Michael Redmond, the Duke of Cortland, needs to be in London—most expeditiously—but a band of highway robbers have thwarted his plans. Purse-pinched, coachless, and mired in mud, he stumbles on Lilly Beauchamp, the woman who betrayed him years ago.
Ladies can’t be heroes, or can they?
Michael was her first love, her first lover, but he abandoned her when she needed him most. She’d trusted him, and then he failed to meet with her father as promised. A widowed stepmother now, Lilly loves her country and will do her part for the Good of England—even if that means aiding this hobbled and pathetic duke.
They lost their chance at love, or did they?
A betrothal, a scandal, and a kidnapping stand between them now. Can honor emerge from the ashes of their love?
Married to the same man for over 25 years, I am a mother to three children and two Miniature Wiener dogs.
After owning a business and experiencing considerable success, my husband and I got caught in the financial crisis and lost everything in 2008; our business, our home, even our car.
At this point, I put my B.A. in Poly Sci to use and took work as a waitress and bartender (Insert irony). Unwilling to give up on a professional life, I simultaneously went back to college and obtained a degree in Energy Management.
And then the energy market dropped off.
And then my dog died.
I can only be grateful for this series of unfortunate events, for, with nothing to lose and completely demoralized, I sat down and began to write the romance novels which had until then, existed only my imagination. After publishing over twenty novels now, with one having been nominated for RWA’s Distinguished ™RITA Award in 2019, I am happy to tell you that I have finally found my place in life.
Thank you so much for being a part of my journey!

‘He pulsed with a vitality that nearly took her breath away’ , what an awesome sentence Annabelle has a wonderful gift for prose , she takes my breath away with her talent . Nobody’s Lady is going to be a bestseller,Thats my prediction for this book. Love at first sight , a young couple looking forward to life together , their plans thrown into chaos by tragedy , parents and cross purposes. Written beautifully as always by Annabelle, this woman has talent . If this was a piece of music , she would be honoured as a Maestro. It flows beautifully, the story is touching and emotional, the characters gel perfectly. I can’t praise it enough . I adored it . I received an advanced copy of this book and chose to submit a review
Great story telling, good plot with h treated poorly by a man and those she loved. She's practical, tenacious and sees the H's grief. My favourite trope is the heroine saving the hero. Loved their story.
Not bad. Not bad at all! A plot of contrived first love and second chances.
Inevitably, the first half of the book had chapters switching between past and present periods (note: 9 years of separation) - never my favourite reading style. But I think AA did a great job at characterising Lilly and Michael between these two periods by alternating writing tones. In the past chapters, they appeared as naive, full of youthful energy and hopes. Honestly, I didn't like their behaviours then - too young, too foolish, not enough grit and nerves... definitely a recipe for disaster. But I think they were realistic in their candidness. I liked better the 'now' chapters. This was where the characters fully bloomed in well-rounded persons, with their scars and their experiences. I loved the tone of the book in those chapters.
The Lilly and Michael of nine years prior were the victims of bad timing, foolish youthful choices and even more foolish parents (hers - see below). What Lilly went through because of all these was heartbreaking. The writing did not go deep into the pathos, but the facts provided were woeful enough. Their second chance romance was thus bittersweet but still uplifting imho. Here, AA's pen showed a certain subtility in weaving the tender drama between them and I found it all tingling to read.
Surprisingly, the plot had also a soft criticism edge towards the feminine condition in the England of 1800s through the 'choices' that were forced upon poor Lilly. No deep writing on the subject, but it still resonated nicely through the story. I seethed so much that her parents, however well meaning, coerced her to marry her late sister's husband (which the author says was illegal at the times - I didn't check but I believe her). And to add injury to insult, years later, when all the engineering parties were conveniently dead, the shame of the scandal lied entirely on Lilly's shoulders?? 😠😡🤬 Although it was a bit OTT, I applauded how in the last chapters Lilly firmly decided that she wouldn't be a victim of others anymore and she would live her life how she wanted. And she saved herself, proving she did not need a man to do so, contrarily to what society expects 👏👏
As I said, I was very agreeably surprised by this book and this author. I will definitely check more from her backlist.

Wow, Annabelle Anders never fails to astound me with her stories. Nobody’s Lady Was an absolute beautiful and touching story. There was so much emotion in this book, and all of the characters were likable. It’s a wonderful tale of a second chance romance, but due to fate the main characters were in love ones but they were separated. And yet a fire still burns for each other.
Michael and Lilly , so tragic what happened to them and what caused them to separate. There was even parts I got me teary-eyed because all they wanted was each other. But, he is married to another but there is no fire between him and lady Natalie unlike when he’s with Lilly! Lilly was somewhat guilty it into marrying her dead sisters husband and taking care of her stepdaughter/niece .. and there is no love with in that relationship. She still yearned The one that she thought she was promised to. This book made my heart flutter. As I said this book will tug at your heart strings.
Could not help but this couple see this couple together! There are twist and turns but, you only have to read for the ending because the ending is too good to spoil.
I highly can’t wait for the authors next novel. And if you haven’t begun reading her books you really should. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Heartsmile. If you love heart stopping romantic historical novels, this one is for you.. I did not want it to end because I adored this couple so much and this story will stay with me for awhile. Annabelle Anders is adept at grabbing your attention at the beginning and not letting go until the end. Her prose is so beautifully written and this story just touched me from the start. Michael Redmond, the Duke of Cortland is on his way to London when he is set upon by brigands who take his coach and all in it. Making his way to the nearest Inn, he runs into none other than his first love, Lilly Beauchamp. Their romance when they were young was so intense and she thought he had not come back for her. He thought she just married another. So they are thrown together again and the sparks are still there, in fact they never left. The story goes back and forth between their meetings when they were young and present day and is interwoven amazingly. Can there be a second chance for them after so much time had passed? Lilly was now a widow and Michael is engaged to be married with the union being more of deal between families for political reasons. As they find out that both had been under the wrong impression as to what happened all those years ago, they cannot deny their feelings. But what to do? There were so many wonderful thoughts and emotions, I wish I could pull them out for you to see. I cannot say enough about this romantic story. It will go on my keeper shelf and I will be looking for the second book in this series, hopefully soon!!! 10****
I received this book as an ARC and was very impressed with it. This is the first of Ms Anders books I have read and found it a very easy read. I enjoyed the way it was written in two time periods , 10yrs apart. They flowed beautifully and you felt like you were reading two stories at the same time. There was enough suspense to keep you reading , and the characters where well written and you could relate to them and I felt myself hoping the extra characters will one day have their own story. I feel this is a good recommendation for a book when the secondary characters draw you in. There was a small amount of sex in this book, which as usual this reviewer skipped over but it did not take away my enjoyment of the book. I would suggest this book to anyone looking for a pleasant easy read with suspense, and romance. Great book all round.
Another regency romance that I wasn’t expecting to enjoy, but, as I’m finding with this author she always seems to know what she’s doing.
Her characters are diverse, the story strong and the dialogue, some of the funniest I’ve read for a while. They’re like modern day characters but set in an old fashioned backdrop. It reads like a satire, I’ve probably mentioned this before but they just remind me of the British comedy Black Adder or Monty Python. They’re old school comedy mixed with romance and I loved it.
Don’t take my word for it though, go out and buy it and see for yourself.
Nobody's Lady was fantastic and emotional. It had so many places where it grabbed heart. I fell in love with Micheal and Lilly. My favorite was And then she spoke . “I know this, we, the two of us, for some reason is not to be. But I will cherish every moment with you, every touch.” This is a must read.
Annabelle Anders just became my go to author for historical romances!
In the past, historical romances have been my least favorite. I always thought they were hard to wrap my head around...so many things they do or say that I just didn't understand. This is the third historical by Annabelle Anders that I have read and every time I do, I appreciate them more and more.
Nobody's Lady is a second chance romance and maybe some star crossed lovers with some taboo love and an equal amount of drama, making it easy to jump in, get wrapped up in the story line and then stay the course until the end. Reading time for Nobody's Lady was a little over 5 hours and I was so caught up in the storyline that I did it in one sitting. Not once while reading was I bored.
Michael and Lilly were truly meant to be but just ran into some unfortunate circumstances when trying to get together. Likely missing their chance at true love, each moves on to be responsible and loyal to their families. When they meet by accident many years later, their roles in each others lives have transitioned into something they could have never imagined, yet their attraction and feelings have stayed the course. Add in trouble for Michael and this is one story of missed chances that readers are going to love!
I got everything I needed out of this story. Some mystery, some laughs, loads of angst and sweet romance. Enjoyed every moment of this story and I am ready for book 2!
I am giving Nobody's Lady 5 stars!
Review by Corrie H for Lamplight Review and Promotion **I received an ARC for an honest review
I don't think I've ever read one that intertwines the past and present like this and I loved it!! You really get to know both of them so much and it makes them seem so real. It was an adventure from the start with them and finding out who was behind the robbery. They didn't realize it, but everything was working to bring them together again. I was holding my breath wondering how everyone would react and then the kidnapping had me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to do a happy dance when everyone came together to and supported love. I loved Hugh and can't wait for Natalie's story. I also loved that it handled some real history.
Lilly did what her father wanted all those years ago and now she was free from it all. She broke my heart when she talked about doing what her father had wanted. But her spirit wasn't broken and I loved how she wouldn't give up and her love of animals. She didn't hold onto the past like some would.
Michael had changed in those years for many reasons, but duty doesn't always win. I loved how even though he was a duke he saw the need for change to help others. When he saw the paper I knew a fight was coming. His story about what his father said made me tear up.
This book does contain a scene between Lilly and her husband that could be triggering to some due to the nature of it. Annabelle did a great job of handling it and I feel it was needed to understand things.
Ten years ago Captain Michael Redmond met Lilly Bridges & they fell in love on first sight, they spent a whirlwind season before Michael was called away to his father, The Duke of Cortland’s estate. When he didn’t return after a few weeks Lilly’s dying father persuaded her to marry Baron Beauchamp her elder sister Rose’s widower. Michael Redmond, the Duke of Cortland, needs to be in London most expeditiously but a band of highway robbers have thwarted his plans. Purse-pinched, coachless, and mired in mud, he stumbles on Lilly Beauchamp travelling to London with her debutante step daughter. A widowed stepmother now, Lilly aids Michael in reaching London. Michael is now engaged to be married, to Lady Natalie Ravensdale. This is the first book I’ve read by the author & I was blown away by it. A lovely story of misunderstandings & second chances. The characters really spoke to me & I was enthralled. I’m not a lover of stories with flashbacks but in this story it worked, I think because they were usually a separate chapter & clearly shown as being from a decade ago. It was definitely a case of what if.. I certainly wanted Michael & Lilly to have their HEA but I also really liked Natalie & didn’t want to see her hurt & for her to find love also. Definitely a keeper & I’ll certainly be reading more from this brilliant new author
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I totally love Lilly Beauchamp, she is my hero! For all that she had to go through, and is still going through, she followed her heart and believed in her own fairy tale of a HEA.
Michael Redmond, you sir are no gentleman! There are many times in this book that I wanted to crawl in between the pages and smack you silly! It’s a good thing you finally came to your senses!
Lots of action taking place in this story with the setting in London from 1815 – 1824. During this nine year period of time you will encounter a robbery, scandal, a few betrothals, death, a fire, and a kidnapping! This book had me laughing and crying throughout!
I love that Annabelle Anders has introduced me to the genre of Regency Romance! Another great book Ms. Anders and I highly recommend it if you are into Regency Romance and enjoy a great love story!
Annabelle Anders has become one of my favorite historical romance authors. She writes such real, memorable characters! I especially love her depiction of animals and their relationships with their owners. (I’m #TeamMissFussy.)
This is a super memorable second chance romance. Michael and Lilly are on fire as young adults, and even hotter all grown up. I love the flashback sequences, and it’s beautiful to see them love one another at two distinct stages in life! If you’re looking for a feel-good second chance romance, you’ve come to the right place.
I was lucky enough to get this book for an honest review!I couldn't ask for a better book. the characters were awesome. I love the sense of humor, misunderstandings who saves who. all questions will be answered!
Michael Redmond, now the Duke of Cortland, has been ambushed on his way to London by highway robbers, who have stolen his coach and horses. He makes his way on foot to an inn, where he bumps into a face from the past, Lilly Bridges, now the widowed Lady Beauchamp. There’s a lot of history between them, but he’s now embarked on an urgent political mission and is betrothed, to boot, so that past must stay buried - if it can.
So right from the start, it’s clear that there’s a whole heap of sexual tension between these two. We see their past history unfolding in parallel with the present day events, but we’re already aware of their tragedy - that they should have married, but because of a misunderstanding, it never happened. She married the widower of her older sister, and he never married, although he’s recently betrothed himself unemotionally to the daughter of a political ally.
I’m not normally keen on the overworked trope of the Great Misunderstanding, but the author here makes it more credible than most such scenarios. There’s one major flaw in the logic, though. Lilly married her dead sister’s husband (a baron), a union frowned on by the church, because when a man and woman marry, they become ‘one flesh’. This means that her sisters are theoretically his sisters too, so a marriage to the deceased wife’s sister becomes incestuous. In theory. In practice, this was such a pragmatic solution to the problem of a widower with children that it actually happened quite a lot. One of Jane Austen’s brothers did exactly this. And, contrary to the statements in the books, such marriages are not illegal. It’s far, far more complicated than that. Such a marriage was voidable. That meant that it was perfectly legal until someone challenged it, at which point it became void, the marriage no longer existed and any children were rendered illegitimate.
That uncertainty made it unlikely in the extreme that any responsible nobleman would contract such a marriage because of the risk that a male heir might be suddenly disinherited. On the other side of the coin, no responsible father would push his daughter into such a union, either, because of the risk that she would be left without the protection of a husband. It would be disastrous. The whole premise of the book is that Lilly’s father persuades her to marry for security, when in fact he was putting her into a very uncertain and potentially ruinous situation.
That aside, the question of whether such a marriage would be scandalous is an interesting one. Lilly’s baron husband would have been listed in Debrett’s Peerage, together with the names of both his wives, so the matter could hardly be kept secret. It wasn’t a sensible choice for a peer, but I don’t know just how much of a scandal it would cause. These are interesting questions, and I applaud the author for treading in such murky legal territory, even if she doesn’t quite get all the complexities straight.
But this is just the background to the romantic difficulties faced by our two protagonists. Michael and Lilly find themselves thrown together by circumstance, and increasingly unable to keep their hands off each other. Neither of them is the restrained Regency type so beloved of Georgette Heyer. Lust overcomes them with increasing frequency and in a range of implausible al fresco settings. The sex scenes are tastefully done, but moderately graphic, so beware if that’s not your thing. It’s fairly obvious where things are going, but how they get there is always interesting. The ending is fairly dramatic, with a huge coincidence and an over-the-top villain, but I enjoyed it nevertheless, and everybody got what they wanted in the end.
Of the characters, I liked Lilly very much. She was enchantingly natural and genuine, following her heart more than her head but never regretting what she’s done. Michael I had a bit less sympathy for. Considering the position he was in, with his marriage fast approaching, he really was very bad about keeping his breeches buttoned with Lilly. He was constantly overcome with uncontrollable lust, and then swamped with guilt afterwards. Pro tip: feeling guilty doesn’t excuse the lapse in behaviour. By contrast, compare the actions of Michael’s friend Danbury. He’s a very contented bachelor, but he happily agrees to pretend to be a suitor to Lilly to deflect attention from her relationship with Michael, and when things go pear-shaped, he gallantly prepares to marry her to get everyone out of the pickle. That is a true hero.
Now, for those who are sensitive about anachronisms, this book is riddled with them, and the Americanisms are so egregious that I can’t believe the author even tried to avoid modern usage. The one that made me shudder from horror is ‘go potty’ (in a toilet context). This isn’t a British expression even today, and certainly not in the Regency era. I found myself sufficiently swept up in the story not to mind too much, but if swathes of ‘visit with’ and ‘passed’ and ‘off of’ and ‘gotten’ would upset you, this author is best avoided.
It’s actually a pity the author didn’t let a (British) proofreader loose on the book, because if the anachronisms could have been ironed out, this would have been a fine story indeed. The romance and the heart-breaking situation the protagonists find themselves in are examined in unswerving detail, the other characters are quite properly kept in the background, and there’s plenty of angst and deep emotion to satisfy even the most discerning reader. I loved it, and only the horrible anachronisms keep it to four stars.
Nobody’s Lady by Annabelle Anders. I LOVE this book! This is a beautifully written story with vivid characters, and a gripping storyline, that grabbed my attention from the start. It’s creatively filled with emotional angst, secrets, danger, deception, intrigue, adventure, passion and steamy 3-4 flame romance. I love and prefer books like this one with witty storylines and dialogue, beautifully told in a way that brings the book to life, and gives the reader the opportunity to feel and experience the story along with the characters. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I’ve added it to my “one of the best books I’ve read this year” list!
The love story of Michael and Lilly. Lilly's father promise her one season to find a husband or she will have to marry her late sister's husband. She go to London and met Caption Michael Redmond. They fall in love and plan to marry but his father and brother dead and he is now the duke. Lilly's father tell her he does not want her and she has to marry her brother in law. She does and her marry is hell. Years later her husband is dead, her step daughter is now have a first season and she run into Michael again and he is now engage. Can love be rebirth or will all be lost? Great love story.
This author confuses me, she has so many good books yet some are just literally disastrous to say the least, it was hilarious to me how lilly was written to be this amazing rational woman who got shunned by the gods and had very miserable experiences one after another when she was in fact the dumbest most dull and selfish character i have ever read, one of them was how she got forced into marrying her dead sister’s husband and was living with it as a secret as to not cause a scandal because it was illegal, so the servants didn’t gossip? Ok, what about the other very many people who knew? Fucking “hmmm that’s strange” considering you’d only have to think about something scandalous for it to be heard across the continent at the time, and the way pollitics have been attempted to be written into it was very painful and confusing
And here’s the kicker, she was so selfless that she wanted to have a bastard child with the hero just because she wanted something to live with from him, not ever thinking about what a bastard’s life would be or the fact that she already was dancing on thin ice with her past marriage to her brother in law, and the hero’s fiancee was literally so kind to her and treated her as a friend yet the heroine kept screwing her fiance behind her back and acting pained and innocent in front of her, oh and here’s this, she got threatened by the hero’s enemy that he would expose her secrets and she still went not long after that and had sex with the hero literally in oublic in plain sight on the grass, so that brain of yours was panting disgustingly the whole time instead of realizing the danger you are in? Not just her but the man she loves and and by extension what she has left of herfamily, i don’t wanna dwell on how she’s got no spine at all and people just ran her to the floor, she was so dumb and boring in her dialogues
And the detailed chapters of the past were so unnecessary because their current storyline already had a lot happening it just needed the right structuring and a more realistic flow!! there was no need to break the momentum with long explanations about past events those could’ve been presented in shorter pieces across multiple chapters, so the reader could connect the dots naturally without interrupting the pace of the story???
The last pages were so rushed and didn’t make sense and suddenly every character that has only been mentioned in passing started showing up it was all over the place, she squeezed broken engagement, a scandal, admissions, kidnapping in the last 20 pages all together and suddenly everything was ponies and rainbows and nobody cared for anything but feelings and true love huzzah!
The hero micheal, may you grow some fucking balls and brain cells because the amount you spoke about honor equaled the amount you fucked lilly
Literally nothing saves this story except maybe for that weird ass dog who kept barking at the hero which mid story suddenly disappeared btw, that motherfucker knew something was up
I was gifted (and I do mean gifted) with an ARC of this book without being asked to leave a review but I felt compelled to do so. I read more than 100 books/year and in most cases I have to refer to the description of the book to remind myself what that book was about. It won't be necessary in this case. This book is one of my favorites! It's one of those stories you'll remember long after 'The End'.
In most cases an author gives you a brief description of the Hero/heroine's past to fill in their story. This author has written two novels at the same time and has woven their past perfectly in sync to what was currently happening. I was amazed that she could flip back and forth the way she did so the reader misses NOTHING between the decade before and the current time (well, Regency time).
The story begins with a love so passionate you nearly believe you're reading the HEA at the beginning. But sometimes fate can be fickle and the mind plays tricks on them into believing the worst and sadly, in this case, they're forced to move on.
This book was well plotted, well thought out, had lovable characters, and keeps your attention throughout. It's one of those story's that will tug at your heartstrings until you can return to it. I would rate this book ten ********** stars if I could and I promise anyone that reads it will be transported the same way I was.
What an amazing touching story! I LOVED Micheal and Lily they’re love was the kind that happens once in a lifetime a whirlwind courtship that unfortunately never resulted to marriage, with the intention of asking her father’s permission to marry her. Lily was given an ultimatum ....one season to find a husband she’ll love if she doesn’t she would marry her deceased sisters husband (oh the scandal) Micheal Redmond the second son of the Duke of Cartland is summoned home the unfortunate death of his father and brother have him delayed and Lily is coerced into marrying the Baron Beauchamp and a life of misery, loneliness and abusive husband. But the fates are smiling, Lily and Micheal are thrown together again and old feelings and hurts are exposed. Micheal is to wed Lady Natalie but he can’t stop thinking and his heart can’t stop beating for Lily because for him it’s always been Lily. When Lily is kidnaped and her life in danger Micheal knows that he will do anything to bring back the woman he’s always loved, even the scandal of a broken betrothal! A fast paced heart wrenching emotional story that grips your attention until the very last page. I highly recommend this sensational story Annabelle Anders truly has the gift of bringing her characters to life.
I received a complimentary copy from the author this is my unbiased opinion.
AWESOME!! Nobody’s Lady by Annabelle Anders is book 1 in Lord Love A Lady series. This is my first book of Annabelle’s that I have read and it will not be the last. Oh how I enjoyed this story of going back and forth through time when it just doesn’t seem like the right time for love. Nobody’s Lady held me captive from the first page to the last and the well drawn characters easily come to life and captures the era in which the story is set. I cannot wait for more of this series, although this book can be read as a standalone. The descriptions are so vivid and clear you can picture it all in your mind. Can you tell I loved this book? This story has a long lost love, misunderstandings, death, abuse, a wicked step daughter, cruelty, an illegal marriage, politics, trust, rescue, broken promises, determination, evil, highway robbers, madness, kidnapping, theft and so much more. I cannot say enough about this book and I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed.
Travel back in time to 1824 London, England with Michael Redmond, the 8th Duke of Cortland, Lady Lilly Bridge Beauchamp and her Dachshund, Miss Fussy into the past and the present.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is a book well worth reading. I have been reading historical romances most of my life. Annabelle Anders books are reminiscent of the old great historical authors. The story flows, the characters are believable and real. Actually making you want to slap a couple of them. lol This one is a young love promised then abandoned. Then 9 yrs later revisited. Problems family's can cause that change the course of peoples lives and woven throughout, a one constant in Lillie's life is her beloved dachshund Miss Fussy. I highly recommend this book. As a disclaimer I received an ARC of this book. The review is completely mine.
Annabelle Anders writes another spicy, romantic story of love lost and found. Michael and Lilly were once young and in love, planning their future together. When fate intervenes and Lilly marries another man, while Michael becomes a Duke who is engaged to his match, will they be able to rekindle the flame when they meet again almost 10 years later?
Gripping....playful......heart warming.....mesmerizing.....and a little suspenseful....
With great pleasure, I leave this review for Nobody's Lady!
A story of second chance love...... or is it.....
Ms. Anders draws the reader into this mesmerizing story line from the first page. The story set in 1824 in London, England or there about. The Duke of Cortland, Lord Michael Redmond is about to run into the love of his life after his carriage was held up at gunpoint, leaving him with nothing but the clothes on his back. Seeking rest and refuge in an inn after walking for hours in the rain with his coachman and footman; the Duke attempts to get rooms for himself and his servants on his own recognizance. The Inn Keeper not believing his story refuses to provide a room to the Duke, when the beautiful woman from his past suddenly appears and vouches for him with the Inn Keeper. Yes, the Baroness, Lady Lilly Beauchamp comes to the Duke's aid.....
From this point, the story line weaves back and forth between 1815 to the present 1824. Ms. Anders draws the reader in and provides a detailed account of how the two first met and how they ended up going their separate ways, although, neither wanted it to end that way.... In the end, the history of the Lilly and Michael's acquaintance only adds more intensity of emotion and understanding as to how they met and grew apart.
This story has depth as far as the plot is concerned and the characters are well developed and insightful, not to mention lovable. Lilly ends up being a valuable asset to the Duke, as she helps him decipher a plan to retrieve his carriage and personal belongings that was stolen from him on his travels to London. There is much heartache and frustration, as the two engage in becoming acquainted once again. Will the two be able to rekindle their deep love and affection for one another? Or will Lady Beauchamp endure more pain and suffering, while the Duke settles for the next best thing?
This is the first book in a series and I look forward to the next book releasing in the summer. I highly recommend this Georgian era novel. I was afforded an advanced readers copy of this delightful story by the author. This is my voluntary review.
I enjoyed this story. From the very first paragraph to the end, I was enamored of Michael, the Duke of Courtland. I cried at Lily’s life and really wanted her and Michael to have their HEA.
I do not believe I will ever be able to see peach blossoms again without thinking of Michael and Lilly’s story! Such a heartwarming book complete with young love, lost chances, heartache, and new beginnings. Loved it!
Michael Redmond, the Duke of Cortland, is on his way to London when he is robbed. All his important papers are gone as well as his coach and horses. He has to walk miles to the nearest town to stay at an inn for the night. Michael cannot believe his eyes when he runs into an old flame there, one he has not been able to forget.
Lilly Beauchamp has not seen Michael since he abandoned her all those years ago. She has never gotten over him or his betrayal, but she has never been able to quit loving him. Lilly aids Michael in getting a room as well as retrieving his valuable items. It is during this time they become close again and Lilly and Michael realize that they both were in the wrong in the past. Can they forgive and forget? Could this be their second chance at love?
NOBODY'S LADY... a beautiful cover, a beautiful synopsis, a beautiful story! Both hero and heroine are in for a rude awakening. They both thought they had let the past go, but turns out some things are just not meant to be forgotten. I love that Michael and Lilly get their second chance. Both kind of let one another down in the past, but outside circumstances brought it all about. Lilly and Michael had many struggles and things that got them down that they had to overcome to become the person they are today. Both are stronger people for it and willing to fight for what they really want. NOBODY'S LADY really tugged at my heart strings. I will be patiently waiting for author Annabelle Anders next novel. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars!
