I appreciate the introduction with tips on feeding baby. And I liked that it was broken down by food types, from purees to snacks and different solids. These just seem....difficult to make and honestly very whole foodsy and clean. Nothing wrong with that. But I was sort of looking for recipes on mac and cheese with vegetables mixed in that DON'T make the dish florescent green? Stuff toddlers may actually eat...
The book is beautiful and the recipes are interesting. However, not only are there multiple spelling mistakes/editing errors, there are no citations at the end to back up any of the numerous health claims made throughout the book. There is also no nutritional index for each recipe, which I personally think should be included given that this was written by health professionals.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ yay! What a beautiful book that has inspired me greatly for when solids start. I borrowed this from the library but am going to buy my own copy to make notes. Interesting recipe ideas and helpful guidance in the book section to begin.
**A Thoughtful Guide to Nourishing Your Growing Family**
*Baby Food Bible: A Nourishing Guide to Feeding Your Family, From First Bite and Beyond* is an appealing resource for parents who want to make informed, thoughtful choices about feeding their little ones. Introducing babies to food is an important milestone, and having practical guidance can help families approach this stage with greater confidence. The focus on nourishment and feeding from the first bite onward makes this book especially interesting for caregivers looking to build positive food habits as their children grow. I appreciate the broader family-centered approach, which recognizes that feeding a baby is not just about individual meals but also about creating enjoyable routines around food. For new parents, the subject offers an opportunity to explore different foods, flavors, and age-appropriate eating experiences. The book's focus on nourishing the family also makes it relevant beyond the earliest stages of feeding. Overall, this title is a promising addition to a parenting and cookbook collection, particularly for families seeking inspiration and guidance as they navigate their children's changing nutritional needs and develop healthy mealtime habits together.
“Baby Food Bible” is a thoughtful and practical guide for parents navigating the exciting journey of introducing food to their little ones. I loved the focus on nourishing the whole family and the idea of building healthy, positive eating habits from those very first bites.
The book is easy to approach and offers useful guidance without making feeding feel complicated or stressful. I especially appreciated how it goes beyond the early stages and considers the child’s changing needs as they grow. It feels like a resource parents can return to throughout different stages of feeding.
The emphasis on nutritious, family-friendly choices makes this a particularly helpful addition to a new parent’s kitchen shelf. It provides plenty of inspiration while encouraging parents to make thoughtful food choices for their children and family.
Overall, this is an informative, encouraging, and useful resource for parents who want to feel more confident about feeding their babies and creating a healthy foundation for family meals. A wonderful reference for the journey from first bite and beyond!
1. Constantly coding foods as healthy or unhealthy, rather than just focusing on nutritional content (given babies often eat so little, you want what they eat to pack a punch). This is eating disorder language. 2. No citations. Heaps of nutritional claims but no backing. 3. Errors.
And lastly, it’s not baby food if a good half of the recipes are for babies over 12 months, with many being over 18 months or over 24 months. The recipes look ok, but I prefer the organisation of boob to food’s book milk to meals, as it is sorted by age.
Lastly, I wish more of these books had a ‘good enough’ approach. Tell me what is non-negotiable (backed by science, not your personal opinion) and what is nice to have. I’m not making my own wraps, guys. I do not have time. But I will be hard and fast on no honey before 12 months.
I just don’t want mums out there thinking they have to make everything from scratch.
Look once you make 10 x of these recipes that all use squished banana and besan flour and nut butter and chia seeds - you kinda get it. I would say 60% of these recipes don't turn out great / aren't particularly tasty and are heavily repetitive throughout. Absolute mess of an edit and glossary, which really shits me and I find insulting as a buyer. Particularly looking up an ingredient e.g zucchini and not having all those recipes referenced in the glossary is so annoying. Overall not great
I was running out of ideas for my 10month old and this helped so much! I love that they are baby recipes with actual flavour so they’re delicious for the whole family. Definitely not for the budget conscious though.
