I’m not quite sure my brain can comprehend what I just read… I have all of the emotions. That was the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, and it was BURTAL 😅😩

This book was just as good as the first one!!! Ember continues to become more and more of a badass, and I am HERE for all of it.

This book is the second book in the Querdian series, and let me tell you....if ever there was a book realm that I could live in, it would be this one. The way Burkhart paints the story and the background just completely immerses you, and I love it. If you love strong female characters, hot af vampires, a smidge of smut, and mystery, you should already be hitting "one-click buy".

A Blaze in the Shadows is the second book in the Realm of Queridan series and picks up right at the cliffhanger that book one left off on.

I adore the magic system in this series and loved how much more of the magic system readers get to experience in book two. Ember, after coming into her powers, spends a great deal of this story exploring and honing her new abilities. I love how unique and diverse her magical abilities are and the way she learns to use them in tandem.

Ember is fierce, sassy, and outspoken. I loved how her character grew in this story as she was forced into more responsibilities and many difficult challenges. I was excited to see more of Ember's relationship with Alexei; I was definitely worried about them after the book one cliffhanger.  He is a little less grumpy and a little more protective and possessive this time.

I loved exploring all the new places in Queridian that Ember travels to while learning about and training her newfound abilities. The world-building was immersive and filled with action-packed adventure that was so much fun to read. The story is filled with suspenseful twists and turns, a mysterious prophecy, lots of spice, and a cliffhanger ending that genuinely took me by surprise.

Thank you, L.J. for the ARC copy of A Blaze in the Shadows. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

From the first page, I was completely hooked—I couldn’t put it down if I tried. Ember’s journey is a thrilling rollercoaster of power, heartbreak, and self-discovery, set against a backdrop of a realm brimming with magic and danger. This book delivers everything you want in a fantasy: unrelenting action, simmering romance, and twists that keep you flipping pages well into the night.

The adventure is nothing short of epic. Ember’s search to master her powers introduces readers to breathtaking new corners of the realm, filled with danger, intrigue, and unforgettable characters. Ember’s struggle to wield her powers, protect her heart, and save her world is both inspiring and relatable. The author masterfully weaves together adventure, romance, and personal growth, keeping the pace relentless and addictive.

Truly a thrilling second instalment. Needless to say no shortage of excitement and adventure for Ember as she goes on her journey to hone and discover her multiple powers and heritages. Each faction that courses through her veins with its own uniqueness adding to the layered personality of Ember and each power trained giving her insight into the people she may someday lead. If you have a weak heart like me be forewarned of the impending cliffhanger similar to the first book. Cannot wait for the third instalment! While I wait am definitely going to checkout the authors other series and soon to be released prequel, love her writing and story telling.

Okay, I'm obsessed.

First and most notably, Alexei makes me blush and kick my feet pretty much constantly. I LOVE that man!

Next, I enjoyed getting so much more of Queridian in this book. It was like taking a vacation in my mind and I loved all of it.

Ember is such a badass and it's so fun seeing how she handles situations. She is a natural and definitely fit for her role.

Be prepared for the cliffhanger, but it's fineeee! If you're like me, you'll be ready to roll on book 3's release day!

I think I may be 4.5 but rounding up to 5 because I truly did enjoy myself in every part of this book.

Why?! No no that was brutal and my heart can’t take it…
I don’t believe it, I refuse to believe that betrayal. No just no.
Did I just devour a 366 page book in less than a day, yes yes I did
Am I now also feeling completely hollow cos of that cliffhanger?! Yes yes I am.

And now I have to wait?! :’(

Honest to gods this series is as addicting as the ACOTAR if you love them you’ll more than love this series.

Ember, she just doesn’t get a break bless her. Gods I love her

Oh my Gods….. I can’t with the cliffhanger. I need book 3 and to know what happens next ASAP. I had a feeling that there would be a betrayal. Burkhart has a way of bringing the characters to life and the world building is fantastic. Ember is such a strong FMC and so relatable. I don’t know how I’ll ever get over the latest betrayal. Would definitely recommend reading if youyou enjoy fantasy, fae, vampires, mermaids and more. Perfect amount of smut to keep things interesting!

This series has me hooked! Embers story continues and it gets even better! I can’t wait for the Prequel/Novella, “A Demon In The Dawn”, which comes out July 1, 2024! The 3rd book is going to be just as amazing!

This one was just as good as the first one! I loved how much we got to see of the kingdom and were able to learn about the other beings and grand masters and mistresses. And wow that cliffhanger. I can't wait to dive into the next one.

I really like it and I would recommend this series so far. It's fun to support a local author. This one was more spicy, which I enjoyed.
