The enemy Solcrue are desperate to thwart the CyberTitans' plan to get off of planet Ellipsis and rejoin the lost brothers of Rogue Fleet. If the Titans can be reunited, they might have a strong enough force to return to battle. Taline The last escape pods fall from the Solcrue warships in a mad dash for freedom. Solcrue switch from trying to capture our many sisters of servitude to simply shooting them out of the sky. It's a dangerous rescue mission that summons all available women and Titans to the surface of the planet. I'm barely back on my feet, yet I find myself in the middle of the turbulent battle, frantically collecting the last injured humans who dare defy our enemy. Among the explosions and mayhem is the red-striped medic unit, Rebel, calmly but quickly directing the rescue efforts and tending to the women and Titans in need of help. His confidence inspires hope in many until the ground disintegrates and a cavern swallows those of us who remain. A unit named Drillbit carves paths of escape for the others before he comes for me and his severely damaged brother, Rebel. When Drillbit overheats trying to bore us a route to safety, I find myself stuck as the caregiver to Rebel without help, and the protector of Drillbit who's disappeared inside a cocoon of metal. Rebel has fought to save so many, and I feel unprepared for the burden of healing him. My nursing skills are based on human anatomy, not Titan cybertech. When I dig deeper into Rebel's injuries, I discover something I am familiar with--the burden of those I could not save. His knowledge is vast compared to what he's shared with other Titans in the medbay. He's the only medic unit the rebellion has. We can't lose him. I have to give him a reason to keep fighting. If only he knew my reason for fighting to stay alive was him.RebelNot once, during all of Taline's treatments, did I see her break or pray for her life to end simply so she could be free of the painful burns. She endured the medicine and the cleaning without complaint. When she was well enough, she disappeared from my watch. That was until the last rescue mission when she appeared on the surface with the evacuation crew just before the ground swallowed us. It is one thing to carry the responsibility for every Titan and human's health and safety. It is another monster to endure the physical agony of injuries and know that because of them I am unable to help the ones who desperately need it. It is an agonizing burden. In moments of consciousness, I notice Taline dragging me to safety, doing her best to repair me, and then moving me further down the tunnels. Her determination reflects my own, but she brings an element of closeness to my care that's unexpected. Her affection is foreign. I'm used to being asked to do the impossible for others, to heal and repair what is beyond saving. Until Taline touched me, I'd lost all sense of myself in my care of others. Because of her, my programming fragments. My wild need to break rules consumes me. I can't keep my hands off of her. After we regroup with other resistance members, Taline is sent on a medical supply run with another team because she knows the supplies well. I must undergo a procedure to be fit for service. When she's captured and forced to care for the enemy, my protocols and damage can't hold me back from going after her. I don't care what risks I have to take. Rules can burn. Taline has given me the closest thing I can comprehend to feeling alive. Will Rebel be able to rescue Taline and rejoin the resistance in one piece? Or will a returning traitor get in his way? A steamy one-love, fast love, cyborg military romance with action, violence

Beneath their tough exterior lies a big-hearted man more human than machine, who would do anything to keep her safe. I genuinely enjoyed it.

Rebel is the sixth sci-fi book in the Hunted Relics series, where humans are the lower class, and Titans are used and abused by a race that takes what it wants and spits everything else out. Resistance is the only way to bring them to their knees, and that means uniting machines and humans. If only they could keep everyone safe.

Another winner from Sybur Phyre. Taline has lost a life partner and escaped a horrific life of servitude to the oppressive Solcrue slavers. While tending to scores of wounded and dying humans and Titans alike, she works alongside Titans Drillbit and Rebel, patching Rebel up enough to keep him sentient and freeing Drillbit from a slow death in a metal tomb. Along the way she realizes she has feelings stronger than just admiration for the stoic Rebel.

Titan Rebel has watched in reverent awe as human Taline works longer and with more dedication than any other human among their groups on Ellipsis. When she must tend to him after Taline, he and Drillbit are swept underground during a tunnel collapse, he’s realized he’s fallen for the human, but feels he’s too damaged for someone like her. When she’s captured by the Solcrue, he intends to extract her and destroy as many of them as possible. Will they both make it out alive, or will he sacrifice himself to save the woman he loves?

This novella offered a nuanced look at PTSD, even if it didn’t specifically name it. Rebel was definitely wrestling with it, to the point he actually tried to fire his service weapon at his own head. This probably solidified Taline’s determination to save the scarred Titan.

I received an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel, and I’m pleased to share my honest impressions.

Too short, Rebel deserved more!

This was short, fast, and a little too shallow in many places.

Rebel the medic was recognisable at the start, but as the story progressed, he sounded more and more, vague, generic, and lacking a recognisable personality.

Further, the story arc was basically too brief, and too simplistic.
He deserved better, especially as an original from the first novella, and one of the only characters included in every book within the series.

Further, we never really got to know the FMC, with too many of her details and backstory told to us, rather than shown.
She is eminently forgettable. Which is a shame, as she’s an interesting and relevant character.

Looking at this as a novella, I could still call it decent, but nothing more. It failed to progress the overall plot at all, reading more like a short filler than a actual book. Especially as we are now at B7, and others were so much better, both story and plot wise.
In that sense, this was a total letdown.

I didn’t hate it, and was able to read it easily without pause. But while it does include details that will be relevant in later books, I doubt I will remember much of it, and won’t bother including it in any future re-reads.
In all probability, those relevant details will most likely be recapped, and easily picked up without this.

I hope at some later stage, the author chooses to do a re-write. I would absolutely re-read it under those circumstances.

Can’t wait to get back to the saga, and have the story and characters progress once more.
Still absolutely love this, and would be willing to try anything else by this author.

Rebel, the male cyborg lead, is the only medic the rebellion has. He’s been built to run constantly, requiring a minimum of sleep, food, or fuel, but his mental resilience is wearing out because he never gets a break. But he noticed Taline when he treated her because he admired her resilience in the face of burn treatment without anaesthetic.

Taline, the female human lead, was a nurse, both before and after her capture, and she has deep respect for the work that Rebel does. When he saves her during a rescue operation, she has a chance to return the favour. But depression is hitting Rebel hard. Can she help him see that he has value even when he can’t do his assigned task?

They also need to get away from human traitors and back to their crew…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a fast-paced, adventure, sci fi romance. I enjoyed Taline’s determination and perseverance, and appreciated her survival focus. I enjoyed Rebel’s character development, particularly how he realised that he could be more than a job. I enjoyed the way the characters pushed back against their oppressors. I enjoyed their intimate moments.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Rebel is the combat medic for the CyberTitans, who also heals human women. Taline, a human with nursing skills goes on a mission with Rebel to save more human women. But in the melee, Taline is hurt, and Rebel puts his life on the line to save her. While trying to return to safety Rebel falls into a crevasse and is buried under rocks and is badly injured. He gets depressed as he must shut down which he has never done before. Taline tries to save him by administering her skills in medicine on a CyberTitan. They overcome many obstacles; while dealing with these, they grow closer and eventually the path leads to them admitting that they love each other.

An excellent story from the CyberTitan series, where you find yourself living the action along side our heroes. Each book is a standalone, but to keep the context and setting the scene start with book 1 and follow along the journey. I loved reading this series and cannot wait until the next book.

I did receive an Advance Reader Copy, and this is my honest review.

The Cyber Titans continue their battle against the Solcrue. Rebel is their healer and he works nonstop to save as many Titans and human women as he can. He is feeding overwhelmed and hopeless and doesn’t know how to handle the new emotions he is experiencing. But there is one female that he can’t stop watching. Even though Taline has been badly burned she is constantly helping others.

Taline finally escaped from the Solcrue and is trying to help the resistance as best as she can so they can find a way off Ellipsis. She is amazed by Rebel and his dedication to help others. But who looks out for Rebel.

When she and Rebel are stranded during an attempt to rescue others above ground, Rebel is severely injured and Taline is the only one around to help him. As she nurses him back to health, they are finally able to get to know each other. But can she get him strong enough to find the other’s?

Excellent addition to the series! Don’t miss it!

Rebel

Each book they get a little closer to freedom. This one is medics falling in love.

The hierarchy that humans naturally create everywhere makes so little sense,

“...if she’ll even have a lesser soldier like me. I am not a protector. I am a healer by design.”

This reminds me of playing vids in a group and just how critical the healer is to the health and longevity of the team. We glorify warriors but it's the healers that keep us all going especially as we age.

The difference between murder and war is an interesting dilemma. It just feels so patriarchal to decide that killing someone one way is okay but not another way.

“Why would I ever help an accomplice in the murder of thousands of humans?”

“Because it was war not murder,...”

The justification some people have for killing being okay because it was war, has always seemed false to me. Compartmentalizing things in this way can be used to justify the worst offenses.

I loved reading about Taline and Rebel. Two medics, one human and one Titan, who need each other to help lift the burden of being unable to save everyone. This is a beautiful story about these two that tugs at the heart. They both have gone through so much and seen so much that it was so nice to see them find comfort and love in one another. Taline has that innate inner strength that all the really good nurses have, and Rebel needs that. His strength comes from just being a Titan, but he cares just as much as she does. Both amazing characters that I am so glad I got to read about.
I just would highly recommend you start with the first one in the series. These are not cliffhanger books at all, but the big picture arc needs to be read from the beginning to really grasp what is going on. There’s a lot of moving parts that makes so much more sense if you’ve read the rest of the series. Just a heads up.
I did receive an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

“Rebel cares for everyone. It’s time someone cared for him.”

Taline is a human nurse learning to use her skills to help CyberTitans as well as humans.

Rebel is a CyberTitan medic nearing exhaustion from an unending mission.

This book tells a delightful story about two people used to fighting for others, with their medical skills and life-saving knowledge. When their lives intersect they find in one another not just a kindred spirit but, but someone who can understand the emotional weight they carry, someone who might be able to share the load simply by understanding, and appreciating what it is they do. Perhaps their greatest moments are when they fight for one another.

This was an enjoyable alien-cyber romance story to read, my first in this series. Though this is the seventh book I was able to follow this storyline. There's "lots of action" and some romance written in an engaging short story. The worldbuilding was comprehensive for this story. This series is about the survivors in a war against the Solcrue who are stuck on the planet Ellipsis. This story is about Rebel and Tagline. I found the characters personable and interesting as I read their adventure in this enjoyable copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

Both main characters are quite similar: healing the casualties of war. Rebel is a cyber Titan medic on a war torn planet and Taline assists him. His task is unending, depressing and almost hopeless. He has feelings but mostly guilt. Taline keeps him going, encouraging, assisting him without complaint and all while in pain herself. Death and danger surrounds them. Eventually they stumble across something that gives them hope but won’t stop the war…..yet.

A human woman and a male cyborg!

A human woman was a nurse in a hospital before being kidnapped by aliens. She was able to escape in a evacuation pod after being shot. A male cyborg is a medical unit that repairs cyborgs and has been working on human women who have been escaping from the aliens. You will have to read the book to find out what all happens to everyone. Happy reading!

I loved this story about Rebel and Taline. Both medics, but one a Titan and the other human. Rebel is a cyborg but still has feelings.

They are fleeing from the evil Solcrue who are trying to kill them.

This is an interesting story. Even though it is the 7th book in the Relics series it can be read as a standalone book.

I received this as an arc. An interesting fun read, a romantic suspense story with a lot more to offer. The ethics of war, redemption, finding your self worth. What matters most if you bleed blood or lubricant when shot or your ethical standards? Whilst well written and suspenseful the time line did drag, an exceedingly slow and drawn-out escape.

Thinking, feeling cyborgs in space!

Of course, humans have to get involved in any drama. So all work together for peace, and choices. Somewhere along the way, searching hearts meet. And then the bad guys…why are there always bad guys?! 🥵🥰😍

Action! Action! Action!

These books are fraught with action...of all kinds. Rebel is a shorter read that packs plenty of punch. What happens when a human nurse and a CyberTitan work together? Harmonious relations.

The start of the book was a little confusing with characters and events. Midway the book, the flow of the events and characters came together. A very good love story. Thank you for sharing.

Sweet, Sweet Rebel!

Rebel is book 7 in the Hunted Relics series and we finally get to spend some time with the quiet and serious Rebel, but first you should start this series from the beginning. The characters and events from all previous books are referenced or pop in and out of each other story and tie together. These make for a wonderful binge read!

As a Titan medic Rebel never takes a break and feels responsible to fix everyone. His rebellious nature causes him to push his limits until he has to rely on someone else to care for him. Rebel is insecure and emotionally drained (Yes, these Titans are definitely emotional beings) but he finds comfort and an unexpected attraction to a Human who has had her own mental turmoil. She is smart, strong and admittedly alone so she is determined to care for and rebuild a broken Titan.

There was a great little tease at the end when we meet a new Titan and I am excited to see where the next book takes us. I am off to read Craze next!

Sybur Phyre’s Rebel is a fast paced novella that continues the Titans’ quest to overcome their enemies and leave their embattled planet. Rebel is a Titan healer. When he is injured, female human Taline has to step up to heal him though she’s used to caring for flesh and blood patients, not those needing repair. The two unite to save each other and others and fall in love on the way! Awesome book!

Love is an act of rebellion

CyberTitan Rebel is the one who saves his brothers, and their human allies. Not a soldier, he's a combat medic who never stops. Human nurse Taline is drawn to him, recognizing a kindred spirit, as they save who they can, comfort the dying, and vow vengeance and victory for their kind. This beautiful, sad, touching and ultimately hopeful battlefield romance had me in tears sometimes, sometimes burning with anger, but always right THERE with Taline and Rebel. Their healing journey lifts them from despair to love for each other, and a new purpose for the rebellion. The CyberTitan - human alliance is such a compelling story, and this seventh book in the series does justice to the overall vision of freedom and a shared new world. This is a voluntary independent ARC review.
