Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World is an Unusual Girl
I loved the unusual look of the art on the cover so I didn’t really care what this new manga was about. Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World vol 1 turned out to surprise me with its depth of friendship and a look into the beautiful heart of a most unusual girl.
Did Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World vol 1 enchant this Fangirl’s heart? I think it’s already pretty evident that I loved and adored Nicola. She can’t stand to see people suffer. And refuses to believe that demons can’t change. We drop right into her friendship with Simon the demon who found her in his world. And it was delightful!
Nicola is so quirky, unusual and has such a quick temper. I loved how Simon and Nicola challenged one another. This was the #1 friendship in the volume and I found them charming together. Simon teased out the best qualities in Nicola. Her determination. Her optimism. Her love of shiny rocks!
Friendship is Nicola’s passion. Simon isn’t Nicola’s only friend. She meets a girl her own age and has an excellent play date. Her reactions to this little demon girl are hilarious! Another fierce boy is a gifted magic user… and her rival. Needless to say her temper flares meeting him.
And the demons encompass a magical world. Sure there are your human like demons like Simon and the girl and boy she befriends. But there are also supernatural creatures she meets and helps. She uses her passionate temper and her spotty magic to further her friends’ greatest desires. It’s a beautiful world of friendships!
The art of Nicola Traveling highlights all the good things. Here comes that word again… quirky. The art of Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World is different from what you typically see in manga. Sure it’s black and white but it has this immense detail that makes color unnecessary.
Plus the stark black and white art highlights the things that truly make Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World special.
As you can see a picture is worth a thousand words. If you aren’t into the typical manga or comic then you’ll want to check out Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World. It’s unusual, and intricate and focused on friendship. What a beautiful thing!
Nicola Traveling Around the Demons’ World vol 1 is the record of the delightful adventures of a most precocious little girl. One with a mega temper and spotty magic but a passion for friendship that makes the magic happen. Perfect for a quick pick me up and gorgeous art!
pf 😭 que monada es perfecto perfecto una bruja humana que la única magia que sabe hacer es la de crear flores pk su abuela le enseñó y va buscando amigos en el infierno esk amor mio
Just what I needed! A delightful, warm, and whimsical world with an ADORABLE, cheeky little main character, weird and wonderful creatures, magic, and strange adventures. Beautiful art that truly made me smile. Overall very wholesome and I can't wait to read the next volume!
This was a delightful little manga, full of fantasy creatures in the same vein as Ben Hatke or Luke Pearson. Nicola travels through the demons’ world with Simon (a demon) as her companion. She smashes stereotypes, meets ghosts, heals a fairy, and unknowingly enters a dangerous magic competition.
Would recommend to those who appreciate Hilda, Zita the Spacegirl, or Princess Cimorene.
Rating: 4 Stars ★★★★ Nicola Traveling Around The Demons' World is a charming, whimsical, beautifully illustrated manga series following Nicola alongside her demon friend as they travel to new places across a magical world. It's filled with lots of humor & different adventures each chapter!
I really want to catch up on manga series in 2021 and this series is so much fun, also VERY underrated, I know I say this with almost every new manga I read, but this one is a new favorite too.
The manga starts with Nicola and Simon evading guards, then finding themselves in the Black Bazaar to wait a while until it's safe to keep on traveling. Every chapter leads them somewhere new as it turns out, some places aren't too accepting of "other-worldly" creatures, like humans.
Also this series is incredibly funny only 1 volume in, it reminds me a lot of the Spy X Family humor! There's a great banter between Nicola and Simon who poke fun at each other and get into pretty wacky situations. SO much situational humor and fast-paced jokes that make this a HILARIOUS series too.
Worldbuilding is very interesting in this first volume. There's various cities, like Klimburg, in the demon's world, also an underground bazaar, tavern, mansion, mushroom forest, a mysterious hotel, and bustling district! Although there's lots of new places they explore across each chapter, you never really feel lost, instead there's a sense of wonder as you travel alongside Nicola and Simon discovering magic, adventure, even new creatures.
Honestly, I think the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that there's just something about the world itself that can still be explored in this first volume. There's lots of information introduced here not only about the demon world, but also hints as to where Nicola came from! It seems like there's more detail about the surrounding area or particular section of the demon world that maybe could have been described a bit more or expanded on, but other than that this was a great debut!
The art-style alone evokes such whimsy because it's a rough sketched quality to it and stands out being presented in brown ink. There's lots of detail among the characters and even the backgrounds too, making it such an immersive story.
Nicola Traveling Around The Demons' World Vol. 1 is a delightful, comedic, and whimsical start to a severely underrated manga series more people should read! If you like fantasy, magical creatures, packed with humor and whimsy, pick up this series!
Very fun and enjoyable first volume! I absolutely LOVEEEE Simon and how caring he is! Nicola is super fun too and like all the shenanigans she causes! Hehe!
The art was wonderful and I really really enjoyed my time reading this, especially since my sinuses have made me feel dizzy today, and have also had a hard time focusing! My favorite chapters were the one with Cloey (so cute!) and the ghosts (because I didn't expect that to be why they chased Nicola LOL)!
As the title suggests, this book is about Nicola and the many things she sees in the Demons' World. There are six short stories, and Nicola visits a city and market, several inns, a tournament, a mushroom forest, and a mansion. Each visit has humorous results, as humans are not allowed in the Demons' World, and Nicola rarely knows the customs and manners of a place. But her new friend Simon is there to help.
Mostly this book is cute. It certainly brings up some alarming topics, but it handles them lightly and focuses mostly on Nicola and Simon's relationship. The artwork is full of harsh lines and thoughtful details, making this a fun little read for a rainy day.
(๑>◡<๑) Me encantó ♡
Nicola Traveling Around the Demons' World, Vol. 1, by Asaya Miyanaga, is a lovely little manga about a young witch who has travelled to the Demon's world. She meets a travelling companion, a roguish travelling salesman with a kind heart. The two of them travel throughout the land in a series of small stories, visiting pleasant inns, meeting ghosts, gathering mushrooms, and learning magic. These are sweet and charming stories, with little that is overly dramatic or violent. They are perfectly cosy manga to read, and easily recommended for fans of the sweet and fun manga out there.
I first stumbled upon this series a few years ago but never got around to reading it until now and I’m so mad at myself for it! This was adorable, cozy, comforting, and everything you could want for a quick read to get lost in!
Adoro la dinámica entre Simon y Nicola, me encanta Nicola, adoro el mundo y la magia, el dibujo… LO ADORO TODO. Sabía que este iba a ser mi tipo de lectura.
Quite cute, but I didn’t care for the drawing style, which looks a bit old fashioned. Likewise, the amount of detail in the background sometimes threw me, which is strange, as I do enjoy the highly detailed Bride Story... I wonder if our MC will remain a naive wanderer or if this slice of life fantasy will morph into a battle manga. Might continue as the discussion of belonging and diversity were well-delivered.
Don't let the title trick you into thinking this series is too dark for younger audiences. Demons vary from cowardly, but adorable popays to the fluff monsters. This light-hearted fantastical and comedic slice of life series will be a hit for any age. The series follows a young human girl named Nicola who is wandering the demon world with her newly found mentor Simon, a traveling demon. Together they explore different areas of the demon world, with each adventure just as new and cute as the last one. There is some underlining plot and recurring characters, but the series mostly sticks to its small slice of life short adventures. Loved the art in this series. I particularly loved how Nicola's emotions are so well-captured in each panel. The story embraces its weirdness and doesn't shy away from it.
