Mara Adkins, a promising fashion designer, has fallen off the ladder of success, and she can’t seem to get up.
In college, Mara and her sorority sisters played an ugly game, and Mara was usually the winner. She’d date men she considered geeks, win their confidence, and then she’d dump them publicly. When Mara begins work for a prestigious clothing designer in New York, she gets her comeuppance. Her boyfriend steals her designs and wins a coveted position. He fires her, and she returns in shame to her home in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where life for others has changed for the better.
Mara’s parents, always seemingly one step from a divorce, have rediscovered their love for each other, but more importantly they have placed Christ in the center of that love. The changes Mara sees in their lives cause her to seek Christ. Mara’s heart is pierced by her actions toward the twelve men she’d wronged in college, and she sets out to apologize to each of them. A girl with that many amends to make, though, needs money for travel, and Mara finds more ways to lose a job than she ever thought possible.
Mara stumbles, bumbles, and humbles her way toward employment and toward possible reconciliation with the twelve men she humiliated to find that God truly does look upon the heart, and that He has chosen the heart of one of the men for her to have and to hold.
The twelve authors contributing to this project are: Elizabeth Noyes, Fay Lamb, Marji Laine, Jerusha Agen, Theresa Anderson, Patricia M. Dyer, Jennifer Hallmark, Paulette Harris, Betty Owens, Phee Paradise, Debbie Roome, Debra Ullrick.
A Dozen Apologies also includes fun bonus materials that give readers an inside glimpse of the heroes, Mara, and the process of writing a collaborative novel.
Elizabeth Noyes is an award-winning author of edgy, action-packed, romantic suspense. Her best writing comes while cruising the Caribbean, visiting National Parks, riding trains across Canada, bumping along on tour buses around Europe, or tucked away in the sunroom of her home in suburban Atlanta (when she and her hubby return from traveling, that is).
Mara was a "mean girl". After a humbling experience she finds Christ and decides to apologize to the men she hurt during college. Her experiences show how someone's behavior affects others. An interesting fact about the book is that each chapter (apology) is written by a different author.
Loved this book and how each author put her spin on each chapter. It was awesome following Mara’s journey through this painful process. Especially loved who chose her for life!

Have you ever wanted to watch some uppity female get her comeuppance? Well, then, you just might like this book.
Mara Adkins has just been fired, hung on her own petard. Pretty, talented Mara was the one who was famous about stringing the guys along and dumping them in the most ignominous was possible. Now it's her own supposed boyfriend who steals her fashion designs and then not only dumps her but fires her as well.
Mara crawls back home to lick her wounds, and the parents she expected to scream at her instead welcome her back with open arms and love. It seems while she's been away, they went and found the Lord. Curious, she goes with them to church, and you guessed it, she gets saved.
Just being sorry for all those dozen guys she had dumped and embarassed wasn't enough. The Lord let her know she would have to personally apologize for her actions. Twelve pieces of humble pie coming up.
I so enjoyed every single apology - even the one that didn't go very well.
Mara, a "mean girl" to outdo all mean girls, gets a taste of her own bad medicine. In one fell swoop, she loses her fiancé, her job, and her career. Tail tucked firmly between her legs, she goes home to discover her parents have undergone an amazing change. She quickly learns the change was brought about by a new-found faith. Before long, Mara finds her own faith and feels called by the Lord to contact each of the men she treated so horribly in college. She feels compelled to make a face-to-face apology.
Each apology carried its own charm. Some carried more pain than others. Some were pretty funny. As mentioned above, one didn't go well. But fear not, for those of you, like me, who love a good HEA, there's, ummm, actually more than one here.
The theme of forgiveness, and the importance of ASKING for forgiveness (whether it's given or not) runs throughout the book. All around a lovely, feel-good read. Don't miss it.
Back in college, Mara and her sorority sisters got a kick out of publicly humiliating the men who loved them. Now, after a cruel shot of karma, Mara is on a quest to find all twelve men and apologize. Each chapter, written by a different author, features a new man, a new job--and apparently the authors were under strict orders not to make it a common job--and a new reaction to the apology.
Of course, this novel is a bit of a romance to boot, and the final chapter reveals the man of Mara's dreams. This honey was one of the twelve she'd apologized to, chosen for her by pre-publication readers.
The novel is episodic by nature, but it's a goodie. Short and fun, this book is a terrific opportunity to see the writing talents of several authors at once. What a special treat!
When I first noticed the book A Dozen Apologies, I thought it was an interesting plot. When I discovered that each hero’s chapter was written by a different author, I was intrigued. I missed the posting of the chapters as readers voted on who would be the “happily-ever-after” hero in the final published version of the book, but I think I rather enjoyed reading it all put together.
Each chapter has a fun twist as you find out what the hero is up to after all the years since Mara saw them last. You never really know how they will treat her when she shows up on their doorstep.
Very cute , glad she finally realised and forgave herself, goes to show sometimes you have to put yourself first as well as other to.everything will come together given time
