Now that Holly and Max are finally together, life in Harmony Bay should be nearly perfect. Their first Valentine’s Day together is quickly approaching. Between school, interfering family, and long lost friends that have reappeared, it has the potential to turn into a complete disaster.
Or it could turn into the kind of night that neither of them will ever forget.
I loved Ditched. I totally fell in love with Amity Hope as an author after reading it and I have been reading her books and following what she has in the works since. When Always popped up, I was like "hell yeah". I reread Ditched first to set the mood and then dug in. It was good. It isn't long obviously, being a novella, but it was still good. As usual, her characters come to life no matter how much they appear in the book, a lot or a little. Max and Holly continue to evoke a whole lot of emotion in me. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 (and it may not be a completely fair reason) is because I spent a little too much of the novella annoyed with the whole Clarissa situation. I knew it would work out and not just because it's usually safe to assume such things. Always is set before the epilogue of Ditched, and since I've read all of Ditched... But even though I knew it would work out, I still couldn't help being annoyed that a whole lot of grief could have been avoided with just a little communication that wouldn't have ruined any surprises. I couldn't blame Holly for her reactions and I certainly didn't think she was overreacting no matter how things turned out. Because of that, I'm not sure I will ever be able to manage completely positive feelings more Clarissa. Still, I loved the story, being able to read more of Max and Holly' s story and I was super excited to see how it set up a new novel featuring Lanna. I'm definitely reading Burned when it comes out.
