Casting Call moves at warp speed!
Hilarious! Mind-blowing. Impossible to predict.
Locke’s latest has more twists and turns than a Rubik’s Cube!
I literally flew through this book. Can’t remember ever turning pages this fast!

Fun to read but come on John!! Your endings are way too much lunacy. Feels like that the last 15 pages or so are just made up on the spot. Unfortunately it cost you a star.
This is another great book by one of my favorite authors, John Locke. It is a fast read, one that makes you turn a page (or swipe that kindle screen) so fast just to keep up with the story. Yes, this story twists and turns so fast you almost need to take notes. It goes from one crazy part to the next crazy part in a flash and you just won't believe what is happening. Poor Bobby Tang is having a hard time- his wife divorced him, he lost his job, his money is running, but he has no idea what is in store for him now that he's run into Kaylee and Ivy. It only gets crazier.
That is about the only thing I can safely tell you about the book without giving anything away. If you are a Locke fan, you will love the crossover of the characters from the other books. Otherwise, this is a completely new, standalone book, not part of a series at all. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is the fact that there may have been too many twists and it was a little hard for me to keep straight- that might have been my problem though, and the fact that there was a little too much weirdness going on that I really didn't seem to fit into the storyline. But, hey, as ever, it's a Locke book with snappy dialogue that made time fly and gave me an afternoon of wonderful entertainment. Thanks again, John!
If you are a fan of John Locke's books you will love Casting Call - - How the author comes up with these characters is beyond understanding - - everything always works out well though because the author uses characters from his other books; introducing them at key points in the story for maximum effect. His writing style is always fun to read - no flowery writing from Mr. Locke! The reading is fast paced with his use of short, crisp, direct sentences - that style makes for good story-telling and fast page-turning. The story is unbelievable and totally insane - but it's also fun (I know a strange combination). This is a story you will not find with any other author - it's totally John Locke.
You can always tell when your reading a John Locke book and this is no exception. This book is kind of like fighting a heavy weight where you just feel your brain slamming from one side of your brain to other. Talk about twists and turns.
The plot is so convoluted that when the true comes out your left shaking your head because you never saw it coming.
I have bought and read every one of Mr. Locke's books and loved them all. Some more than others like this one. If this is to be your first one of his books I can promise you it won't be your last.
Casting Call is a breath of fresh air after the mildly disappointing, too-sex-soaked Dani Ripper novel, Teacher, Teacher. While Locke's novels always have some prurient content, this release is more focused on lies, deceptions, twists and misleads... the core of what I've always felt makes Locke's novels fun, when he's at the top of his game.
Although there's no formal series this novel's a part of, it does contain an important cameo by Callie Carpenter and could potentially form the basis of a spin-off series for her. The book kept me guessing, read fast, and good fun. Well done.
What a plot! It takes a sick mind to come up with this type of plot, but like many of his books John Locke manages to make it work. If you don't read this book in one sitting, you missed the boat. The action is fast paced with many twists and turns.
Loved it. Locke is one of my favorite authors. Love the way he brings characters together in the next book. Recommend to anyone looking for a fast paced roller coaster read.
I liked the book, but it took awhile to connect the characters once the backfield with Callie came into the story. Good read and enjoyed this possible new series
I liked the book until the end. The ending just left you hanging with a half resolution for some people and a "what just happened" question in your mind.
I usually like Locke's books, finding them fast-moving, action-packed and, at times, funny. I'm sorry to say that "Casting Call" was simply mean-spirited and confusing.
Every book by John Locke, every one of them, even the ones that look like stand-alone, are connected in some way. This one makes no difference. The mysterious twists and turns this one has are curvier than a pretzel. I'm not going to spoil anything here, but that ending may force you into jumping the next one at once.
