3/10

Tenía muchísimas ganas de leer este manga. Tenía unas expectativas enormes puestas en ella. Y he salido tremendamente decepcionada.

Okumura's first impression of Takamine is that he's kind of creepy - he's wearing a fake smile and isn't easy to get along with. However, Takamine's boss - who's a drinking buddy of Okumura - asks Okumura to do something about that, and so Okumura invites Takamine out for a drink. It turns out that Takamine simply genuinely doesn't know much about human relationships, and doesn't have any friends. When he hears this, Okumura offers to be his friend, but he soon realizes what he feels for Takamine is more than friendship, and his behaviour soon crosses the lines. And then Takamine, too realizes that he's in love with Okumura, but Okumura is hesitant to become lovers "officially" because he thinks romantic love doesn't last as long as friendships do.

Okay, so my description very probably doesn't do this manga justice - it was another "trinity" online buy (meaning it was recommended to me, had good reviews and I liked the cover) and another success. It was a really satisfying and moving read, and I loved the art. The pacing was a bit off - it might have been better to draw the beginning out a little and shorten the conflict in the middle, because there it felt a bit repetative and forced. But there were enough really well done scenes to make up for that, and apart from one comment about "taking the women's role", the seme/uke relationship and all its implications was pretty much missing, which I loved. And while I'm not sure how realistic the reactions of Okumura's friends are, there at least was an effort to ground the story somewhat in reality regarding the acceptance of homosexuality in Japan (compared to other BL stories, which isn't saying that much I guess). The sex scenes were really hot, because of the way the mangaka managed to interweave the emotions, and because of her artwork. It also felt like the amount of sex scenes included was exactly right, plus there were some really lovely intimate scenes as well.

The one star that's missing for the five is because it does move a little too fast in the beginning, but apart from that it was pretty much perfect and I enjoyed it a lot. Since this was the third manga I read by this author, and I liked all of them, I'll definitely check out more of her stuff.

Edit: I read this a second time on Feb. 9, 2014, and it was just as lovely the second time around.

A sweet story, a double g4u. I like how Okumura realizes the weird guy is actually nice and cute. It is similar to the previous yaoi I've read, where also one of them befriends the other one (who never had a friend). I like how Okumura takes advantage of the situation, because Takamine doesn't know HOW to be a friend... "is it ok for friends to sleep together? to touch each other so much?" "Yes Takamine, it is fine but as long as it is with me only" XD

The cuteness decreases a little bit once they get together and Okumura is all "I don't want to be hurt/hurt him, so it is better to break up". I dislike this kind of premise, it is so silly. Nevertheless, it is somewhat better than other stupider misunderstandings/issues that keep them apart... I also like that, once they are established, they talk about marriage and moving together. It was refreshing, something I've never (I think) read before in a yaoi. Marriage! And that they touch the theme of "homosexuality" with their friends. Mostly in yaoi is "yes, I like him" and that's it, no reaction from friends. Here, instead, there is SOME kind of shocked reaction. In the world of yaoi, this one is pretty realistic.

Seems like the mangaka did this manga all by herself. The art is very cute (i love their eyes, so nice; their few sex scenes were hot because of how intimate and romantic they were) but there were panels without any drawing at all (only dialogue bubbles) and there was mostly no background, which made me wonder if the mangaka had any assistant at all...

This was just sooo cute!

It's a really good manga, from the lovely art, to the witty dialogues and well developed characters to quite interesting interactions and debate over the intricacies of love.

This is the cutest fucking thing on the planet.

I thought it was by some unknown person, but I've actually read this author's stuff and loveeeed it, but she changed her style! Which I think is pretty interesting and cool.

Favorite bit:

I really feel like this was an exemplary way of having jealousy and possessiveness, but not at the detriment of the uke. And Okumura! Older, wiser, taking care of Takamine. My favorite kind of uke :D Aurgh. I want more.

I find the drawing style so elegant and clean. They have really cute couple interactions, one of the characters has a really shy/no social personality but is well developed in my opinion

I don’t know what makes this story so compelling, but it is. The simple but expressive characters, the way it’s never over the top but still very sweet, the softness and familiarity of the couple. I love all of it.

The drama in the end was a bit too long and could have ended a bit more climactic, but it was a cute and sexy story with anazing drawings and characters. Liked it a lot!
