Seventeen-year-old Callie is a spirit witch— a sect of supernatural beings that not only have control over the four elements, but life itself. I started reading this series what felt like ages ago. I do like Callie, Donavan, Kaleb, Nolan and Felix and the side character the aunt turned Grandmother Mildred.
But at the beginning the books were more balanced (or at least it felt like that for me). But the last two books are different and I wasn't even sure if I would read book 5 Kindred Spirit. My main issue is that the last two book were a lot focused on the relationship. But I kind of had the feeling the plot was not working very well. If the book is slow burn, then you can't have a super slow plot and that is what it felt like. So many scenes where Callie and one of the guys or even two of the guys and Callie made out and showed her other stuff she could do. I skipped through them.
And the end? Yes we know this will lead to trauma relived. And I'm not sure, if we are going to like that.
I love this world the author has created so much. Each character is rich in personality and has a depth that makes them feel real. I love the way the relationships with Callie's guys are slowly developing. It feels organic. I simply just can't wait for more!
So well written and a great storyline. Love Callie and the guys so much. Great cliff hanger, can’t wait for the next book. Would highly recommend you read this book and series.
Alright, so I went into this with low expectations after the filler book I found book 4 to be, and I do think this one was a lot better! I could still say this book was a filler book too, since it was just a continuation of problems previously introduced (EXCEPT FOR THAT EPILOGUE) and no new real plot lines introduced, but there was more connection between characters in this book than the last.
I would say this book is still Nolan-centric like the last.
A lot of plots stayed exactly the same. Kaleb deciding whether to be a part of the harem, Nolan deteriorating from the spell, Felix trying to carve a spot in James’ life and feeling left out of the supernatural packs, Connor dealing with Alpha things, and Donovan is still considering how to go after demons and being haunted by Letti. (Callie doesn’t actually do any formal learning anything in this one, either. I think her studies are on pause.)
Here’s a few things of note: ✨ There’s a lot more M/M in this one, from a few characters actually ✨ There are small, significant one-on-one moments with each guy, and the time was more or less evenly divided during this sexy time (nice!) ✨ Connor, Felix, and Callie’s birthdays are celebrated in this ✨ We get several new characters ✨ A new supernatural creature is revealed! And yet, they’re not a new character… 😉
Some of the writing was a struggle for me to get into. Sometimes it was too detailed (For instance there’s a scene at the beginning where several couples are in one room, and each new touch to the elbows, hair, fingers, arm, shoulder, etc. for comfort of each couple is described after each paragraph), or the transitions between scenes that had me blinking trying to figure out how much and when the scenery has changed. Some of the scenes just didn't read smooth to me, and I'm not sure how fleshed out every scene is.
But overall, this is a good YA RH series.
I can officially say I have aged out of Bound Spirit and will be hopping off here, but I wish the best for the author and the continuation of the series!
I love how all of this was tied up in a neat little bow so we can move on to wreaking havoc on her who shall not be named! Well, I guess Callie has dubbed him the Bastard. Fitting. I hope he gets his butt kicked by his mommy dearest, because come on! She’s totally smitten with Callie, well now that she’s gotten to know ow her. And I’m all like BRING IT! Because if her birthday party is any indication of the war she can bring, even unknowingly, it’s gonna be on. Yeah yea, you haven’t read this o e yet and I’m making weird references, but I’m really hoped up on all the good feels from this book. So happy Callie was able to right the wrong inflicted on Nolan and get him justice. I cannot wait to see how Mei and Randall relationship develops. Also I learned so much from that conversation they had on her porch. Now to put on my patient hat and wait for the next book! Happy Reading friends!
I’ve been waiting so patiently for this next installment and it did not dissappoint. We get to see more of the complexities of Callie navigating her relationships with her men, her family and her powers. I love being surprised and I was surprised by a few of the turns in the book. Callie, while only just turning 18, has a confidence, maturity and niavity about her that makes her very likeable. Some of her men struggle with their possessiveness and sharing and I can appreciate that because I don’t think most people would be able to juggle a polyamorous relationship without some struggles. I love that there are a lot of strong female characters in this series and this book introduces a few more. And thank God that Callie went further than just heavy petting as far as sexy times. I can’t wait for the next book!
This book is basically just dealing with fallout from previous events. Kaleb has still not joined the date Callie club, and Felix is trying to fit into his life as James, Connor is alpha, Nolan is dying from a spell, and Donovan is still considering hunting down the demons that killed his family. There’s no real big bad or antagonist as such in this one, it is them trying to live regular lives, work out how they fit together, and fix previous problems. If that sounds boring you’re dead wrong, because I was so hooked to this one. Yes, it’s character driven, but there’s so much going on you are constantly enraptured. The spice level is a little bit higher, with Callie progressing along some of her relationships, and it’s starting to gather a real cohesion to it. There are further bigger world developments, but they aren’t really delved into so much as mentioned and they put a pin in it. I feel like the next book is headed for a lot of conflict with the foundations that were laid here. After the end it has a short story from Mei’s POV (which apparently came from the author’s Patreon) that was fun on its own.
I like them all, except Felix/James. To me he’s just annoying and he should’ve just died. Sorry.
I love Mei, and the grandmas (yes, both). I love the guys’ families too. I feel like it made sense to take a bit longer to introduce some smut especially considering how young they all were in the first book (they are still young, but at least now they’re 18). I really appreciate Mei’s chapter at the end of the book, I felt represented. We NEVER read about Aces, so it was refreshing.
I’m intrigued with the introduction of the fae, and how close to grandma Mildred he is, so it makes me think he won’t join Callie’s harem… or maybe he will? I don’t know, but cool.
I did not understand the first chapter when Connor confronted his mother, and how suddenly she came back and is an Alpha, and nothing about that made sense. Maybe in future books we will get it.
Now let’s wait and see what other traumas Callie’s dad will bring to the crew, considering he was released from jail 4 years earlier than expected (he only stayed locked away for 10 months). And let’s see how her powers will change and evolve, as well as their relationships.

This series has such a stranglehold on me! I fell in love with these characters in book 1 and I love them even more after reading this latest story! Callie is settling in to her warrior witch mode so well! I love to see how strong she has gotten in this book and the fact that the guys are such strong anchors for her. We meet a new grandmother in this book and the jury is still out for me on whether she is friend or foe. The relationships in this book deepened for each of them in different but beautiful ways. We find some needed answers in this one yet a whole can of new questions are opened, as well. Felix’s journey is bittersweet in this one and he made me teary more than once. The book ends with quite a cliffy. I cannot wait to see what happens next!!
In a truly shocking turn of events, a person who doesn't really care for romance plotlines didn't like a reverse harem novel. I'm just not gonna officially rate the book on here because I see no point in negatively affecting the rating of a book clearly not made for me. I was reading this series for the plot and because my mom likes it, but since the last book where the series went from YA to NA, it's been focusing a lot more on the romance and the sex scenes than on anything else, and that's just definitely not for me. But hey, it's got a 4.37 overall rating, so clearly the target market is having a great time.
4.25* Loved diving back into Callie and the guys’ world! This has definitely moved up from YA to New Adult, for those that don’t tend to read the “warnings” and care about that. There’s a deeper dive into most of the relationships with her guys as well as some fun new developments. I enjoy getting to see both the softer and the “warrior witch” sides of Callie. Lots of questions left to be answered from the following books, but one big thing especially, taken care of in this one. Definitely check it out!
These random time skips that keep popping up have made the continuity and pacing suffer greatly for me. The POV switches sometimes offer enough context to fill in the skips, but not enough to make me love the series. Same with the characters and plot - I'm just not able to get that into it. I'm passively planning on completing the series once the other 5 are released, but I won't be setting any alarms or notifications for it.
This is one of my most favorite series I thank h.a. for powering through to give another thrilling book. I've said before this is such an amazing storyline because it's nothing like any paranormal story I've ever read. Thank you ha for this latest book. It was well worth waiting for.
Love this series. I loved how things are continuing to evolve; enjoyed getting to meet some more of the vampires and learning more about Callie's witchy heritage. Kaleb's corrected development really resonates with me, excited to see that continue in future books. Thank you so much for the Mei/Rand epilogue, too; it was a great addition. Highly recommend this series to everyone!
Yet again we are sucked into Callie's world and I was so ready for it. This series is a frequent reread of mine, even though we're still in the thick of her story. Seeing her relationships develop and her witchy education..... I can't wait to see what happens next. The spice was worth the wait!!!
This book was absolutely delicious. I wasn't fond of the last book so I was elated to have this one be as great as it was. It makes me excited to continue the series again.
I love e being back in this world. I have missed it so much. This book is definitely a lot schmexier than the other books. All the tension and fun times Callie is having with her guys. We meet new family members and that ending. I'm looking forward to book six.
Book 5. I would recommend reading the first four first. Great to see some of the other characters getting brought to centre stage, especially the lovable Mei. Can't wait to see what happens next 👍👍👍👍👍
I am always blown away by H A Wills. To say I get sucked in by these novels is an understatement and the way she crafts Callies world is incredible. For yourself a favour and read these books... they won't disappoint!
I love this series! All of the world building and different magical beings. Sometimes in these types of books it can be hard to keep up but this series does it so well. I like seeing Callie come into her own more. The banter when they are all together is so good and everyone’s voice is very clear.
Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books.
