Design is something that many of us rarely think about, yet it pervades every aspect of our lives from the clothes we wear to the simple items we use every day, like the spoon and toothbrush. When Design Really Works takes a deeper look at the objects that enrich our lives through the examination of 80 classic designs that have stood the test of time through the centuries. Selected by the expert eye of distinguished art and design historian Susie Hodge, the entries in this book include stunning, full-color images and fascinating analysis
A pretty neat catalogue of influential designs, pretty much like going to a museum, if a bit shallow without any real sense of cohesion, with each entry being a single page.
For anyone who likes design and beautiful things, this book is a quick overview of some of the great designs of furniture, art objects, brand name products and more. With beautiful color photographs, the reader really gets a feel for why these designs have stood the test of time. It would have been nice to have a bit more detail in the text, but otherwise it a breezy and inspirational tour.
