To keep her out of trouble, he'll have to hold on tight.

Remember Kim, the journalist from earlier books who broke up with Captain Justice? Then got herself superpower'ed by Demon Wroth? Well she's kicking out on her own and seeking out answers.
I didn't like Kim in the previous books (not that she appeared VERY often), but this book offered a chance to see what made her tick. And you know I felt really bad for her. Kidnapped 25 times certainly earns a girl her complex right? And Frost...oh my :fans face:
I almost stopped the serie after book two. Eisenmann wasn't a particularly interesting character in Mirage's story and Kim did kinda sound like a bitch. But Frost Nightwing had potential, and I liked the idea of the eternal damsel in distress becoming a heroin in her own right. Well, the first thing to be said is that this book made Justice sound like a total dick. Which is one of the good thing in the series, actually : you see the characters under a certain angle in their own book, but other books make you look at them under in a whole new light, and not a particularly flattering one. This one made me appreciate Kim a lot better, even if Darla is still my favorite. And, for an iceman, Frost is totally hot. Still, I was disappointed by the ending, too rushed for my taste, but I enjoyed the book anyway. A nice conclusion to a pretty cool serie.
I like this series. The books have sass and steam and the characters always have issues to work through. Those issues tend to revolve around super villains and unpredictable powers and attraction that hits at the most inopportune moments. WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE?
So. Frost and Kim. As a regular person, Kim is the perpetual damsel in distress thanks to her endless kidnappings. Now that's she's all suped up, she's not willing to play the victim. As a reporter, she's dogged in following leads and getting answers, so it doesn't take much of a stretch for her to ferret out details of her kidnappings to try to figure out why she was made a target so many times.
Frost is the bogeyman amongst supers. An enforcer who hunts down good guys who cross the line, he's isolated himself from most of the superhero community. With good reason, as it turns out. Not going to lie, he steams up the sheets with Kim something fierce when he finally loses his cool and drops his walls.
Not going to rate since I DNF the book. I got through the second chapter and had to stop Kim was just so incredibly whiny, worse than any over sugared, tired child I have ever had the misfortune to know. No reason to waste time reading about someone I would run from IRL.
