I'm Lynn, a children's books author who lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, U.S.A., with my husband and children, and a couple of quirky cats. ( I also write as S. Lynn Helton. )

I enjoy the mountains, playing games, learning new things, and crafting. I'm also an avid reader and like to read most types of books, although fantasy, mystery, and science fiction are my current favorites. My choice of what to read often depends on what appeals to me at the time. I read more than I remember to record.

Min: the Cat Who Guards the Castle is such a charming and heart-warming read. From the very first page, Min steals your attention with her gentle bravery and lovable personality. Even though she’s “only a rather small cat,” she proves that courage, loyalty, and kindness don’t depend on size.

The story is simple yet magical, making it perfect for young readers and also enjoyable for adults who appreciate sweet, meaningful tales. I especially loved how Min takes her role in the castle seriously, looking after the little things while still stepping up when the bigger challenges come. It sends a beautiful message about responsibility and believing in yourself.

The illustrations add another layer of warmth and whimsy to the experience they fit the story perfectly and bring Min’s world to life.

Overall, this is a delightful, uplifting book filled with heart. A wonderful read for families, classrooms, or anyone who enjoys stories with strong morals, lovable characters, and a touch of fairytale magic.

Adorable!

This is a heartwarming tale about an adorable cat called Min - and his adventures to help find some missing items from his owner.
He doesn’t live in ordinary house - he’s a rather ‘royal’ cat, who shows much loyalty and willingness to help with the search.
The items missing are sentimental and valuable so everyone is involved in the hunt - including Min!
Will they find what they are looking for? Will they discover more than what they are searching for?
I guess that you will just have to check out this beautiful story to find out.
The illustrations are cute and perfectly complement the story too. It also comes with a beautifully illustrated glossary too.

"Min, the Cat Who Guards the Castle” is a charming and simple story with a heartwarming ending. It follows Min, a courageous and loyal cat who takes on the role of protecting a grand castle. The narrative is straightforward, but its charm lies in its warmth and the strong bond between Min and those in the castle. The tale reminded me of the classic tales by Constancio C. Vigil I enjoyed in my childhood, which speaks volumes.

While the plot and themes are lovely, the illustrations didn't quite resonate with me. They felt a bit off compared to the tenderness of the narrative, which was slightly distracting. However, this minor setback doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

Min a cat who guards the castle is a cute and simple story about, well, the cat who guards the castle!
While reading, it reminds me of my favorite childhood cartoon, Tom and Jerry. Every time it shows human characters, we only see their legs, as we experience the tale of the cat from PoV.

While reading, I had two notes in my mind. First, it would be great if there were some educational information about the birds. I know a bit about them, and it checks out, but it would be good to have confirmations. And the book does have that.
Another one was about the font. It looks a bit weird to me, but apparently, it is a dyslexia-friendly font.

We learn things from this book!

It's a good, simple, educational book for kids. I just wish I could see the baby mice more clearly.

Cute book!

This story is about a cat called Min who guards the castle, and helps look for a missing bookmark and pen belonging to the Prince and Princess.

Loved the illustrations and the clever way they told the story from Min's perspective (seeing feet rather than faces). Other animals are introduced including the bowerbird. It teaches kids that even small creatures can help.

Overall, a lovely tale that can be enjoyed by the target audience.

Min: the Cat Who Guards the Castle is a brief children's book that stars a Manx-mix kitty that's on a quest to locate her owner's missing bookmark. She hunts down her leads, takes a nap (she is a cat, after all), and eventually cracks the case. The text and drawings are consistent with a small cat's POV, which is a cute touch. This is a story for very young kids, but adults who love cats will probably also enjoy.

We loved the pictures and this story! Min is a sweet and curious cat who earnestly sets out to help two children find their missing favorite objects. It was cute seeing her play detective. Personally I loved how all of the humans were drawn from the knees down so you never see their faces. This way Min is always the star of the show. It reminded me of the Charlie Brown method of scrambling the adult voices to keep the focus on the kids. A good book.

This sweet children’s story is about a cat named Min who loves her Princess and Prince and does what she can to help them. When some sentimental items go missing, Min joins her humans in the hunt to find them.
The illustrations were wonderful and so fitting to the story since they were drawn from Min’s point of view, meaning, the drawings show feet instead of faces.
The narrative is strong and easy to follow. Kids and adults who adore cats (that’s me!) should enjoy this quick read.

This is a fun story about a cat who is a bit of a sleuth and detective, as well as a hero. It is quite short for adults, but makes a perfect tale for children or pet lovers. While I am more of a dog person myself, I found it quite warm and inviting. Kids and parents will both get a kick out of following the little adventure and mystery regarding missing items that the royalty of the castle are searching for, plus some humor and naps along the way. Recommended.

Really enjoyed this. Min is such a sweet character and we loved how everything is shown from the cats perspective - you only see peoples legs and feet which is a clever touch! Nice illustrations throughout and not too long for bedtime reading.
Good for the age range, would definately recommend if your looking for something a bit different.
