David Martin's a Sociologist which this is what makes this book interesting. The approach to Pentecostalism scholarship is usually through either a historical or ethical approach. The different sociological approach ties both history and ethics. This book is highly recommended to those who have interest in world Christianity or Pentecostalism.
Martin's covers the Americas, Africa, and Asia; He argues that Pentecostalism is synchronized with the natives traditions. He also dismisses the usual western ideology of missions. I think this is a must read
