“…the great loves of our lives aren’t the people we marry or the ones we are with for years, but the ones we let get away.” Such is Us is the story of two college friends, Charles Parker and Caroline Belford who let the fear of the unknown keep them from admitting their true feelings for one another. Years later, Charles has settled into a career in Charlotte, North Carolina, while Caroline is living in D.C. working on a campaign for her politician boyfriend as he runs for Senate. Fed up with the constant reminders of her that seem to surround him, Charles sets out to finally tell her the truth. But will it be four years too late?
Such Is Us is a beautifully written novel. Each character comes to life and become like a friend to the reader. I simply could not put this book down once I started reading it. Krista Thomas is extremely talented. Her ability to bring these fictional characters and events to life is extraordinary! I would recommend this book to anyone! I love that it is passionate and romantic while remaining classy and wholesome. Read this book-I cannot say that enough! It will not disappoint, and you will not regret it! I look forward to more novels by Krista Thomas!
"I believe that the greatest love of all is the one you never truly get to experience, the great loves of our lives aren't the people we marry or the ones we are with for years, but the ones we let get away. You, Charlie, are that one for me."
Sometimes fate has a very funny way of making our lives a bit crazier. This book is about love, hope and making choices. Roller coaster of emotions. And acceptance that life doesn't always go as planned.
I don't know about this story. Caroline is a weak person and the guys are caught in the mess she keeps dragging out . in real life they would called it quits as many time as,she flopped back and forth. you get tired trying to keep up with her . it doesn't seem like she loves either one that deeply. that's why I only gave it three stars .
Overall I liked the book. At times I was upset because of the characters and the endless doubts they had. I had to read last few pages twice. I felt slightly cheated that we don't find out what happened that finally changed the character's minds.
