As she tries to put the pieces together, her life begins to unravel. Whoever is behind this has money, a lot of it, and knows that Nikki is a threat.

As a self-proclaimed television junkie and an avid reader, Sheryl Steines writes what she loves. From the character/relationship story from one of her writing inspirations (Judy Blume), to the fantastical world of magic and mayhem in another inspiration (J.K. Rowling), to the strong female character of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sheryl uses the world of magic and mystery, mashed with a bit of detective work, to weave a story of women who face challenges, overcoming them with dignity and honesty, using her own challenges as inspiration.

Sheryl has written two books in her Wizard Hall Chronicles series (The Day of First Sun and Black Market) and working on a new series, The Empaths (Gracie Madison Feels the World). Both series introduce the reader to young women battling demons of the supernatural kind and the personal kind, each fighting to find their way.

Sheryl Steines has been writing since she was seven years old, since she picked up her first Nancy Drew novel and hasn’t stopped. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found tooling around in her convertible, supporting causes and raising her kids, dealing with extra ordinary challenges.

Nikki Page is a paralegal who is dealing with the aftermath of her divorce and caring for her 3 children, when one day she goes to work and finds her boss with his secretary and things quickly take a turn for the worst. The next day she finds a file on her desk that leads her to asking too many questions. This mystery will keep you on your toes wondering who is behind it and who killed who for what cost?

Is Nikki really innocent? Is it her boss or his partners behind it? Will the truth set her free and led to a new page in Niki's life? This book will keep you turning the page. Highly recommend if looking a murder mystery.

NO SPOILERS HERE

While I like the idea of this story, and it does have appeal, I am just dragging through it. I want to be interested, I want to fly through it, but something just does not sit right with me. There is something happening, and then nothing, and maybe it is just me and where my mind is lately...

So what happens is, Nikki (our main character, narrator, momma and divorce, turn amateur sleuth because of the shady inconsistencies with client files at this law office. Naturally, there is angst and mystery, and I do hope you like it! Her boss is sketchy, looks guilty then bolts like a coward. The mistress (because, naturally there is an office affair and he is of course married to someone else!) disappears, looking like foul play, but apparently is not.

Wait til you see the climax!

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this one.

On her fiftieth birthday, Nikki walks into an uncomfortable situation at work. Soon after something strange happens, and then her boss disappears. Nikki then has to watch her own back while working to figure out what happened and who's behind it.

There were three things I liked about this book. One. Nikki reminded me of my mom. She's a great character. Smart, relatable, and easy to like. Two. She's a paralegal, and I could easily picture the layout of the office space as well as all the characters. Plus, It's not only a workplace mystery/cozy mystery, but also a legal mystery. And three. The office dynamics. It was all so believable.

This is the first of two in the Nikki Page mystery series. The second book will be out next month. This first book is a great start. I highly recommend it, especially if you love workplace drama.

This is a Nikki Page cosy mystery.

I liked Nikki as a character, and enjoyed the way she narrated openly, sharing her experiences with the reader. It seemed that a lot of unfortunate things happened to her throughout the book, but none of this was her fault, and as a result, I found the story humorous, but felt sorry for her at the same time. I really liked the mother side of her character too.

This is the first in a new series, and this is Nikki’s story, where she is a divorced, single mom of 5, and a paralegal who is working to unravel the mystery of her boss’s kidnapping.
This is a good story with mystery, danger, suspense, intrigue, emotions, humor, and secrets, which leads to a compelling murder mystery.

This story was engaging and I enjoyed have a female lead be the same age range of myself, to be a mom and have that story threaded through with the great mystery you are trying to solve. You will not go wrong by reading this story and I can't wait to read book 2, Sports Page that is coming out in August!

The story was interesting, but there are a lot of grammar and spelling issues that made reading it difficult at times.
