About the author

An author, musician, counseling psychologist, and animal rights activist, Dariel writes interracial/multicultural paranormal romance and dark urban fantasy featuring shifters, Nephilim, angels, and reluctant demons, all filled with action, alpha heroes, and strong heroines. As a child, she could always be found curled up with her dogs, cats, and a good book, even if the book was a dictionary or encyclopedia. Things have not changed much.

Dariel is a classically trained soprano, and plays more than 11 musical instruments. She also completed coursework and passed comprehensives for a Ph.D. in Instructional Design (ABD), tutors writing, algebra, and statistics, and readily admits to being a Netflix paranormal and action series binge-watcher.

This promises to be an excellent series. Cord, a sentinel shifter - pack protectors, lost his entire family to a mad man trying to cure all illness with shifter blood. Cord has just met his mate. After only talking on the phone but Syreena knows Cord's the one. Being a sentinel shifter also, they just clicked. But when Syreena finds a lead to the man that killed Cord's family, she wants to jump right in. That's when the trouble starts.
Like I said, if this little prequel is any kind of indicator, I think it's be really good. I can see mystery, thrills and more naughty parts getting my heart going.

A decent, shifter folklore story. Cord Velasquez, a wolf shifter sentinel, lost his family to a madman when his sister's impulsiveness brought her into the sights of their nemesis. Dr. Syreena Adler, also a sentinel, formed a strong link with him from across the country. Their chemistry is off the chart. The ending is a cliffhanger which might be expected from a prequel. Recommended if you intend to read the series.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Romantic. Scary. Steamy. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

This new land of shifters is an exciting one! Meet Syreena who is on her way to meet Cord, who she knows is her mate!!
Lots of action and adventure and some very sexy scenes - a quick read to get you off to read Sable's story - he is Syreena's twin!!! Awesome read - I was given this as a gift with no strings attached and happy to recommend it to other fans of the shifter worlds!!

This was a fantastic intro to the Dark Sentinel series. It's a very quick read, but gives some background color. It may be short, but it does what it needs to- grabs your attention and makes you immediately want to start the next book, Sable. If you like shifter stories a highly recommend you grab this. You won't be disappointed!

This was an excellent beginning for the series. Syreena believes she has found her mate in Cord. A new adventure that leads to a kidnapping. I am looking forward to continuing the series to see what happens next.

D.S. Prequel is a heartwarming, quick read, that sets the stage for one of my favorite series by this talented author. Dariel Raye, gives readers a wonderful, emotion filled journey, with life like characters, whose connection is palpable. The sexual tension is apparent and believable from the beginning. It also has enough romance to warm even heart and bring readers fully into the tale.

Loved it! Having already read the next two books in the series this is a great prequel. I loved how they knew they were mates even before they saw one another. I loved the way the author gave you a glimpse to see what the next books were/are about. I also loved how this female is a bit like his lost sister. Great series.
