Desperation led me to his house. Lust led me to his bed. I was homeless, strapped for cash, and running from my past. Now I'm here, in a brand-new state, miles away from home, and sleeping in the room next to his. The room with the revolving door of females. I know he's a bad idea for me. He's cocky, a manwhore, and way too self-assured for a sheltered girl with secrets. But when he smiles at me, I lose my freaking mind.
I don't want her in my home. She's too sweet for a prick like me. Too innocent. Too f*cking much. I have more baggage, secrets, and commitments than she could ever understand. I need her gone, dammit, but I keep pulling her back in. I'm blurring lines with this girl. She's a temptation I can't resist, and I'm losing my head. I'm so goddamn screwed…

What did I just read ? I’m sorry have to jump from 5 stars of yours to one Why oh why I even survive to read it at the end ... With a bleeding hope the h will for once stand for herself H is the most distracting personality, rude , manwh0r3 and oh so full of himself Nope whatever terrible past you have you were not allow to treat any women like him Please grow up I’m basically rambling here because there’s so many scene really taking my nerves up the notch So sorry sometimes romance must stay romance , I don’t sign up for this BS of a meek h and super b0ll0cks H to add on the bonus a very disgusting gf who like to bodyshame or all kind of women shame
Yes you got it right this H so called H here were taking the V card of h while have a gf not that only he still do it with the gf and name calling h with reason to protect her , Man.... he definitely lost his balls Oh well not a problem after so many rejection & absolutely mistreating by H - the h will always come back to him because she is so fragile and in love Girl put some dignity , I’ll get some tea to cooling down from this distracting read ride
2.5 or 3 Stars? The editing was awful! I over looked it because I liked the book until the last 10%. I just can't believe this book ended like it did! WHY???? I can't imagine reading another whole book about them! Lee decides at the end of this book to finally push Kyle away??? WTF??? Jeez! Just fucking stupid!! I see there is not one but three more books after this. Well good luck if you decide to jump into the crazy drama train! I will just pretend that Lee and Kyle had their happily ever after in this one. lol
Reread 2021 - I feel like my heart has been through a blender. 😫😫😫
This book is just filled to the brim with all the drama and angst, and ends on a sh*tty cliffhanger.
I whined through the whole thing. B*tching and moaning to my long-suffering reading buddy. 🤣
Random observations:
Kyle is such an @$$hole!
This Rachel b*tch is the wooooorrrrrrrst! Die! Die! Die!
Oh poor sweet Lee. You darling dumb-dumb. Poor lamb.
*Clutches Pearls* Well, DAAAAAAAMMMN, Kyle! 👀 look at you with the jealous/ possessive *dir-tay talk* 🥵🥵🥵
Oh nooooooooooooo!!!! 😱😱😱😩😩😩😩😩😭😭😭
I can’t take it.
I can’t.
My poor tortured baby, Kyle. 😢😢😢🥺
Bottom Line? Did I want to DNF every other chapter of this REREAD? Hell. Yes. Did I love it? Also, yes. Will I reread the next book? Absolutely. After I give my poor beat up heart a rest. 💔 🤡 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 — I could take everything except where he left Lee to walk home from work alone for WEEKS after he took her v-card. I know he was avoiding her, but that was a step too far for me. 😬 He could have at least followed her like a sad sack to be sure she got home ok. 🤷🏼♀️ Sorry, Kyle, you lose half a star. 😅
⚠️SAFETY SQUAD SPOILERS⚠️
*DEEP BREATH*
- cheating? Ummm… no-ish? Really depends on how you define it. If you require absolute fidelity after they meet, this isn’t for you. This situation is *complicated* The H kisses the h and has several heavy petting sessions before they are committed and he is still whoring around… for *reasons* - he’s trying very hard to resist her 🤷🏼♀️ it’s not a black and white situation.
- no sharing
- aaaaaallll the OW drama - there’s an Evil Cackling Whore who has him by the balls, basically blackmailing him… it’s all but rape 🤷🏼♀️ - he is also sleeping with OP… as both a middle finger to the psycho OW, but also in a desperate attempt to stay away from the h… *REASONS*
- OM drama - H gets crazy jealous over anyone who looks at the h. 😍😍😍😍
- no dubcon - besides the H being coerced into sex with OW
- h is a virgin
- H is a manwhore — HOWEVER - he always wraps it up. It’s an important plot point. 👌🏻
- domestic violence against the h by OP (flashbacks)
- attempted sexual assault against the h by OP (flashbacks)
- miscarriage - on page

Packed with angst, drama and unnecessary bs, but in some twisted kind of way I did enjoy parts of it. Still need to recover from the constant whiplash it gave me!
Did I seriously read the same story as everyone else..? I don’t understand why it has received so many 5 stars. The Hero is an asshole/manwhore. The heroine is a dumb doormat and is so freaking needy. Too much back and forth I had to push myself to finish the story just too find out why Rachel had such a hold on Kyle. Well finally found out and it’s so stupid.
This series will forever be my top favorite and I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never even written a review for it until now (sorry Chloe!), even though I’ve reread it at least 3 times and that doesn’t include the many times I have went back and skimmed through my favorite parts that I keep bookmarked.
But, in my defense, this was before I started writing reviews… so, there’s that.
And I’ve been after Charlotte to read this series for almost a year, so now that’s she finally started to read it, I couldn’t let her write a review for the blog without putting in a word or two myself.
I’ll make this review easy and list the reasons I love this series so damn much…
Reason #1: Kyle Carter
Reason #2: Kyle Carter
Reason #3: Kyle Carter
Reason #4: Nevermind.. I’m sure you can figure it out.
That man completely owns my heart, even if he is fictional, because a girl can dream… Am I right ladies? Even though he starts out as a bit of an ass and a cocky manwhore, he’s got a lot of heart in him. He’s fiercely protective over the ones he loves and once he’s in, he gives it his all.
Lee is innocent, a bit naive, the little damsel in distress, but she really starts to grow as a character in the later books.
There’s a lot of angst, drama, secrets and so many feels in this book, and the way that Chloe writes these characters, you can’t help but get wrapped up in them and want to stay buried in their fictional lives for days, or if you’re like me, years -- and I’m being completely serious here because I first read this book in 2014 and still think about it all the fucking time... and it's still held the #1 spot on my list of favorites.
Oh my gawd......this book was an emotional roller coaster for me.
So Lee and Kyle are hopelessly INLOVE but they have a big old thorn in their side by the name of Rachel di bitch...they both have pure secrets more so Kyle and he is not willing to tell lee yet out of fear of losing her....God I could scream out of frustration.
It was frustrating as hell, I swear it's the first book I wanted to jump in and kill someone...I HATE Rachel that bitch needs to die.
The sexual tension was just leaking off the pages...
I pray in book 2 they get their shit together. And hopefully Rachel falls in a dish and die lool. Really great read. I read it in one day I couldn't put it down.
HOW IS THIS THE SAME AUTHOR WHO WROTE BUYS OF TOMMEN. fucking hell every five seconds they fight and all he has to do is call her princess or touch her knee and she’s jumping his dick again settle tf down and learn how to teach someone not to treat u like a pile of shit
This was a book that I should've stopped reading the first time I saw you're used in place of your. This book desperately needed an editor. I tried to look past it but there were just so many errors throughout. It actually distracted me from reading because I had to mentally correct the issues in order to understand the sentence. Words were duplicated and omitted everywhere I looked. As far as the story itself, it was ok but predictable. Actually it was quite idiotic at times. I'm glad the writer was kind enough to give us the full reveal in the prologue of book 2 because there was no way I would've purchased book 2 after reading through this story. I enjoyed most of the book, otherwise I wouldn't have finished it. But it was a difficult one to get through.
This was a great toxic relationship book. The heroine was too naive and the hero, too much of a womanizer. But I still enjoyed it until the end. Their chemistry was really 🔥.
I can't stop thinking about this book. It is amazing, a must read for all those who like sexy alpha males. The book had so many plot turns that I was kept on my toes, but was still easy to follow.
The book is split between Kyle's version and Lee's.
The book starts with Lee arriving on her best friend Cam's house in the middle of the night and it rockets on from there, filling in the blanks so slick.
Lee is shy and nervous, and seems to be afraid of her own shadow, which isn't much use to her when she moves in with Cam. She's had a very traumatic childhood which is revealed as the book unfolds. (I cried when I finally understood what happened to her. The writer nailed it as far as I'm concerned.)
Lee quickly finds herself in the arms of bad boy roommate Kyle who basically the sexiest man alive (in books) and is as messed up as Lee.
Kyle is gorgeous, filthy rich and completely screwed up. He got himself involved with the books 'resident villain' Rachel(rotten, horrible, want to bump her off) and made a pact he can't get out of.
Lee who is pretty much an innocent and all round good girl is infatuated with Kyle. There is so much 'will they, won't they?' in this book that made me want to scream, in a good way. It kept me hooked through to the end.
(There is so much chemistry between these two, that I was drooling)
BTW I absolutely adore Derek. Even though he is a minor character, he is so witty, he had me in tears. Not too keen on Cam, but the way she stuck up to Lee's father in the end redeemed her some bit.
The sex scenes between Kyle and Lee were explosive, but the ending was just plain mean. I'm still sitting here wondering what the hell is going to happen. I cant wait for the next book in this series.
All in all brilliant characters and hooking storyline.
I understand that this is the author's debut novel and I respect that. Considering, I closed my eyes to the grammar mistakes that were noticeable I closed my eyes over the unclear motivation and less believable reasons that made the main characters act the way they did... Truth to be told if I had picked this book first I would never have read the book that made me interested into this author's work (I am talking about
So I won't go further and ruin my good memories of that....
What could I say? Lee aka the heroine is just dumb. And the author is confusing. I mean, what do you want from Lee? You described her as a shy girl but the reality? She was a needy virgin girl. And the main guy, was so unstable and a big chicken. I just can't...the characters were so poor defined.
I LOVED THIS !! i knew i would because i know chloe walsh never fails to make my heart ache. i just love them so much omg i’m so scared for three more books of pain though
I'm a huge Chloe Walsh fan but this book was not for me. I had to stop at page 37. I love over the top, possessive alpha guys but this book was too much too fast! I'm afraid if my eyes role back one more time they are going to get stuck there forever. Sorry Chloe
I just finished reading Break My Fall and had to download the second book in the series. Chloe Walsh did a great job in creating a wonderful story about two people who are so different, but so right for each other. I actually felt myself getting emotional in several spots of the novel (which I normally never do) and rooting for Kyle (although he is an ass in most of the novel)!!!! Great book!!! Definitely recommend it anyone who loves romance and series .... Can't wait to read the second one ....
I refuse to believe this was written by the same author that wrote my beloved boys of tommen series. The H in this was DISGUSTING to say the least.
Having said that, I’m choosing to keep my sanity and cut my losses with this series and stick to waiting (im)patiently for the next boys of tommen book. Tbh, I just really want— no NEED ADORING 13. That book is literally what I’m living for right now among all the others. I just need me my JohnnyShannon content 😭🥹
