Book 1 - Trust Me Book 2 - Love Me Book 3 - Promise Me Other Books by Kristin Mayer The Effect Series (All Available) Book 1 - Ripple Effect Book 2 - Domino Effect
I adored the first book in this series, so when the author asked me if I would like to beta read the second book, then I almost died! I was 100% honest in my review for Trust Me and said that I had a few minor problems with it, but Love Me was just a rollercoaster! I loved that the author actually took on board what I said and sorted the problem in this book as well! I said that words weren't abbreviated and that is my pet hate with a book! I find it distracting, but in this book most of it was abbreviated, which made me really happy! The plot of this book continued on from where Trust Me left off from! It was sexy, it was mysterious, it had a perfect ending! I loved the plot as it continued on Allison and Damien's relationship and it showed how far they had come as a couple and as individuals! The mystery aspect also comes to a close in this book and it was kind of who I was expecting it to be! I had my suspicions about this person, but I'm definitely not going to tell you much more than that, so that I don't spoil it! I loved the end scene though as it was so climatic and it was the scene that I had been waiting for! The characters were again amazing! I connected with them even more in this book! Allison was again the main female character and I have to say that I loved her even more in this book! She reacted the exact same way as I would have if I was placed in the same situation as her! I thought she handled it all brilliantly though! I loved how far she had come from the loss of her parents as well and I think that Damien was the main factor in that! Allison went through quite a lot at the end of this book, but she was able to bounce back from it a stronger person! Damien was again the main male character and I was actually going to say that I would have liked some of this book to have been written from Damien's point of view because he was such an intriguing character and a lot of the plot is focused on his past, so it would have been interesting to have been able to go inside his head, but then the author actually put extra scenes at the end from his point of view, which was seriously amazing! Again, he was still fiercely protective of Allison and was immensely hot in this book! I kinda preferred him in this book if I'm honest! I loved the little things he did for Allison and how he would give her the world if he could! The secondary characters also added so much to the story and I loved all of them! I will without a doubt be reading the next book in this series! I know that it's not going to be about Allison and Damien and instead it's going to be about another important character in this book, Sam, but I have been told from the author that Allison and Damien are going to be in the book a lot, which makes me really happy! Especially after what's revealed at the end of this book! I'm excited to find out what's going to happen in Sam's book! I read this book when it didn't have a cover, but the author gave me a general idea of what the cover was going to look like! I can say that the cover is... Big thank you to Kristin for asking me to beta-read Love Me and to Book Plug Promotions for having me on the Blog Tour!
Continuation of Damien and Alli’s story, and it’s packed with lots of crazy. There’s a stage 5 clinger (crazy Cassandra) that won’t go away, betrayals, past pics/video of D from his naughty days, his parents being assholes to Alli, and a killer on the loose. We get to see Damien in all his caveman glory as the crazy stalker murderer starts threatening HIS woman.
I feel like the author missed an opportunity by not giving Damian’s POV… women want to hear how much our men lurve us!! (there’re only 3 short bonus scenes at the end of each book from H’s POV) I’m also bummed that we didn’t get the epilogue, because the author wants us to read Sam’s book. Grrr
Bottom Line- Good ending to D & A’s story (which really isn’t the end if you want to find out about Overall, it was cheesy, but an easy, entertaining read. Also free with KU, and audio is part of audible escapes.
I really enjoyed Trust Me and this book as a great story featuring a jealous, possessive hero. While a few things annoyed me (all the "processing" and Sam), I did like Damien and Alli together. A lot. They talked things through and were open about their feelings with each other which made me believe in their love. I also thought the mystery was well done and liked how everything was resolved in the second book. These two books can be read as a duology with a HEA, although we don't get an epilogue in the future as you're supposed to read book 3 for that. I'm passing on that one as I have absolutely no interest in Sam or her story, and I'm completely satisfied with the ending of Love Me.
Following on from the end of book 1, Trust Me, this book continues the story of Allison and Damien.
If I'm honest, due to the mystery in this sequel, I enjoyed it a lot more than book 1. The love story is still there, and it is a huge part of this book, but the mystery is what really made it for me.
There is a lot of intrigue in this book. A lot of lies have been told and it is only by deciphering the clues given to them that Allison and Damien can succeed in working it all out.
The way that side of the story is written is really good. I love a book which has me thinking, and trying to work out who the culprit is. This one kept me guessing all the way to the reveal.
The character development continues to be good. The relationship between Allison and Damien is lovely to read. Also the friendships they share with those around them are done well too.
My only niggle is that when it is all worked out we don't see a lot of what happens immediately after that. It is almost just one scene which to me seemed just a little too quickly dealt with.
The book ends with a look at book 3, which will be Sam's story, and I honestly can't wait to read it. As a series I have enjoyed reading it so far and look forward to the final part.
You know how second books are generally never as good as the first book? Well.....This one was NOTHING like that...it was every bit as good as the first book!
It held my attention...it was ABSOLUTLEY GREAT!
Alli and Damien held their love together through some wicked drama, and scary s**t!
The hot lovin in this book had sparks flying off the pages!
What I really enjoyed about this book was the commitment between these two, Alli and Damien truly loved one another and were dedicated to working through everthing that was put into their path.
I like to think that I can figure out the "who done its" and the "what's going ons" in books but I generally was surprised by who the super bad guy was in this book. I was picturing somebody else entirely. My only complaint is the person I was thinking it was...there was never any explanation as to what happened to him or WHY he was such a turd...oh i mean jerk! I would have really liked to seen him get a beat down. I hated him with a passion!
Now it is time to decide if I am going to read book 3...it is about Sam...not my wonderful Alli and Damien. I am wondering what Sam's issue/hurt is so I am sure I will read it. But as for this book..LOVE ME wonderful read...give it a try you will not be disappointed.
Read Trust Me before you read this book as this continues straight on from book one.
This is a bloody brilliant book. I loved book one but this one is off the scales. My heart was seriously in my stomach through most of this book. This was one of them books I wanted to read but didn't as I was so afraid something would happen to destroy Allison and Damien's happiness. I love these two characters so I felt that anything that was hurting them in this book was hurting me. Yes the author had such a great way with her words I felt for these two characters.
The love these two had for one another was true raw love. The chemistry between them was fantastic. The sex in this book was so so hot.
I loved Sam in this book and I'm so looking forward to reading more about her when she gets her own book.
Loved that the author gave us extra scenes from Damien's point of view at the end of this book.
Really hope the author is busy writing as I need more soon.
Great read. Suspenseful, but my only issue is..... the epilogue sucked. It wasn't even about the 2 main characters. I think after everything these 2 went through it would of been nice to see how their lives turned out a few years later.
The first book left me in a bit of a rage with not knowing who the killer was. I actually spent some time trying to bribe a fellow book lover who had previously read the series to tell me who it was. After many, many attempts, she would not tell me and I gave up. In the end I am so happy she was stubborn and would not cave. It made the mystery all the better! Kristin Mayer does mystery well! I thought I had it all figured out and then there was the reveal and it knocked the wind out if me! The mystery wasn't everything for this book, the love between the happy couple is still in the forefront. Everyone needs to go read this story ASAP!!!
I listened to the audio version and Shirl did another outstanding job with the narration!
I read mixed reviews about this series but decided to try for myself via audible. This is the second book. I liked the first well enough. The characters were likeable, and I enjoyed the story. You had to go on to book 2 to find out who the perpetrator was. Again, I was enjoying the plot. However, half the book was sex scenes, and frankly, it was unnecessary and boring. As a young newlywed couple, it would be expected for them to be at it frequently, but as a reader/listener, it was repetitive. Had I been reading it, I'd have been able to skim and considerably cut down the reading time, but that wasn't possible on audible. There is a third book which is about the best friend but I think I'll be giving that one a miss.
I thought it was okay. It kept me busy when I had nothing else to read. It reminded me way too much weaker version of Fifty Shades of Grey. there wasn't enough action for me. I prefer suspense thrillers this did not deliver. I tried her other books trust me and promise me and it was the same thing, literally. dreamy boy trying to convince insecure girl that no one else in life will ever make sex exciting except them. there's no real substance to any of her characters and in all three books it was weak drama trying to come in between the perfect couple.
Wow loved this series, I enjoyed the romance, suspense, twists and turns. It was great to see all the pieces come together. Damian and Alli finally get their HEA, but will Sam? That's for us to find out in book 3. Highly recommend, great story, plot, writing, characters, lots of sex, highly romantic.
3.5 Stars I liked this one, other than the fact they act like horny teenagers LOL I found myself skimming. There could have been more suspense but we finally find out who was behind it all. The epilogue was different, where it gets us ready for the next book it didn't tell us what happens with the two main characters. I can only assume the next book is Sam's.
Love Me picks up right where Trust Me ends. I like seeing Damien protect Allison even more than in the first book. With more mystery’s well, you never know who you can trust!
Like the last book, it is repetitive and a little long but this was Kristin’s first series. It kept me on the edge of my seat and had me wanting more.
This is such a good "ending" to Damien and Alli's story. Its not really an end because there is a third book but its from Sam's perspective. I love that they are going to have a child together and I can't wait to see in the next book!
This was book 2 to the duet from Trust Me It was a very sweet read even with all the suspense I would say the only thing that was missing from these books from the start of their relationship was the "chase". Damien set his sights on Alli and that was it.
I was really looking forward to reading this book but then it started just live the first book with all the detailed sex scenes and really not focusing on the plot. I didn't read all this book because I was put off.
This is actually a re-read for me. It was that good! I loved the mix of romance, steam and mystery that Kristin gave us. The characters were great, the pace was perfect. A must read!
What another great book, love the twists and turns. Did I work out who the killer was. Yes and no had my suspicion early on put then changed my mind during the story. Always stick with your instincts. Fab read. Now onto Sam's story.
Squeeeee!!!!! This book has it all! It's full love, sexy times, angst, drama...EVERYTHING! Loved the ending and everything in between!! Damien and Allison are super HOT and perfect!
After a rather tumultuous start to their relationship, Alli and Damien no longer have any doubts about each other. Officially a couple now, they hope that the new life they are starting together will be a a bit smoother sailing. But no sooner have they returned from their romantic time away, or harsh reality sets in once again.
Threatening emails in Alli's inbox are the first in a series of disturbing messages and events that have Damien's protective instincts go in overdrive. They are covered by security everywhere they go. Having already lost his sister, Damien is not about to lose someone else to this man who seems to have become obsessed with Alli.
But that is not the only thing the couple has to contend with. Damien's parents continue to snub Alli and try to drive a wedge between the couple. The stress of living under the constant threat of an obsessed stalker, the negative pressure of the parents and the constant scrutiy of security may well prove to be too much on this relationship.....
*****
Once again, a very mellow and sweet start building up to a strong crescendo!
Funny how both the first book TRUST ME and this one start off almost too romantic....too good to be true, to the point where I have had to almost force myself to continue knowing Ms. Mayer would pull the plug soon! And she did. Rainbows, unicorns and rosy coloured glasses all disappeared as reality came crashing back down, popping the blissful bubble around Alli and Damien. And meanie that I am.....I rubbed my hands in glee. NOW it was getting good!!
After getting a taste early on in the book of Damien's 'softer' side, at the first sign of threat to his beloved Alli, the dark and dangerous Alpha protector springs up once again. And although somewhat tempered by Alli's loving ministrations, he still can't help himself but bark orders and make decisions, all but foaming at the mouth at the idea of someone wanting close to HIS woman.
Alli, in the meantime, has all but given up asserting herself against Damien. Terrified of the invisible and anonymous threat to her, she has very little choice but to give in to her man's ability to control his and her safety. More secure in his love and understanding of his background, she is able to provide him with the assurances and support he needs.
Of course there are copious amounts of hot and steamy sexual encounters.... the two still not able to keep their hands off each other and 'anywhere goes' seems to apply. Get the icecube tray ready!
This all but concluded the story for Alli and Damien, but we are not done.....there are some loose ends and we have another book coming. Certain nefarious characters have been lurking around that have not been addressed yet, and Sam, Alli's best friend, is a character that bears closer inspection as well. She has been a prominent presence in both TRUST ME and LOVE ME.
I will certainly be signing up for the next book in this series. Both of them have done a 'push and pull' with me and that alone intrigues me. I enjoy Kristin Mayer's writing style tremendously and will absolutely keep my eyes peeled!
✨From luscious bliss to bitter betrayal, it's all here....✨
I received and ACR in exchange for an honest review
Kristin Mayer did not disappoint with the follow up to “Trust Me”. I absolutely love Allie and Damien. You have to read “Trust Me” before you read “Love Me” or you will have no clue what is going on. This series is a must read!! Just like with “Trust Me” I could not put it down and finished in one sitting.
I don’t want to say a lot about the actual content of the book because it is a continuation of the drama that started in the first book. However, I will say that Damien is one of the best alpha males that I have read and really enjoyed in a while. Damien and Allie are so great together and I love their chemistry and how they argue and banter with each other like a real couple.
Kristin did a great job at keeping you guessing about what was going to happen and who the mystery man is that is now obsessed with Allie. Damien will do anything to protect her and find out who hurt his sister and now has their sights on Allie. Will they be able to figure out who is after Allie or will she end up like Damien’s sister? Their love is tested to the limits; will Damien’s past be too much for Allie to deal with?
I loved that this book kept you guessing what was going to happen and who Damien and Allie should trust and let help them and who they shouldn’t. I love the characters in this book and can’t wait for Sam’s book. “Love Me” will keep you on you entertained and wanting to turn the pages to see what happens next. You will not be disappointed!!
This book starts just where the last book Trust me left off. The story was engaging and well- paced and kept me second guessing myself, just when i thought i had worked it out as to who the mad man was, another twist would occur and i would be left thinking WTH its not him. I totally loved the fact that Kristin keeps you guessing and doesnt give the bad guy away till very near the end.
Love me is so much more than just a sweet love story, although there is lots of love story in there, this book has such a great depth that draws you into the story like no other.
Damien continues to be such a loving protective guy, who would go to the ends of the earth to make Alli happy. Alii is still in the dream fairy tail relationship and is loving every second of it.
Then this book takes you through the reality of Damien's dark past, their horrific present, and the unknown of the future! throw in a odd set of parents and a crazy ex that cannot take no for a answer, and a killer on the loose, your left wondering will Damien and Alli ever get there happy ever after.
This series so far has taken me on one hell of a ride, Mr Wales will make you swoon, Damien and Alli's love story is one of the greats, and Sam Alli's best friend will make you laugh with her one liners.
Sam's story is next and i so want to know her secret, i cannot wait for her book! If you havent read this series yet i highly recommend that you do!
Allison is finally ready to move on and love again after dealing with the tragic loss of her parents from book 1. Being engaged to Damien she is looking forward to spending the rest of her life in Damien’s arms. But Damien’s past still haunts them. Now they have to deal with an ex that won’t let Damien go, a guy chasing after Allison, and to top it all off, a murderer?!!
I’m going to keep this short & sweet. Kristin did such a wonderful job. I loved the romance, but it wasn’t all just romance. There was also mystery, and boy was it ever. Right when I thought I had it all figured out, there was another plot twist that had me guessing even more. I was never right with my guesses ugh!!. But that is what made this story so enthralling. I swear I was going to break my ipad in half from tensing so much. I just could not guess what would happen next, and I had to know already. I was sitting on edge through the whole story so yes I finished this in one sitting. I am still in a huge book hangover. I just can’t get over it!!!! I loved this, it is a MUST read. Don’t forget this is Book 2 so you HAVE to read book 1 Trust me. So what are you waiting for and start reading this series. It will not disappoint. Erica-The Book Nuts
***** I received an ARC copy for an honest review *****
HOLY SMOKE I love this book, I read the first book and I love it, now I don't know which one I love more the first one or this one, love the characters and how the book turned out to be, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
This book picks right up where the first book ( Trust Me )end it. Alli and Damien are in love, engaged and moving on with their lives, but Damien past still haunts them, and to top it all of they have to deal with Damien Ex who wont live him alone, in the meantime Alli is getting anonymous threat, she has little choice but to give in to her man's ability to control his and her safety. And Damien will do anything and everything to protect her.
I love reading about Alli and Damien, love it how you get to see different side of Damien, and let me just say love it that they still cant keep their hands off each other, and the sex scene are hot. I wish I could say more their is so much going on in this book and I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I really love and enjoy reading this book. Author Kristin Mayer THANK YOU for introducing me to this amazing book and this awesome characters, cant wait to keep reading more of your books.
Gosh, I just LOVE this series!! Kristin is such an amazing author, and has one of those minds that sees so much deeper than just a love story! "Love Me" had me on edge, and just when I thought I had the mystery figured out, I realized I was all wrong.
I swear Damien and Allie cannot catch a break. One minute they are in complete marital bliss, and the next they are back to the reality of his horrific past, their horrific present, and the unknown of the future! Then add in the desperate ex that cannot take no for an answer, the betrayal of a best friend, and a killer on the loose that is after the love of Damien's life....and you get one of the best series ever in my personal opinion!!
I am more in love with Mr. Wales now than I was after reading "Trust Me," and I had no idea that would even be possible! This is a 5 star read, and I promise you will be left wanting more! I do not want to spoil anything so I will stop here, but if you have yet to meet Damien Wales yet then I highly suggest you grab your copies now!! This series will give you the ride of your life, and Damien and Allies love story will melt your heart and make you swoon all over the place!! *Sighs*
This book picks up where Trust Me ended. Alli and Damien are in love, engaged and moving on with their lives. Yet the mystery that surrounds them also persists. I like how the author drew out the suspense. When I thought I had figured it out, she had something occur that made me second guess myself. It was well- written without being cheesy mystery. The story was engaging and well- paced. Sam continued to be incredible- I can't wait to read her story! The tension between Mills and Damien- wow. The love and passion between Damien and Alli was scorching hot. They were funny and honest. He learned how she needed time to "process" and she learned how to bring him down off the possessive ledge. They balanced each other. And while it may have been insta love- it worked. Cassandra and Damien's parents continue to be Grade A a$$es. No big surprise there. Love how Alli dealt with them as well as how Damien supported her! I do wish there was more to the ending, but figure their story will continue with Promise Me. Mystery, suspense, out of this world steam and love- what more would you want in a great book??
I was so excited when Love Me, book 2 in the Trust Series by Kristin Mayer came out. I have been looking forward for months for it to come out and to read more of Allison Scott and Damien Wales. Just like Trust Me, book 1 in the series, it is an awesome book and it had my attention right from the beginning. I really enjoyed reading it.
In Love Me, Allison Scott and Damien Wales are starting the next chapter in their lives. They are engaged, happily in love and looking forward to their future. Their unconditional love for each other continues to grow.
In this chapter, Allison and Damien will go through a lot of bumps in the road that will make their life together hard. It all has to do with Damien’s past. Will their love for each other help them overcome this difficult time?
Kristin Mayer has done it again!! Thanks so much Kristin for another awesome book. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the Trust series. I definitely recommend all my book friends to check out Love Me after reading Trust Me, book 1 in the series where it all began for Allison and Damien.
Book #2 in Kristin Mayers' Trust Series picks up right where the first book ended! Thank you for that. Thank You! Thank you! No time wasted on a recap! LOL It had been eating me up inside waiting for the next book. If you like a good WHODUNNIT, then you will enjoy trying to figure out the mystery that has been weaved throughout the first two books. Damien is still protective as ever of Alli. He is probably one of the most thoughtful "Alpha" characters I have read to date. I mean sheesh the attention to details.....mind blown. He's perfect. Sigh. Alli is still trying to hold herself together with the psycho killer still on the loose. I loved how their love grew and matured throughout the story with everything going on in their lives. I had no clue who the killer/stalker was! I mean, I had my suspicions but I never could quite figure it out. I look forward to Sams story in book #3. That lady has some secrets I can not wait to find them out!!
