I thought this was a quick little read about tips to help not only get through reading material faster but also knowing how to comprehend it as well. Most of the tips were in regard to getting past the habits picked up when we first learn how to read: sounding words out and reading one word at a time. I'd recommend this to college students as textbooks can be very boring and time consuming to read.

I was able to pick up this short book while it was free on Amazon. I do read a lot, but think that I do read rather slowly. So, I jumped at the chance to read this one! I found a lot of helpful suggestions here and have been attempting to put them to work. The major one being not sounding out the words as you read them. The author claims that you will never read faster than 150-200 words per minute if you are doing this. It can be difficult giving up a life-long bad habit, but I have been practicing and believe my speed has improved. I have not lost any comprehension doing this!

Definitely recommended for anyone wishing to improve their reading. Even if you pick up a few good tips, it is well worth it!

This was an extremely speedy read. Lol! A fairly simplistic overview of some techniques for speed reading. It didn't discuss anything in depth, nor did it provide concrete examples of the techniques. About the only lesson I took away with me was to try to stop "speaking" the words in my head while reading, as that slows you down. I will be looking elsewhere for a more in depth treatment of the topic. On the other hand, this "book" (more like a brochure) was free. You get what you pay for!
