There’s been a mass shooting with over 23 casualties in Atlanta. FBI agent Blake Wilder and her team are called by D.C. Headquarters to spearhead the case. Upon their arrival to the crime scene, they are greeted with hostility by the field officers present. Unfazed by the tension, Blake begins to sort through the identities of many victims, most of them high profiled lawyers. While attempting to identify a motive, the team sorts through the deceased lawyers' case files.
Soon after, Blake realizes that the footage and evidence regarding this case has gone missing. And this case now leads to a dead end.
All is seemingly hopeless until a crucial lead points to one undeniable truth.
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
I really do love this series. Sometimes it seems too disjointed to me and that's what happened to this book. Elle Gray takes time to describe people's features and clothing but misses out on parts of the investigation that surely must be incurring. It's a good book and fun series. The books are less than 300 pages. You can sit down with it the morning and finish before bed.
Every Blake Wilder book I read ends up with me staying up until all hours to read it. I love this series and the camaraderie between her and her team is refreshing. I love the sense of humor always injected into every book. One of my all time favorites!
This is another FBI thriller you won’t want to miss. A mass killer who walks away and the motive is confusing. Even when Blake Wilder is called in to solve the mystery, she not only is trying to solve it, she is also fighting against inner agency politics and power struggles. You will not want to put this book down!!!

This was another intense, complex, and intriguing case in the aftermath of a horrific tragedy. However, there's even more going on behind the scenes, and it seems like only Blake and her awesome team are the only ones who care about finding the truth. It's certainly a story that you won't want to miss! I really hope that there will be many more stories in this amazing series! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
Um um what a glorious tale. the ride with Wilder is full of greed, back stabbing, and weird reasons for mass murder
Wilder’s team is sent to Atlanta to take over the lead in a mass murder of the towns lawyers. She is hobbled from the start by local FBI Agents losing files and backing the wrong leads. Her team blasts through the shit and prevails only to make a couple more backstabbing enemies. Par for the course with Wilder. Always keeps you on edge trying to figure what next.
A Motive to Kill(Blake Wilder Mystery Thriller Book 22)
OMG!!!!!!!!! This book was beyond amazing. I could not put it down. First Blake gets sent to Atlanta, to solve a mass shooting in a nightclub. When she gets there, the SAC doesn't like her and is doing everything to derail her investigation. Secondly she has the deputy director of the FBI pushing her to solve this and bring down the SAC of the Atlanta field office, because it seems he might be dirty. It is chaos, but her team gets it done.
Blake and her team are the best at what they do, bringing justice to murder victims. This time they are asked to by the Deputy Director to investigate a mass shooting in Atlanta, GA. We follow the investigation, the political intrigue and the always tenacious Blake as she pieces together the clues to find the responsible party. Love these characters, another great read from the talented Elle Gray.
Elle Gray is a master at building the suspense. When her team is sent to Atlanta, GA to investigate and find the shooter in a mass killing they encounter another FBI Agent who is intent on closing the case as fast as possible. He doesn't seem to care if they get the right person or not. During the investigation he manages to push Blake's buttons enough that she loses her cool with him. It just adds to the problem as he outranks her. I felt this one is one of the best of the series.
The author successfully writes another continuation of her Blake Wilder series. With an exceptional storyline and interesting characters that make her stories more compelling and engaging, Elle Gray continues to make her readers thirsty for more of Blake Wilder. Can’t wait for the next series.
Another twisted, page turner! The team goes to Atlanta to investigate a mass shooting in a bar for attorneys only. High profile people are pushing Blake & her team to move on not to investigate a pharmaceutical company. The head of the FBI for Atlanta doesn’t want her team there & tries to hinder her investigation!
Love the Blake Wilder series. There have only been a couple of books out of the series I could take or leave. This one was great, action packed. I didn't really care for the political stuff but I guess you can't really escape politics one way or another these days. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good thriller.
I really do dive into these stories, the coming together of the cases and the crap that Blake always endures from what should be her team as they are all law enforcement. I try to think that is it only for the sake of these books/stories but my heart tells me that in real life, politics and power do exactly this.
Elle Gray puts so many twists and turns in her stories. This is another one that captured my attention from the beginning. I love how she develops the characters to be so interesting, and carries them from book to book. I hope Charlie comes to her unit. Always looking for her next release.
I read this book in 1 day. It was amazingly hard to put down; luckily, I started on a Saturday night, so had all day Sunday to finish. I love the characters; they are very well defined and interact well. The plot was complex but well defined and is tied up nicely in the end. Well worth reading.
This one is my favorite of this series! Surprising twist and turns with an ending you don't expect! Solving cases while trying not to be destroyed by political games will Blake be able to do both, or will the enemy succeed?
I've read all the books in this series, and given many of them five stars, including this one. The writing is excellent, and the characters are very likeable. And the story line is very appropriate for our times. Highly recommended - and I can't wait until the next one in this series!
This series is one of my absolute favorites in Ms. Gray's extensive and outstanding catalog of thrillers, and Blake Wilder and her cronies are delightful. I love the humor in the banter between them; their friendship and laughter bring a lightness to stories that often contain dark, grim realities.
Oh, and Elle is amazingly prolific, too, with several other well-written and compelling thriller and mystery series, and a constantly expanding catalog. Brava!
Blake and her team are sent to unravel the reason behind a mass shooting at an exclusive attorney’ club - and covertly observe the local Special Agent in Charge.
I loved this book. I could not put this book down. This book is full of suspense! This is one of the best books I have read in awhile. Can"t wait for the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book and series. Great book.
An excellent story that keeps you turning the pages to follow all of the threads to unravel them all. But are they really all straight yet? Hmm. I for one am waiting to see what hornets nest Blake has stirred up for herself!
This book was a great read. It was so so good and how things turned out was not what I expected I was in hopes they would get the killer to come out and take his punishmeng
As a police procedural fan, I enjoyed this story overall, but had some questions about procedures as presented. Author withheld information about unusual number of bullet wounds sustained by specific victims, plus where concentrated anatomically. 3.5 stars, bumped up to 4.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
While I love the Blake Wilder series, this one was special in that its conclusion will spark many more unanswered questions and political danger for Blake. I like the tin foil hat references and I can don my own while enjoying the series!
Another outcome I didn't see coming. I love her writing and her knowledge. She makes it feel like the reader is there every step of the way. Number 23 here I come!!
The motive to kill had so many twist and turns. Just when you think the story has found its culprit, Blake Wilders mind will not turn off. You will be surprised of the grand finale ! Blake never disappoints
