“Men with Adult ADHD” offers an insightful exploration into the challenges and experiences of living with adult ADHD. As someone who suspects to may have ADHD, I found the book to be a deeply validating and enlightening experience. The author captures the often misunderstood nuances of ADHD, making me feel truly understood for the first time.
The book goes beyond simply defining ADHD; it delves into practical strategies for managing symptoms and emphasizes what truly matters when dealing with this condition. It provides useful tips and techniques for improving focus, motivation, and overall life management. The emphasis on real-world application makes it a valuable resource not only for those with ADHD but also for anyone struggling with related symptoms, such as difficulty with motivation or attention.
However, it’s important to note that while the book offers valuable insights and advice, it is not a substitute for professional help. It doesn’t replace the expertise and personalized guidance of a therapist or doctor, which are crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Overall, I highly recommend “Men with Adult ADHD” to anyone looking to understand ADHD better, whether they are experiencing it themselves, know someone who is, or are simply interested in the topic. It serves as a compassionate guide to navigating the complexities of adult ADHD, providing both understanding and practical support.
Highly understandable with lots of practical, real-world advice
I picked up this book because I have a friend who has always been a little … distracted. Turns out he has ADHD. I got this book to understand a bit more and help him and got a lot more than I expected. Likely because it is written by someone who has it rather than by some scientist or doctor, all of the information felt real and was very easy to understand. The practical exercises and explanations are highly correlated to the issue or symptom being experienced by the person with ADHD. It’s a really good book. If you are looking to learn more about it and what to do about it (whether its for you or someone you know) this is a great place to start.
I bought this as it looks like another male friend is going to be diagnosed with ADHD at an age of nearly 50. I wanted to get a better understanding of the condition myself to see how I can help and maybe recommend a few books to others that are dealing with this at the moment. The author has split the advice into 6 sensible chunks and it is well laid out. I think this has been a good introduction to the subject for me and there are a couple of things in there that I need to be mindful of myself, even though an ADHD diagnosis is unlikely for me.
Calvin did a good job with this book. The most important takeaway is the part about emotional regulation. You have to move past your feelings, to slow down and address your racing thoughts.
This book has a good combination of theory and strategies to support anyone with ADHD, not only males. The way it is written is also very nice and simple so an easy read!
good book. helps clear up misunderstandings and breaks down ADHD into its numerous facets. subjective as to whether this is good or bad, but didn't go in depth. rather, it was realistic and relatable. gave good advice and places to start alleviating, working with, and improving ADHD symptoms
