My name is Julie Ramsey. I have been a Respiratory Therapist for over 12yrs. I work in adult critical care. I love my job but I also love to read. I have always had tons of stories in my head. I just never knew how to get them to paper. Had tried several times but never successful. About two years ago I started my blog Julies Book Review (http://juliesbookreview.blogspot.com/). It all started when I met an author on Facebook. She had made a comment that she would send me a free copy if I ran a blog. So i started one. About three or four months in, I posted a comment to twitter. I was going on vacation and asked if anyone would like a review let me know. I was booked six months out by the time my vacation started. I soon need help with the reviews. I have about twelve reviewers that work with me and I am always looking for more. The more I read the more the stories in my head wanted to come out. So when a project for school got to long I put is aside and kept it as a start of something. After the class I went back to it and continued. The Wild Bone: the white Alpha of Monroe was born. Now that I have started writing, I can't stop. The characters talk to me and tell me what it up and what needs to happen. And even now new characters want to come and get there stories told. I always laughed when I would read about authors talking to their characters. I totally get it now!

With book one out, I have book two,Restraining an Alpha, in editing. I also am working on a sci fi romance. As soon as that one is off to the editor, book 3 of the White Alpha of Monroe Series will begin. My goal is to get the sci-fi one out and book 3. i also have 2 kids first time chapter books I will try to get out as well (J.J Ramsey). So here is a Blurb for book one and a unedited excerpt of book 2 of the White alpha of Monroe series.

After being chased out of The Wild Bone, a local bar, by werewolves Sally feels like she is being watched. Is the
watcher here to help or hurt. Soon Sally is learning all kinds of things about herself, her father, whom she has never
known, and the werewolf who has been watching her and is claiming that she is his mate.

Review: what as awesome ride this book took me on. Wonderful characters that are strong and caring at the same
time. Julie Ramsey gave a great book with a nice set up for her others in the series without taking away from Sally and
Tony's story. I loved it and can't wait to read the other stories in this series.

Sally's mother just died, she has never known her father and all she has left are her best friends Cathy and Hector. The three are very close and are like family. Cathy and Hector decide to take Sally out to a new bar in town, The Wild Bone. Dancing and having a good time is the goal. When they discover the bar is very different, they end up running for their lives. Sally gets separated from her friends in the commotion. Just as she gets to her driveway, someone confronts her. The tattooed man, a werewolf, she just knows is going to kill her. After the encounter, the man is all she can think about. Sally doesn't know it yet but he is the beginning of the future her mother had hid from her and a family she had never known.

Totally loved this book. It's not my usual type of book but I fell in love with the characters & the story line..I couldn't put it down once I started it. It's an amazing quick read. It made me want to read more like it. This is the first book I've read by this author but I can't wait to read more books by Julie.

Sally is shunned by both guys and girls in her town as she grows up. It's not because of her looks or personality though she spends little to no time thinking about this even after her mother dies when Sally is eighteen. Her friends talk her into going to have fun at a bar called the Wild Bone leading to a terror filled night and a six year longing for something she doesn't understand until she meets her mate.

A very well developed storyline and a moving amount of heat define this novella. It is short and good for about three hours of escape averaging on the BBC reading pace. Another editing pass is in order. I give this a four out of five.

This is the story of Sally a young girl who has suffered a lot in her short life. Losing her mother, never knowing her father, and feeling as though she will never meet the man of her dreams. What else could possibly go wrong? Sally and her friends are about to find out as they are chased out of a local bar called The Wild Bone by two werewolves who have a lot more on there agenda then meets the eye.
I really liked this book. It was a wild ride through Sally and her friends lives that will keep you entertained and keep you guessing. This first time author does not disappoint. This is a book you don't want to miss.

I was given this book for an Honest Review.
Sally is a young woman just 18 when her mother dies. With no family and 2 close friends to help her through life now. 1 night will change Sally's future. She will meet a man and dream of him for the next 6 years. At 23 and 364 days till her 24th birthday, what she will learn will change everything she thought she knew and change herself.

This is Julie Ramsey's Debut Novel! What a great story and very different take on Paranormal/Shifters. Julie has a way of pulling the reader into the story till they are apart of it. I could not put it down. Off to read the next in this Awesome Series!!

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

*Contains spoilers* This book grabbed my attention from the start as the opening scene had plenty of action. Unfortunately, I quickly became confused and lost in the narrative. And I found my reasons for becoming lost continued throughout the book and left me less than satisfied with this story. There are several reasons why I did not enjoy this book, but I believe with attention to each this author has potential to improve her craft and write a good paranormal series.

1) The inconsistencies. The first two chapters and a chapter toward the end are marked as being from a certain character's POV, but no other chapter is marked that way and over and over the POV changes depending on who's speaking or thinking. Most of the time you're hearing things through the main female character's POV but sometimes a paragraph or so is thrown in there in somebody else's POV which is very confusing and makes the story exhausting to read and understand. Within each character's dialogue, the author changes POV from first to second to third person, sometimes in the same sentence! The tenses also change from past to present, and it all adds up to be very confusing for the reader. Sally, the main character, comes off sometimes mature due to the untimely death of her mother and absence of her father, and then at other times comes off as a 13-year old having a tantrum (saying "Gag..." and she kicked a male in his "fun bag" ). Tony at first seems mature but eventually can't be taken seriously when he also speaks like a 13-year old (he tells Sally she's "going to want sex like all the time..."). Tony gives Sally a pet-name, Sally mine, but it is referred to inconsistently (Sally-mine, Sally Mine, sally mine).

2) As my review title states, this book reads like a first draft. It seems as though the author had a plot in mind, had certain things she wanted known about each character, so she sat down at the computer and started typing. And if it came to mind, regardless of if it went with the flow of the story, it was written so as not to be forgotten. We are given facts about the main character, such as her being thankful for having a business management degree, but this is not elaborated on or connected to what is happening and ends up just junking up the book.

3) I feel this novella contains novel-sized info. We are introduced to a world where paranormal activity is known and so accepted that it's taught in schools. Sally and Tony quickly fall for one another, but too quickly to be believable. Love interests, even fated mates, have to have some sort of build-up in tension or storyline, and a few pages stating that he saw her years ago and waited until she was the appropriate age to approach her are not enough for me. I really feel this novella could have been stretched out into two novels, which would have allowed more world-building and character development.

4) Editing. I truly don't believe this novel was edited. At all. Not only is the story told from too many points of view and tenses, but the spelling and grammar mistakes are ridiculous. Sometimes it's a completely inappropriate word (were instead of where, if instead of at), words that don't exist (unreel), or it's a double negative ("No, that isn't impossible!"). Periods, commas, and quotation marks were anywhere and everywhere, and many sentences were either fragments or run-on.

5) Lastly, there were parts of story I just didn't like. In all paranormal novels I've read, werewolves and vampires operate by a code where a lesser, insubordinate member of the group is punished/killed in order to assert the leader's dominance. This is why I cannot understand why Sally would let Alex just walk away at the end. Perhaps there is a good reason or there are different rules in this world, but this was not constructed by the author and goes back to my point that more world-building should have been done. It was also very odd that Sally, who was just meeting her father and was sitting around a table with four other people, would openly speak of losing her virginity or randomly have make-out sessions in front of everyone. This goes back to my point that the author seemed to get an idea of something she wanted to have happen in the story and just type it out without thinking of how it played into what was currently happening.

I don't write this review with the intention of dissuading the author from writing or to put down her work. I think the premise of the story is great: a world where paranormals are known and accepted, a female werewolf alpha, two mates meeting and coming together. What I think is lacking is consistency and direction in the storytelling as well as overall editing. If these mistakes can be fixed, I think the story taking place in Monroe, MI could be quite intriguing.

Short but entertaining...

This book starts out with a group of young teenage friends heading to a local club. Once they arrive, they discover they’ve walked into a club for the supernatural, and they aren’t exactly welcome. After a tense escape, the group returns to their normal lives. Flash forward six years and Sally encounters Tony, the sexy stranger (werewolf) that helped her escape disaster that fateful night so long ago. And, at twenty four, she is just as attracted to him as she was at eighteen. Tony knew from his first encounter with Sally she was his mate but he was forbidden to act on his attraction until she turned 24. Now that she has come of age, he is determined to make his mark and claim her as his own. Unfortunately the local pack’s beta is also determined to claim Sally. Sally’s entrance into the supernatural world sets off a chain of events that she never saw coming.

I really enjoyed this story. It was short and quick, but entertaining. The author captivates her reader from the very first chapter. The story flows well and was easy to follow. I also enjoyed the different take on the paranormal/supernatural world where it’s not a secret. The human’s know about all the paranormal beings and dislike/avoid them, which felt natural and added a realistic feel to the story. This book would be a solid 4 stars if it were not for editing problems. Don’t let that dissuade you, it is worth the read. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

The Wild Bone
The White Alpha of Monroe
By Julie Ramsey

Sally had no idea that walking into a were club would change her life forever. A not so chance meeting with Tony would six years later prove that the fates always have their hand upon your life even when you don’t realize it.
Sally dreams and remembers the hot and sexy male that saved her life that one night by not letting any of the other werewolves get to her. After six years she doesn’t understand why she can’t forget him. I mean they only met each other once and that wasn’t for very long.
Tony knows from the moment he sees her that she is his true mate, but has to wait six years to claim her so she is able to live a “human life” and have “human experiences”.
Time is almost up, and Tony knows if he doesn’t claim her now, others will and that includes one in particular that has also been waiting to lay his claim.
Just in the nick of time Tony makes her as his own and in the process sets off a whole new series of events that do indeed change her life forever, but move her into her rightful position that she was created for.
I was given this book as a gift for a review. This was the first book I’ve ready by Julie Ramsey and it won’t be my last. I can’t wait to see what adventures Julie, Tony and the rest of the pack take us on next. I definitely recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed.
I have chosen to give this book 4 stars instead of five only because of editing.

Sally and her friends go out one night, and it changes Sally's destiny. It takes six years before she realizes just how much that night affected her, but when she does... WOW. Sally soon learns of her family history, and discovers powers she did not realize she had. Similar to True Blood, American society suffers growing pains in accepting the paranormals as they assimilate. Sally then must learn her place in the paranormal realm.

I found the references to the 1964 Civil Rights Act and paranormal education in school to be quite interesting, as it helped to depict an alternate reality. Although the premise of a human finding out she is part paranormal is nothing new, the action in the first chapter pulls the reader in. One reviewer wrote that this novella needs some work. It could indeed use another round of editing/proofreading, this is true. But I find typos even in James Patterson and the big names--if you look for errors, you will find them anywhere. Do not allow a few mistakes to keep you from this interesting tale that I finished in one sitting. Overall, it was a delightful read despite a few flaws. I really enjoyed it, and truthfully, paranormal stories are not among my favorites.

The Wild Bone: The White Alpha of Monroe

This was an amazing read; it does need some editing and normally I'd not give 5 stars as a result but the story was perfect and impossible to put down. It really is a 5-star read. Sally is barely 18 and attempting to go about the 'normal and expected' life routine; upon burying her mother she goes to college and when finished, still isn't quite complete. Until Tony shows himself to her... I admire the honestly between the two. From their first conversation, he is completely honest with her - so there is none of the usual drama that comes with such stories of having to overcome some big misunderstanding. Instead the two get to know one another while Sally gets to know herselves- yes '-selves' - that is her 'woman' and her wolf both. I do not want to give anything away - I will just say I loved the style in which this story was told: characters were relatable and this is a world in which humans are aware of (and progressively becoming accepting of) the Paranormal. That, thankfully made for more keeping to the story and less of the usual coming to terms with the discovery of the paranormal. Highly recommend.

I was given a copy of The Wild Bone by Julie Ramsey in exchange for an honest review.

This paranormal romance, where an eighteen year old orphan girl’s life changes because of an outing her best friends insisted she go on one evening, was a very interesting read. It involved werewolves, mating, and dominance within a pack. I don’t want to spoil the fun or surprises so I will stop there.

If you like reading about mythical creatures and a bit of erotic romance, then I recommend you read this book.

I must admit that I found the story a bit short, but I hear there is a sequel in the making and I am looking forward to reading it.

In the muddled fray of werewolf and vampire books out there, this supernatural romance definitely stands out. The main character is well-developed, and the story moves quickly through several twists to a great climax. It is a very quick read, and it flows nicely, but it could benefit from some editing - the tense changed from past to present very often, which made it a bit distracting. Maybe it's because I'm an editor, so it may not bother anyone who's not a stickler for perfection. Five out of five, but docked one for editing.

The Wild Bone is a quick cute love story about a young woman that instantly finds her mate and her place in the world after being lost for a couple years. It has a mix of action and romance. It's definitely an insta-love book, with a sweet guy, he's not an alpha or a jerk. It's set up so your meet the bad guy and find out more about Sally, but you'll have to wait for the next book to get more. I enjoyed it, there were a few grammar/spelling mistakes, but none that took away from the story. I'm definitely going to read the next one in the series, I'm curious about what will happen next.

Julie Ramsey created a very believable paranormal world. Sally doesn't understand why she is a loaner until Tony comes into her life. Then she discovered she isn't just human.
This was a fast read, which is good in away because I didn't want to put it down, but bad in another way because I didn't want it to end. I'm very glad it's only the first in a series.
