Opposites attract in this risqué office romance!

On the surface, handsome Sales Manager Tsubaki is all smiles and professional grace — but underneath, he's a workaholic who bears the brunt of a tyrannical boss and throws himself into work to avoid heartache. When his first encounter with the newest transfer to his division, Makino, results in a clash of personalities, Tsubaki assumes that they might be too different to get along... But the forthright and fearless Makino turns out to be just Tsubaki's type, and attraction sparks between them when they end up as next-door neighbors at the company dormitory!

Tsubaki is determined to listen to his head over his heart and keep clear lines drawn between them, but there's no helping it; Makino's affections win him over despite his best efforts. Even though it might be a bad idea to mix business with pleasure, an impulsive hook-up turns into something more!

This was a sweet and sexy romance manga with just a touch of angst about coworkers who develop a friends with benefits relationship. One of them wants more from the start, but the other is afraid of starting a relationship because of experiences in his past. There's a lot of sexy times of course, but there's also plenty of caretaking, cuddles, and laughter, along with some very likeable and supportive side characters.

What a great way to start the new year. Kicking off 2024 in a very steamy and sweet way with this story. It's a fairly light and breezy read, but still loads of fun.

Cute, spicy (uncensored) office romance with an uke reluctant to admit his feelings until an overnight business trip makes them impossible to deny.

Could this have had more relationship development? Yes. Did I read it for said development? No. Now’s where’s my water bottle?

I don't think this kind of romance is for me. This is the second one I've read and there's just no build up in relationship. Everything feels so shallow.

I thought this manga was fine. The majority of their relationship revolved around sex, but at least there were a few scenes where we actually got to see the main characters talk and care for each other as people. I probably would have rated it higher, but Makino was pretty terrible for a lot of the manga. He falls into the unfortunate yaoi trope of sexually abusing his partner because of his ego.

This was so cute, but it felt very rushed as far as the romance went. I know it’s a one shot and timeskip are key, but I wanted to see more from this little office romance. It kinda gave me Cherry Magic vibes. Still I’m glad to have read this.

the art was super pretty and lewd but that's pretty much about it. i think the pacing was too fast and would've been better if more time had been spent fleshing the main couple out and building tension that like . having them going at each other like rabbits.

This wasn’t a unique or complex story. It’s a common one where opposites attract instantly and due to a lack of communication there is a misunderstanding. It’s overall a predictable and good story but I enjoyed it. I think sometimes the simplest and most repetitive stories are great, if done well and this was one of those for me.

The story follows sales manager Tsubaki who is a workaholic, but nice and professional as he often takes the burnt from his rude boss. On the other hand, Makino is a newly hired recruit who is straightforward and blunt which makes his personality clash with Tsubaki. However, all changes as they become next-door neighbors and sparks fly leading to a risky relationship that Tsubaki is all too ready to avoid.

I could relate with Tsubaki’s personality and I wasn’t fully prepared for that. Tsubaki’s personality of always helping and covering for his team members was similar to seeing a reflection in the mirror. It made me reflect on a few things and while it wasn’t pleasant at first and nothing will change, I liked how there was someone who acknowledged Tsubaki’s situation and offered to help.

Makino may come off as a rude character at first, but that instantly changes as the story goes on. I enjoyed how he saw through Tsubaki’s defenses and leaned forward to help. Makino is also a character who doesn’t misunderstand and he communicates whatever is on his mind. Although it can be a bit inconvenient, it worked well for the purpose of this story. Makino’s personality balances Tsubaki’s personality well.

Although this is an office romance, the office part is a bit lacking. Though I think I liked their interactions off-work more. Most stories I’ve read related to office workers depict sexual tension during work hours with some type of work-related drama. Sure, this has a few depictions of that, but it’s primarily during the off hours. For me, this was a new perspective and one I surprisingly enjoyed.

The dynamics between Tsubaki and Makino was well done but I also liked the two side characters. I enjoyed how the side characters were supportive and non-judgmental of both Tsubaki and Makino. I would be interested in reading their stories if there ever is one, though they don’t seem to be a couple. That said, this is a one-shot manga volume so there weren’t many complex characters or themes.

The artwork was very clean and crisp. There aren’t many backgrounds and some are simple layouts enough to support the scene. Personally, I didn’t mind this because I was interested in the story and I think it worked well given the characters were drawn descriptively. That said, there are explicit sexual scenes in this manga and they do appear often. It’s not surprising though given the risqué cover.

Overall, I enjoyed this manga. It was a nice, simple read and one I have honestly read thrice already.

"I think... I've fallen for you."
GIRL WHAT??? IT'S BEEN LESS THAN 24 HOURS SINCE YOU MET!!!

"I really do like you. Will you go out with me?"
IT'S BEEN TWO DAYS. YOU HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR TWO DAYS.

"We've already come this far, so what are we to each other?"
COWORKERS.

"I already know I'm head-over-heels for this guy..."
WHY??? YOU LITERALLY JUST MET!!!

I... I'm.... sigh....

Okay, this manga moves at a BREAKNECK pace. That first confession comes on page 39, following the first sexual encounter, which happened the evening after they met at work for the first time ever and didn't really get along. I am. Almost baffled by the order of events and pacing here. Like, it's just one of those things that leaves me wondering if this really is what life is like for allosexual people... like it's kind of impressive, but as an asexual, it's also wildly unbelievable.

Setting aside my own personal doubts over how fast the relationship develops, from a narrative stand point I don't even think the relationship development is that great. And I as a reader am just plowing through this, feeling like I'm getting whiplash from how quickly everything is progressing and how out of order things feel. I don't even know why either character likes the other one, especially why Makino likes Tsubaki -- Tsubaki liking Makino I can get , but aside from being physically attracted, there is no reason Makino should be interested in Tsubaki by this point... or at all, given I wrote that line while I was only half way through the volume and by the end of it, I STILL don't know why Makino likes Tsubaki, outside of finding him 'cute' and 'adorable.'

Also, Tsubaki introduces, what I see as, a very real reason for not wanting to date: he keeps getting dumped by his partners as soon as he really starts to love them (again, as an asexual... why are you dating someone you don't love to begin with??) and is scared of the same thing happening here. When this came up I expected one of three things to happen. Option 1: Tsubaki sees that Makino is different from the people he's dated before and independently decides he's worthy of his trust. Option 2: Tsubaki confides in Makino about his past with relationships and Makino reassures him that they won't end up like that. Option 3: Tsubaki realizes that he likes Makino so much that he doesn't care if he gets hurt again, because even if he does, loving Makino would have been worth it. All three of these possibilities felt like appropriate narrative developments. But no, I got It made no sense. Luckily though, the manga saved itself by having a which I will admit is a trope I like, and I do think the ending played out fairly well, all things considered.

Unfortunately, the ending being okay isn't really enough to save how empty the rest of the manga is. It very much reads like porn without plot, or rather like the plot was secondary to the porn. Which is fine! Some people really like that! But for me, this manga just doesn't have enough build up in the characters (main characters and side characters), relationship, world, or plot for it to be really enjoyable.

Two stars tho b/c the art is STUNNING. Like, credit where credit is due, Omayu's art style is just absolutely gorgeous. If beautiful art of men having sex is your thing, I'd say get it just for that b/c the art really is stunning.

I can't quite boost this one to 4 stars, because there isn't a whole lot of plot, but I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. A lot of that's probably due to the art and the character design; they're both very handsome, and they kind of reminded me of Richard and Seigi from Jeweler Richard, which added some fun AU ideas to the mix.

But their dynamic was nice, too. While I would ordinarily be pretty skeptical of how their physical relationship went from 0 to 60 pretty much immediately, it's actually...not that far-fetched in a real world situation. (Although thinking a company dorm for single men is in any way exciting and sexy, rather than corporately depressing, is definitely some extreme fujo goggles.)

Are they really in love at this point? Nah, I don't think so. But they do both like each other a lot, and once they actually start spending more time on actual dates and having real conversations with each other, that will definitely grow. Most of the barriers to that emotional progression were put in place by Tsubaki's insistence that they keep things at a friends with benefits level, so he could focus on work and avoid having his heart broken by yet another failed relationship. So now that he's finally lifted that blockade, it's not going to take much for them to become a truly lovey-dovey couple.

And I imagine that while their dorm-friends are currently happy to have them around, it won't be long before they move out and find a place together. After all, that's the only reason Tsubaki was living there to being with...because he'd been broken up with by his last boyfriend and had to move out.

His heartbreak during their Misunderstanding Scene near the end was actually really effective. I liked his emotional complexity and thought all his reasoning made a lot of sense. And it's good for him to have someone as straightforward and honest as Makino to support him.

The only thing that was kind of disappointing was how little this was actually about their workplace dynamics. Tsubaki is set up as a hardworking manager who's getting bullied by an abusive section chief, and in Makino's first day on the job, he immediately speaks up about the injustice that everyone can very clearly see. But nothing comes of that. (Plus, why make Tsubaki the sales manager who shows Makino around, and then have Makino wind up on a different team? Was the direct report relationship too spicy to keep up past the first chapter?)

All of that probably would've been too much for a single volume, but I do think more of that side of things could've been included to flesh out their bond in some of the less physical ways. Although it's not always that easy to dislodge or deal with an abusive manager. So at least they've got each other for support, I suppose.

Anyway, very pretty art, and while there's not a huge amount of substance, it's a fun read with some surprisingly good emotional depth at points.

I also really liked the IT friend. In a longer series, he probably would've wound up with his own spinoff.

Tsubaki is head of the sales department in a fairly large company with a higher boss that seems to enjoy making life hard for his workers. The story starts out with him pushing one of Tsubaki's men to the point of a breakdown altough Tsubaki intervenes to try and blunt the turmoil by taking responsibility since it is his subordinate that has apparently messed up. He does it without thinking because he sees it as his responsibility.

The next is the arrival of a new employee from another factury owned by the same corporation and Makino and Tsubaki almost immediately develop an attachment. Makina is pretty ready however because of former situations Tsubaki is afraid to trust and tries to treat it as a friends with benefits type relationship but then that arrangement makes Tsubaki even more nervous about the relationship because he is finding the idea of the relationship ending to be too frightening.

There is a lot of sex, but also there is obvious real concern and nurturing from both sides. Everybody at the company seems more relaxed by the end.

I recommend this as a nice sexual relationship but with genuine affection and a great relationship all around.

This is the Omegaverse office romance I didn’t know I needed in my life.

Why is it that the manga with the spiciest covers always end up having the sweetest romance? In hindsight, the title is so cute. We had a sweet, healthy couple in this one, and I’m pleasantly surprised.

Despite the central conflict being between the sheets, the character development was done really well. It’s not complicated. I knew the characters well enough, and if anything, I’d love to see a continuation of these two after the events of this volume. I also want to see more of Maruyama 😂🩷

So, if you’re looking for something that balances intimacy and a sweet romance with a show, don’t-tell dynamic, I think this would be a good choice!

Who is this manga for
This oneshot is for readers looking for a short and sweet story that’s as wholesome as it is spicy!

I went into this manga with low expectations after seeing mixed reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The art is stunning—one of the reasons I picked it up in the first place—and the office romance setting gave me Cherry Magic vibes, which I loved.

While the relationship kicks off pretty quickly (Makino falls a little too fast), the emotional depth grows over time. Tsubaki’s fearful avoidant energy was portrayed well, especially as he wrestles with guilt over their friends-with-benefits setup and what it might mean for Makino’s feelings. Their dynamic felt more layered than the “just smut” reputation it’s gotten—there’s real complexity and vulnerability here.

What stood out most to me was how relevant it felt. With situationships and FWB relationships being so common in today’s dating world, this story thoughtfully explores the messiness, hesitations, and emotional risks that come with them. And despite the rocky start, it builds into a genuinely sweet romance.

If you’re into BL with strong art, flawed but lovable characters, and a story that mirrors the emotional landscape of modern dating, give this one a chance. It might surprise you too.

I would say that this is more of a 2.5 star read that I have rounded up to 3. It's pretty much lust to love and there is very little characterization. They meet at the office and Tsubaki has an automatic dislike for Makito. The duo finds themselves in the same communal shower/bath, and become overwhelmed by their lust. The two engage in a friends with benefits relationship due to Tsubaki's reluctance to be in a relationship after being burned so many times. Meanwhile, the Makito tries to push the idea of dating seriously without a clue as to why Tsubaki doesn't want to be in a relationship. This lack of communication leads to the inevitable third act break up before they realize where the other was coming from and come together as an official couple.

The art was beautiful, and I liked the characters, at the beginning I was really interested to see the office dynamics, but that was really it. This is more a roommate thing than work, and not even that. The plot was pushed completely to the back for the porn, which I am not a big fan of. I get that this was about someone who does not want to date doing friends with benefits at first, but I could have really done without all those sex scenes to get that, I would have preferred for them to have more of an emotional build-up instead of just suddenly deciding that now was the time to confess. This story needed more plot, a lot more. The cutest scene was their home date, which you can guess that ended up with.

In some ways, this reminds me of Cherry Magic with the co-worker relationship, but it is much faster paced and a singular story rather than an ongoing series, and also lacks the mind reading aspects from the earlier volumes. Tsubaki and Makino are nearly instantly drawn to each other, though between working together and past experiences in relationships, Tsubaki is convinced it won't work out and isn't worth the heartbreak. That backfires rather spectacularly when he finally realizes it's too late and he's already emotionally involved. Fortunately their roommates and co-workers are very understanding and supportive, or things could have gone a very different route.

This is a very typical office romance BL, except that most of the story happens in the company dorm rather than the office. The prince type doesn't want to fall in love because he's always getting dumped, and the love interest is the serious, devoted type who puts in the work to win him over. Nothing earth-shattering, but well done for what it was.

Overall, not reinventing the wheel, just sticking to solid characterisation and a straightforward plot. If you like hot guys in suits, and don't want to think too hard, then you'll like this.

All I wanted 😍

This story is so cute! Love it a lot! The characters are so likable, even the side characters! The main love interest is the cutest and I love him! The male lead is stern but adorable! And they make a lovable dynamic! Honestly cried, definitely tugged at my heart strings but I will say this is definitely HIGHLY recommended *for 18 years or older since it is explicit!*
