Ivy Morgan and her friend Kat were on a road trip to “find themselves”. However, today Kat O’Brien was sleeping in with a bad hangover from too many tequila shots from her cute bartender the night before. But wanting Ivy to have fun, she insisted she go off on the boat trip without her. The catamaran was waiting on the opposite side of the cove and just about to leave when a crew member spotted her running toward the dock. She boarded and ran through the rear glass door – right into a rock-hard chest. She looked up into the face of Liam Cole whom she had been avoiding for more than 4 months when she walked out on him. She was supposed to stay… she was his mate. And he was the reason she needed to flee Woodland Falls. She feared the Hunters that were a constant threat. The boat suddenly moved and his arms went around to catch her and his scent almost made her melt. And he only had today to win her back before he had to leave the boat.
His buddy, Bay, who allowed him aboard ship to pretend to be an employee, now told Cole he had 5 tourists to teach how to snorkel. Cole hated the water – he was a wolf, not a fish. As the day wore on, Liam noticed the dark, angry clouds and scented the large storm moving in. They loaded the passengers to return early. Maybe Ivy sneaked back on board, but he didn’t think so. And Bay didn’t know for sure. So he told Bay to go ahead and he would keep Ivy safe until the next day when Bay could return for them. Their bond took him toward the sea caves. Was she okay? Then he saw her in the cave. The tide had come in fast and her kayak floated away. But now they had to face the storm. Could he keep his promise and protect her? Would the beach hut keep them dry? Was she ready to accept him as her mate? And what would he do when his brother Ash called to tell him the Hunters attacked Woodland Falls and they needed him back home right away? He didn’t want her put in that dangerous situation. It was best to leave her with Bay and return home alone. Or would she insist that this choice was hers to make, not his?
His kisses reassured my fears, stoked my desire, tore open my heart for him to climb inside and never leave.
4 stars
This was such a sweet second-chance romance, and I loved every moment between Ivy and Liam. Ivy was hesitant to accept Liam as her mate because of the danger that looms from the hunters, but even a human feels the irresistible pull of the mate bond. I loved Liam's determination to finally have his mate by his side, but I'm glad Ivy put her foot down in the end. It was so great being in this world again, and this novella just made me want to reread the rest of the series again🖤
I feel like there’s not even enough for me to give a rating here. The book is only a few pages long 😅
It starts off in the middle of a story, which reminds me that I want to go back and double check that this is the first in the series.
Otherwise, it’s super confusing for being a first.
We have no back story but are thrust into conflict immediately, and the conflict is KIND OF resolved, but it’s a cliffhanger for MORE & bigger conflict.
A very well written, fast paced, second chance fantasy/paranormal romance.
This is a prequel to the Small Town Packs Series and I guarantee you, it will make you want the whole series!
This is the first novel i've read where the wolf is not entirely the man and vice versa and I am so excited to explore how shifting works in this universe.
This can be read as a standalone (but you won't want to!)
As prequel this is shorter than I prefer, only 7 chapters and I would have liked more detail on the events which led to Ivy leaving Liam behind.
It can be read as a standalone and is still an enjoyable read. The ending sets the story for the next of the series. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes next.

Who wouldn’t want to be stranded on an island with a gorgeous shifter, this is a snippet into Ivy and Liam's steamy relationship before they return to Woodland Falls in Salvation. Following your heart is the only choice you have. This is a novella from Cassie Laelyn’s ‘Small town pack’ series.

This is a lunch read. This is Ivy and Liam's story. She is his mate. She not so sure. She takes off and he finally goes after her. Will she accept him this time? Can she believe him this time even though she is human?.

Boy loves girl. Boy chases girl. Boy catches girl. But, they find out that togetherness is not the HEA they thought it would be. Fate is always ready to throw a spanner into the works, and that's what happened to Liam and Ivy when they finally got together. Nice little prologue to the Wolves of Woodland Falls series. Cassie Laelyn never disappoints.
This is a well written paranormal romance with strong characters in Ivy and Liam. The author weaves a fast paced , steamy story with perfectly painted scenes and delivers a terrific read.

Delightful lunch time morsel. This book is on the smaller side, which makes it a quick easy lunch time read with just the right amount of spice. You can read it as a standalone no problem. Warning though it will entice you to hunt out the rest. Definitely a fun romp!
This was a great prequel. The character work and story line were well written and kept me entertained from start to finish. I look forward to my next adventure with Cassie Laelyn.

Purchased in the stuff your kindle day not knowing it was a novella in the series.
Wolf shifter and human mate. They get stranded on a tropical island together during a storm. It had all the pieces I like but not enough tension or heart.
Ohhhh Liam. He’s one swoon worthy shifter. 😍😍 A gorgeous prequel letting us get a glimpse of how Liam used his charm, cheek and bare chest to finally capture Ivy’s heart. His nickname for Ivy is just the sweetest and I’m totally jealous. ❤️❤️ A perfect read to a perfect series.
