the personal story-lines between the different characters shown. We also get to see how Derrick and Kris from Book 1 are doing.
The romance between Victoria and Reese is slow blooming; a fresh change after the more intense romance between Derrick and Kris (which I also loved). It suits the couple well, and also the fact that Victoria has several men vying for her attention. And Vic is a very different character from Kris, so I was pleased to see her show some vulnerability, but not change too much too quickly.
As this is a continuing story I won’t give spoilers on the end, but there is a very interesting development in the final chapter to set up some new characters (and adventures) for Book 3. The world of the creatus and all the characters we already know, make for a great, long-running book series. I will definitely be reading them all.
One of the things I love most about this series is that Carmen DeSousa takes all the stereotypes and tosses them in the trash. This is paranormal romantic suspense, absent the weak-kneed female falling at the dominant vampire's feet. Another thing I love is that she allows her characters to poke fun at those stereotypes with a subtle humor that had me giggling in the mist of the suspense.
While Derrick and Kristina, the stars of Creatus, still play a big role here, other characters step out and take the lead. I loved learning more about Victoria. She's a fascinating character with a lot of depth. And I was pleasantly surprised by Reece's larger role. We're given enough closure to feel satisfied at the end, but we're also left with tantalizing pieces that have me waiting anxiously for book #3.
If you have not read Creatus, the first book in this series, you could still read this one. DeSousa did a great job weaving past information into this story, giving new readers background while not boring readers who'd read the first book. Still, I think the series is more enjoyable if read in order so that you have a full understanding of the characters' journeys. Plus, they're just really great books!
I'm having so much fun reading this series. I kinda dragged my feet towards the end of this one bcuz I haven't seen the next one in the series out yet...and I just wanted to be in their world longer... I would be like Vic ;)
**spoiler alert**
I wasn't surprised it was Ry but I wasn't the least bit sure either. Cooper is the one that caught me off guard. I sorta had him pegged as a jerk but clearly he was over the edge and on a downward spiral towards the looney bin. Jonas is probably going to fall for Reece's daughter...or is that too creepy? I'm not sure how their ages line up. And does that make her 1/4 Creatus? I wonder how that works for her abilities. I hope Derrick and Kristina are a part of the next books too. I like that Vic is coming around. Too bad Derrick went all caveman and stopped the lessons. That could have been fun and a good way to bond. I admit to a bit of impatience in regards to Vic & Reece. C'mon guys!! Fall already; you're just asking for trouble!
**alert over**
I'm sure happy the next book is about Reece bcuz he is probably the closest anyone has come to thinking up my dream guy ~ lol ;) I think I would like it if somehow he finds a way to search out his heritage.
I give this book 5 stars bcuz this is my kind of story and I enjoyed every minute of it. I hope you do too! Can't wait for more and more and more! Thanks Carmen!! @CreatusSeries
I loved the first book, but I thought this was even better. This is the second book in the Creatus series, but stands fine on its own. Vic and Reese are both great characters. I seriously love them both. She hates humans and is a super-tough creatus woman that most of the creatus men are practically fighting over. He's the agent that they have locked up to keep their secret safe, but there is more to him than they realize. I just love their interactions while she is guarding him to make sure he doesn't escape. Vic is confused and Reese is sweet and funny. There is also a rogue on the loose that needs to be stopped so there is mystery and action as well. Possibly my favorite Carmen DeSousa book so far. I just loved this and I think it will appeal all lovers of sweet romance and suspense, even those who are not normally fans of paranormals.
If you liked 'Creatus' the first book in the Creatus Series you are going to LOVE 'Creatus: Rogue'. It is even better and I might even go so far as to say Carmen Desousa's best book yet.
I loved the protagonist, Vic. She was strong in all the ways I wanted a strong female lead to be but she also had weakness and vulnerability in areas I could really relate to--making her a character that I really cared about.
The plot was fast paced and kept me hooked from page one. Carmen DeSousa is a master at pacing and 'Creatus: Rogue' is no exception to that.
I lost interest in the story line. There's no mystery left. I already know who the bad guy is, the romance that was happening is over as the couple got married, and another romance has started, and I already know the outcome to that one as well.
It got boring real fast. It's a shame. I was hoping for the best. I bought the whole series for 99 cents and now I know WHY it was only 99 cents. Not much to go on at this point and I don't want to waste another minute reading this series, when there are MANY other stories out there I'd rather pursue.
This is the third story of the box set I'm reading and it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Very well written, this time, the series concentrates more on Victoria and the choices she has to make. This too mixed with the rogue, murders, betrayal and secrets.
Full of action and suspense, this is a clever take on human myths at the same time seeming believable and realistic.
This is the 2nd book. It had a lot more to do with Victoria than Derrick but still involved then and all the other secondary characters. We learn more about Reese and who the rogue really is, but still don't know who's really behind the faction trying to take over the world. It was a little obvious who the real killer was, but the way it was written, could have had any of the suspects. I'm still wary of a few other creatus, but we'll find out more In the 3rd book
Good book in this series. This story centered more around Victoria. She was a character from the previous book that I did not like or care about. However, due to how the author exposed more of her character and past I have begun to like and cheer for her. Looking forward to the next book to see how this all comes together.
This series has been a great escape for me, full of lovable characters, an exciting plot, and engaging writing. I've already bought the 3rd book and I'm ready to dive in to another wonderful storyline. It'll be sad when I don't have a 4th book to go to afterward, but I'll enjoy the ride as long as I can.
I like this set of books I like the things that creatus can do, and they are a little more like us which is more believable to me. I also like that the author stops her explanations at a certain point during the supposed sex scenes. The talk of sex only goes so far which is perfect for me as she finds a way to write an adult story without excessive private encounters. Perfectly done.
Good characters interesting story with mystery and romance the sex is very P.G but I have to say I’ve kept reading till it was finished all day and didn’t want to put it down and just bought book 3 wishing I bought the book set at once but always glad the first was free so I could decide first definitely worth the money
Something or someone is killing humans and leaving a "C" on them. And it seems to be a creatus. Who is trying to out them and frighten humans. They need to figure it out before they have to leave their homes.
I couldn't stop reading! Loved the way Victoria and Reese met and fell in love. An amazing book and I don't give 5 stars unless I feel the book is exceptional!
I really enjoyed the first book in this series but by the middle of this second book I was really wishing I’d never started the series in the first place. Vic and Reese had a great love story. But they never get to really fall for each other in this book and It’s obvious that the author is trying to drag this story out just to sell more books. Well, I’m not falling for it.
This series just keeps me reading late into the night. I have only started liking jealous and over sensitive "Re". How could anyone take her seriously...one minute she wants to be girly but also wants to be treated equally. Hopefully, she has found someone who can get her jealous mind off her Derrick.
Not much actually happened. A bit of mystery and lots of back and forth who will she choose? Just kidding she chooses no one. Oh wait. Maybe. It was annoying not riveting. Bummer. No interest in the rest.
The to-ing and fro-ing of the protagonist just got on my nerves after a while, sorry to say. I would have expected a bit more suspense in this type of book. Something I would call "readable but nothing to get excited about". Personal taste here.
