I love Carly Phillips. She's one of my favorite authors, but for some reason, this book just did nothing for me.
It wasn't a bad story, I just couldn't get into it. Jake Lowell and Brianne Nelson were likable enough characters, the storyline was fast-paced and exciting, but maybe that was it. It was too exciting and not hot enough.
There was sexual tension galore between the two lead characters, but it didn't get acted upon until the story was at the halfway point.
This read more like an Intrigue or a Romantic Suspense novel than a Blaze Temptation, at least for me. That has to be my main problem with the book. I wanted more heat and Carly was giving out more cops and drug dealers only not as exciting.
It just felt very middle of the road for whichever genre you placed it in for me. I wanted more. I also would have liked to have met Brianne's brother, since she speaks of him so much, and considering that it is summer, its hard to understand why he was in school.
It took me 4 days to make it through this 250 page book. That's something I could usually do in about a day. So something didn't grab me. I wish I could gush about this one, but it just wasn't for me.
Jake is a police detective who was injured the same night that his partner was killed and if that wasn’t bad enough the man responsible has been set free. While he has been healing, he has been investigating the case without his superiors knowledge. His sister has been concerned about his lack of progress so she hires Brianne, who happens to be a physiotherapist, to assist.
Brianne will do anything for her brother and that includes working multiple jobs. When Jake’s sister offers her the opportunity to work for her brother it is exactly what she needs as this will allow her to earn the money she needs to move so that she can remain close to her brother. As the feelings escalate between them so does the danger as Brianne has caught the attention of the wrong man.
Humorous interactions, great chemistry and a great balance between romance and suspense.
Jake Lowell is just going through the motions, life took a turn after he was shot and his partner was killed. When he meets a pretty young waitress something stirs inside him but he lets it go. He doesn't want to do physical therapy but knows he must to get back on the job. Color him surprised that his therapist happens to be the pretty young waitress he met previously. Brianne Nelson has to work two jobs to make ends meet and is shocked when her new PT patient is a handsome man that she served at her waitressing job. She hasn't been able to get the sexy stranger out of her head since she met him. The two try to keep it professional but the attraction just can't be denied. Will the two end up together before they both go up in flames?

Meets Brianne Nelson, physical therapist during the day and waitress who works at the local bar at night..what happens next is meddling from Jake’s sister to bring them together…
Sizzling romance, little suspense, cat and mouse game, keeping Brianne safe, action and more...read on to see if Jake gets the drug dealer behind bars and also gets the girl…
I enjoyed this book. The story was romantic, thrilling and suspenseful and held my interest very well. The chemistry really sparks and sizzles between Jake and Brianne and when you add in hefty helpings of heart and sweetness, and you have yourself an entertaining and engaging read. This is my frank, freely posted review.
I loved that Jake (a detective on medical leave) and Brianne (a waitress at evenings and PT during the day) didn’t meet, but had fantasies about the other. Jake had an ex wife that decided she didn’t like how little money he made and wasn’t around much a few years after they were married so divorced him. I could understand Jake deciding he didn’t want any long term relationship with a woman who would leave him again. I felt bad for Brianne as all her life her parents thrived on life threatening experiences, and no matter how much she begged them to stop but they didn’t listen or care what their daughter wanted. Hence they ended dying in a plane crash during turbulent weather. I thought the world of Brianne raising her younger brother. Of course she didn’t want anyone who put their life on the line for a job. I loved how Jake’s sister intervened and hired Brianne for her PT skills on her brother while she was out of the country for three months. His sister had some other surprises for the two! This book was exciting, suspenseful, and romantic. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
Berkat "perjodohan" Rina, kakak Jake, Brianne tergiur dgn upah besar sbg terapis kakak Rina.
Brianne Nelson, a physical therapist, meets a cop on leave Jake Lowell. With a little help from his siser, unbeknownest to him, they are thrown together for a steamy get to know you summer. Some of the issues they deal with I liked getting to understand because they made the characters a bit more real and not just a hook-up. Carly does it again for me. (It says #4 in the SIMPLY series if your interested in reading the SIMPLy sexy, sinful, and scandalous books first. Not neccessary in that order, but those are the other books I read in the series.)
*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*
Detective Jake Lowell was injured on the job and is in need of physical therapy if he hopes to return to the force. But his main concern is to find the guy who shot him and killed his partner that same night. He doesn’t want to have to play by the rules, so he’s rehabbing himself slowly, while working off-book with other detectives who have picked up the case. His sister Rina, concerned that Jake isn’t helping himself get better to rejoin the force, gifts him with his very own physical therapist for the month he is housesitting her dog while she goes on an Italian getaway.
Brianne Nelson works at the hospital during the day as a physical therapist and has a second job at night as a waitress to help pay for her brother’s private school. She’s all he has, and she wants him to have the very best. When Rina overhears a conversation between Brianne and her boss, she approaches Brianne with moving into her apartment for the month and working on her brother. The money is too good to pass up, so she agrees to it without meeting Rina’s brother.
Brianne never expected the brother to be the gorgeous guy that she’s seen Rina with at the restaurant every week. And Jake didn’t know what to expect from Rina’s note about a present she left him as a thank you for staying with her dog, but it definitely wasn’t the woman he’s been lusting after. Now he has to figure out how to prove to Brianne that he doesn’t need her help but keep her there, so she doesn’t lose out on the money promised by his sister.
Their attraction is off the charts. It doesn’t take long for them to become involved in some steamy sessions in the personal gym in the apartment. Which leads to another complication in that the guy that Jake is after starts stalking Brianne (because he can), which puts her in real danger. Can Jake keep Brianne safe without her ever knowing she’s in harm's way? Or will Brianne be her own heroine in this story? Plus, once Brianne knows the whole story, will she be able to trust Jake? Is there even a future for the two of them?
Body Heat is a re-issue of book #4 in the Simply Series, which was first released in 2002.
This was a good read. Loved the characters. Jake is a detective on leave after being shot while trying to bust a drug dealer, the same shooter who killed her partner and the same shooter who walked free on a technicality. Jake has been doing physical therapy on his own in private so his boss or sister doesn’t find out he is getting better as fast as he is, so he can continue to put all his focus on trying to bust his shooter, Ramirez. Jake meets with his sister Rina very often at a nearby café. A café Jake now goes to all the time because of the attractive waitress that has caught his attention. Brianne is a physical therapist during the day and a waitress in the evening so she can continue to support her brother in school. Brianne has seen Jake while at her waitressing job many times and she feels the attraction towards him but has never talked to him or acted on the attraction. Now out of the blue the attractive woman Brianne has watched Jake with every time he has been at her Cafe is now looking to have a discussion with her. Brianne wonders if the woman has noticed how she has starred at the sexy man every time they are there and now wants to confront her on it. But to Brianne’s surprise, the woman (Rina) just wants to offer her a job helping her brother with physical therapy till the end of summer which includes Brianne living in Rina’s penthouse while she is away. After Brianne accepts the job from Rina which will allow her to give up her apartment and to quit her waitressing job and still give her enough money to be able to move after the summer is over, she is extremely surprised to see Rina’s brother is none other than sexy man from the café. Jake is equally surprised to see Brianne is the woman his sister has hired to do his physical therapy. Can Jake keep his sole focus on Ramirez while the beautiful Brianne is living in the same penthouse he is and gets as close to him as she does when they are working out his shoulder? And can Brianne resist Jake so she doesn’t lose her once in a lifetime job and the security the money she is making from the job gives her to move to California with her brother after the summer ends?
This book is the fourth in the Simply Series. It is being republished from its original September 2001 release of the same title, with a new cover, since the author regained rights from the former publisher. It is updated a bit, but close to the original.
Jake is a police detective on leave from a gun shot and shoulder injury at a drug dealer bust that went wrong. Worse, it cost him his partners life. The drug dealer got out of jail on a technicality. Jake is trying to heal, helping his partner's wife and kids and determined to get the perp off the streets for good.
Brianne has been the sole provider for her minor brother for eight years. She works days as a physical therapist and nights as a waitress to have tuition money for her brilliant brother to attend private school. Soon, he will be in California on scholarships at Stanford, and Brianne wants to move to be near him.
Jake's wealthy, widowed sister sees how Jake keeps eyeing the waitress at their favorite restaurant. It turns out Brianne is a physical therapist who could use a good break. Her brother is a stubborn man who won't see a physical therapist but needs one. Rina is going to be away on a trip for a month. Rina sets Jake up to dog and house sit for her and Brianne up to be a live in PT during her evenings with enough pay to make her life easier.
Jake and Brianne have a chemistry that flares hot every time they are close. Can she stay professional and help Jake heal? Can he hide the background police work he is doing outside of work to bring in the drug dealer from his Chief, Sister and Brianne? There will be some crazy summer days, sizzling hot summer nights and suspense mixed in for this couple.
Carly Phillips is doing a reboot of this existing book, with a new cover. Jake Lowell has been a dedicated narcotics police officer. When his partner is killed, in a bust gone bad, Jake just can't let it go. Especially when the perp got out on a technicality. He's faking that's he's more injured than he actually is, to investigate on the downlow. He has weekly meet ups with his widowed sister at this bar, that has a waitress, he's lusting after. He just doesn't want to get involved with her because he's busy (at least in his mind). Brianne is a waitress by night, but her career is a physical therapist. She's working two jobs to pay for her much younger brother's schooling. She is his only caretaker because their parents died in a reckless accident. Their parents always acted like the kids were an inconvenience and lived the life they wanted. When Jake's sister finds out Brianna is a physical therapist, she hires her to rehab her brother, by living in her empty penthouse. She just doesn't mention that her brother will be living there too. Since this is an older story and the author's writing has grown and developed, in the years since she published this book, I was a bit disappointed. The story is quite predicable. The characters, for all their buildup of wanting to be cautious leap right into passion. I felt the storyline was a bit jaded and I had a hard time reading the story. I was constantly distracted by anything and everything to avoid continuing. Yes, it's a light mindless read. If that's what you are looking for, then this is your book. Thank you to Carly Phillips for the advanced copy.
The typical ours eye meet across the room and magic happens! Not for Jake and Brianne, their eyes do meet and the instant attraction and heat they can't deny but they don't connect for some time. Thanks to a meddling sister and her just trying to look out for her brother love.
Jake Lowell, is on leave from the force due to a gunshot that took the life of his partner. He's unsure where life will take him at this point and is refusing physical therapy to buy himself time to track down the drug dealer in the deal that went terribly wrong. He wants to do this on his own without having to answer to anyone. His sister, Rina, however has different ideas! Thanks to Rina's meddling and the discovery that the beautiful waitress at the cafe they have been meeting at every week is also a PT, she decides to play matchmaker. She has noticed the sparks flying between her brother and the beauty every time they see each other and has a plan!
She sets them up to be living together at her place for the summer. Brianne thinks this is a golden opportunity to give her brother the life he wants and her too with the financial freedom it will bring. However, she doesn't expect to fall for the guy whose eyes set her on fire just with a look.
It's an interesting journey for these two, trying to protect their hearts and for Jake trying to keep one more person safe. Watch them fall in love and find their way to a life together.
How did I miss this one? I probably have the paperback somewhere. Anyway! Jake Lowell is still recovering after being injured on the job, i.e., shot by the same criminal drug dealer who killed his partner and best friend and then was set free on a technicality. Now all he wants is to find some evidence to get Ramirez back behind bars where he belongs. Brianna Nelson is a physical therapist by day and waitress by night at the same cafe where Jake and his sister, Rina, have been hanging out and Jake and Brianna have been exchanging glances, heated ones at that, but never anything else. Rina is spending the summer in Italy with a friend after the death of her husband and asked Jake to apartment sit and take care of her dog and she enlists Brianna to also move in...for her special physical therapy. Yea, she really is setting them up but she really wants to help Jake recover too. Little does everyone know but Ramirez had found Brianna behind the scenes and set his eyes on her too. Close quarters and chemistry are all it takes for Jake and Brianna to drop their guard and nature to take over. How soon will it take to bring the bad guy in too. This was a great read and perfect for a summer afternoon!
Brianne is a physical therapist and works part time at a bar. This is where she spotted Jake and notices how she is attractive to him. Jake is on leave from the police department. He got shot and his partner was killed during a drug bust gone bad. He met his sister to eat several nights a week, but he had noticed Brianne, but did not have the courage to meet her.
So, his sister took matters into her own hands. She arranged to go of town for the summer and asked her brother to apartment sit. And spoke to Brianne about doing physical therapy for her brother and invited her to spend the summer in her apartment to help save money. But she did not tell neither one of them.
Brianne & Jake realized they were set up. They could not deny the attraction between them. With both trying to ignore it, it gets interesting. Jake is trying to save Brianne and she is trying to save him.
To make this book just that little bit more special was the suspense in this book. Carly is great in adding that to her stories and once again she had me guessing what was going to happen next.
I was given a copy of this ARC for my honest opinion.
First, I need to say that it was a fabulous read! I wasn’t able to figure out what link this book had to the previous three books in this series, until the end, so I felt like I was reading a “stand alone” book. Jake Lowell was deeply hurt by his ex-wife. His career as a detective is all he has left, but the dangerous part of it is not sitting well with him anymore. He has a few loose ends to tie up before he can think about making a change. Brianne Nelson’s life revolves around taking care of her gifted younger brother since their risk-taking parents died in an accident. It isn’t until they are set up by Jake’s widowed sister that Brianne decides to spread her wings and do something for herself, and Jake decides that he'd like to give love another chance. This story quickly turns into a “Romantic Suspense” because of the case that Jake is personally involved in as a detective on the police force. I truly enjoyed reading this story! Can’t wait to read the following book in this series where Jake’s widowed sister finds love again! Five Stars!!!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jake is a police officer who is shot the same night his partner is killed . He has a lot of healing to do but if I was shot and the man responsible was set lose I’d be livid and just like Jake investigating on the down low. He is so focused on this he isn’t really making any progress in his healing so his sister hires a therapist for him Brianne. She is a physiotherapist and also works part time at a cafe. She’s is working so much because of her brother and needs the money to be able to move closer to him so this job opportunity is really what she needs to accomplish this. She’s also one night met a sexy stranger who has been the atar of many of her fantasies but she’s never seen him again Fate has really stepped in and Jake to her surprise is that guy. These two have some chemistry between them for sure and are actually going to have you laughing so much But we can’t forever that Jake is on a mission to find who shot him and because of their spending so much time together Brains now just might be a target. A perfect mix of romance and suspense it was a book that I really enjoyed.

After being shot and his partner getting killed, Jake is on leave until he heals. His sister is scheming and hires a physical therapist to do one on one therapy. Brianne is a physical therapist and waitress, who’s trying to save money to send her little brother to school. Brianne’s parents were thrill seekers and were killed in a plane accident. She is left raising her brother and staying away from anyone who is into danger. Jake and Brianne figure out his sisters plan and decide to have a summer fling until Brianne leaves for California. Jake has been working a case to get the drug dealer who killed his partner. But Brianne is in his crosshairs and that is something Jake cannot allow to happen.
Excellent story. Action, sex, and a little suspense. Brianne is beautiful and doesn’t realize how strong she is. Jake was burnt by his first wife and thinks all women are like her. Together they are sizzling.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author and Booksprout *
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...
Jake Lowell is a Detective who was shot on the job and the same person who shot him killed his partner; he plans on finding who did it, but since he is injured he will need physical therapy before doing anything else. Unfortunately for Jake, his sister, Rina, doesn't trust his healing methods especially while she is on vacation so she hires a physical therapist, Brianne Nelson. Brianne is working 2 jobs to put her little brother through private school because she wants him to succeed and have the best of everything.
It just so happens Jake and Brianne have met multiple times at the restaurant she works; it turns out they have some feelings for each other and things heat up quickly. However, there is crazy murdered on the loose and it seems that Brianne is now in his sights,
This was a sweet yet sexy thriller and I just loved the connection between Jake and Brianne.
Since Brianne Nelson’s parents have died in a plane crash, she never had any anxiety attacks. As young as her twenty-age at the time, she’d had to pull herself together in order to raise her younger brother Marc. She wanted stability and steadfastness for her brother, things she never had had while growing up because their parents loved for their care-free life have overlooked the fact they had had a teenage daughter and a much younger son to take care of. But they were one of those that thrived on danger…adrenaline junkies that ultimately led them to their early grave, much to Brianne’s disappointment and perhaps relief that her anxiety attacks and days of sleeping over next-door neighbors have stopped.
Now, as a full-grown woman still trying to make ends meet because she wanted her brother to have the life she never had, sent him to a special private school which her Physical Therapy job couldn’t very well afford. So, she’d had to acquire a second job as a waitress thanks to her best friend who hired her who’s both the bartender and owner of the resto-bar. She was living her comfortable, albeit rather frugal, vulnerability-free way of life until she became aware of one customer who seemed to frequent the bar. He was the most gorgeous and sexy guy she ever cared to lay eyes on and whenever he looked at her, his eyes seems to caress her. But they have never spoken to one another… only looked at each other from across the crowded bar sizzling with sexual chemistry that only the two of them were aware of. She’d often wondered if she would ever meet with him on a personal level. Brianne thought it funny that since she’d seen him in the bar, he’s starred her dreams in a most erotic and sensual way. A man of her fantasy!
But that fantasy were put into reality when she was hired by a wealthy young woman who needed a physical therapist for her brother. Their agreement were that she moved into the penthouse and live with her brother the entire summer while working on his progress, while she’d be gone, away holidaying in Italy. It was a nice set-up. She’d have a summer’s free rent and the pay was so generous, she could save up some after Marc’s tuition. Although she’d enjoyed waiting on Jack’s bar, she never did care for it, so she’s more than happy to give it up. Though, at some point it made her sad that she wouldn’t be able to see anymore much less gone the chance that she would finally get the courage to come up and talk to the man who became the object of her desires. Well, she guessed that some things were not truly meant to be… or NOT! Because when she finally met with her patient… she was stunned and rather dazed to find that it was none other than the gorgeous and sexy man she’s wanted for ages…Jake Lowell. And when she learned the reason he needed the therapy was because he’s a cop who busted his shoulder during a dangerous assignment…she was disillusioned! She knew right there and then that the best course of action had to distance herself and not get involved. She could never be vulnerable again and risk anxiety attacks. Just the term danger made her hyperventilate. Although, once their therapy had started, she couldn’t seem to get enough of touching Jake, he was proving to be harder to resist than she originally thought.
Jake Lowell was on forced leave of duty until he could prove to the station that he’s physically fit to work on assignment once more. He’s extremely upset because he had to sit out the most important case of his life where he needed to nail the scum who killed his best friend and fellow cop, Frank. He just had this intense driving need to put away Louis Ramirez, the drug-dealing cop-killer scum who had been causing several college-aged teenagers to OD on drugs. And since he’s officially off the case because he’s on leave, he’s really bored out of his wits until he saw HER in a bar where he’d agreed to meet his sister for a drink. She’s the most beautiful and sexy waitress he’d ever seen and couldn’t help the sputter of powerful sexual awareness he instantly felt towards her. From then on, he went to the same bar for drinks several times a week just to have a glimpse of her. They never speak or anything, but he knew that she’s as much aware of him as he was of her sensually. The air around them practically sizzled when they look at each other. His nights were consumed by thinking about her if not of his case against Ramirez. But mostly his thoughts were occupied by one sexy waitress, dreaming and fantasizing about her. If he wanted to pursue her, then he had to wrap the case soon. But first he had to put himself on physical therapy sessions so he could return to work as soon as he’s physically fit and able. And also to get his sister Rina off his back and stop badgering him to visit rehab and make himself better. He’s also agreed to babysit her penthouse and dog Norton while she’s away for the summer. Since she’s his only sister and family, he was humoring her. Besides she’s got him a surprise the day she went off on her vacation. And surprised he definitely was… because Rina’s surprise had turn out to be none other than his fantasy came to life, Brianne Nelson! And he’s got her all to himself for the summer. He thought he’d died and gone to heaven, LOL!
Body Heat was really a very good story. The story line was really great and the principal characters were both likeable. They have depth and character especially Brianne. She was rather amazing in this story taking care of her brother Marc. She was really selfless. And one thing that made the story terrific was the dose of conflict in it. The character of Louis made for a very compelling antagonist. I must admit the conflict of the story and the hot sizzling sex have added to the anticipation and excitement of reading it.
Jake and Brianne see each other a few times a week in a place of business that Brianne waitresses at after he regular daytime job of a physical therapist, that he frequents with his sister just so he can see her. The attraction is mind blowing. Jake is a detective and on medical leave because he was shot. Well now, Jake needs physical therapy for his shoulder. His sneaky sister makes it so they are now staying in her penthouse; Jake house sitting and walking the dog, and Brianne giving Jake physical therapy while she goes to Italy. How ironic is that? This story leaves Jake and Brianne second guessing everything because of their pasts. This is a really enjoyable but intense story with sexy steamy scenes, and mystery and danger, also. I so recommend this read. You’ll love it!
This is the fourth book in the Simply series. I really liked Brianne and Jake. They have a such great chemistry. I loved Jake's meddling sister Rina. She sets into motion of events that's definitely eventful. Though my heart goes out to her for what she's experiencing. This book had plenty of heart, heat, and humor, but it also has the perfect touch of suspense. There is a nasty character in this one that has caused a lot of pain and destruction especially with Jake. There were moments that kept me on the edge of my seat. Brianne has such a good heart, and her past has left her not too much of a fan of Jake's occupation, but it was beautiful to watch her grow and look at life from a different perspective. It's a good read that will hook you with great characters. I just loved Norton. He was a favorite character of mine.
I loved this book. It had everything I wanted and more. A meddling… oops I meant matchmaking sister, a tough cop, a sweet heroine who isn’t looking for anything but stumbles upon it, and a dog who steals my heart. Brianne and Jake have chemistry before they even speak and it only gets better from there. They both try to resist what’s going on but eventually find it futile. Jake’s sister makes sure they have access to each other and their attraction takes care of the rest. Don’t get me wrong the journey there is the slow hot burn I love. Then there is the case that Jake isn’t supposed to be working on and all of it has the potential to go off the rails. Love this book and can’t wait for so much more.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Injured detective Jake Lowell is determined to get the drug dealer who shot him and killed his partner. He is unofficially working the case while supposedly recuperating. Brianne Nelson is a Physical therapist during the day and a waitress during the evenings and the main star in all of Jakes fantasies. He has no plans on acting on his intense attraction but thanks to his meddling sister, Brianne and Jake are flatmates for a month and she is also his Physical therapist. Jake and Brianne have a chemistry that flares hot every time they are in close proximity and not giving in to such an intense connection is not possible. A sizzling hot romance, suspense, an adorable dog, entertaining banter and some action make this an entertaining read.
Body Heat is the 4th book in the Simply Series. This is Jake Lowell and Brianne Nelson’s story. Jake was injured on the job. Brianne is a Physical Therapist who has been hired by Jake’s sister to help him recover. She is to move into his sister’s place, where Jake is also staying to rehab him.
I have had a hard time reviewing this book. I just had a harder time connecting with the characters. It was quite surprising to me because every book that I have picked up by Carly Phillips has been a hit for me! I am not saying that this book was bad. Just not one of my favorites and I am not sure why.
This author is one of my favorites and I am looking forward to the next book. Whether in this series or anything else she writes! 3.5 Stars
When I read the synopsis of this story, I was all in. Jake is a police detective who was injured while on the line of duty. This does not stop him from going after the man who sidelined him and killed his partner. The problem is his meddlesome sister has paired him with a live in physical therapist. With Brianne around, he is unable to go through with his plan. Brianne isn’t only messing with his mission but messing with his mind. He cannot stop thinking of her. The attraction between us then is hard for either of them to resist. But will Jake be able to protect her from the danger surrounding him?
This close proximity suspense romance will have you on edge. If you want a quick read that has excitement and heat, pick this one up now.
I loved the premise of this one. An interfering sister notices the sparks flying between her brother and a very attractive woman and she schemes to get the physical therapist living with him for a month. Add in a touch of intrigue with a criminal that Jake is determined to catch, and it's a good story. There was something that didn't click for me. I don't know if it's because this is an older book that's being re-released or what, but it didn't feel like the Carly I've come to know and love. I wanted a bit more build up between Jake and Brianne and maybe even a bit more intrigue as they figure out what they're doing.
An enjoyable read, maybe 3.5 stars, but I rounded up.
Jake & Brianne. Triggers- sexual assault, drugs, assault. This fourth book in the series was definitely different but just didn't quite hit, for me. The story was just kind of slow and the end was very anticlimactic considering the dramatic buildup. Once again there's a pushy family member focusing on setting up her brother and who is better than the physio therapist who doubles as a waitress. Brianne is hired thinking she's there to provide therapy to Jake. Jake is a cop, who is currently out on medical after getting shot. Though that's not stopping him from trying to catch the drug dealer who shot him. I didn't really feel a connection with these two and the story was kind of slow. The narrator was terrible this time. Very monotone for both characters.
Whoa! Body Heat is a sizzling hot, sexy and suspenseful read that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The chemistry between Brianne and Jake is incredibly intense from the first moment they lay eyes on each other, and it doesn't help their plan to stay away from each other when they find out they'll be roommates thanks to Jake's meddling sister. Add to that a cop killer roaming the streets that Jake wants to put behind bars for the murder of his partner and friend, and you have a gripping novel on your hands that will keep you up all night until you read the last page. I highly recommend this thrilling page-turner.
