The purpose of this addition to this Chronology is to demonstrate that despite millions of words of testimony to the Warren Commission, the House Select Committee on Assassinations, and the Assassination Record Review Board, in addition to thousands of interviews conducted by “citizen—researchers,” each of which eventually became some manner of a monograph on the subject of President Kennedy’s assassination, there is still a hierarchy of facts…Suggested facts….Alleged facts….Facts that need to be discarded….What cannot be known….Theories, ideas, and plots developed from non- documentable facts.Ultimately, it will be demonstrated that there is very little that is truly known.
After a number of previous appendices in this series that have focused on depositions and testimonies from H.S.C.A. hearings, Appendix X 'Facts' returns to the writings of Walt Brown. A collection of short biographies of JFK, Jackie K, Lee Harvey Oswald, Marina Oswald and Jack Ruby, all written and annotated in Brown's usual well informed, factual and incisive style. 'Facts' is then completed with a savage debunking of several 'theories' that have been put into the marketplace proposing to explain the mysteries of Dealey Plaza, from Bonar Menninger's absurd 'Mortal Error', William Greer's 'trick shot' repartee, Secret Service involvement and Oswald's Russian language skills, or, perhaps, the cow DID jump over the moon. Much in this edition of the Master Chronology to confirm Joe Pesci's line in Oliver Stone's 'JFK' that we still have a mystery, wrapped in a riddle, inside an enigma. Rather more than one enigma.
