Reeling from the events in New Orleans, Dylan is forced to face the enemy head-on. To save her friend, she'd do just about anything. But when things take a deadly turn, Dylan's actions change the course of events forever.
R.M. Gilmore is a paranormal and mystery/suspense writer and creator of the occult bestselling Dylan Hart series. She resides in the Pacific Northwest with her teenage minion, bearded man-child, and toys still in the box. With an awkward and incessant sense of humor, it is likely she will die laughing.
"Star-crossed lovers and dead things. It's what I do." - R.M. Gilmore
I straight up loved this book. There was so much going on the story was constantly moving so you didn't have a chance to get bored in between big scenes, because everything felt like a big scene. I honestly did not want to put this down for anything for fear that I would miss something important. With the non stop action I started to feel like Dylan, anxious and a teeny bit scared. OK so maybe not exactly like Dylan but close enough.
One of my favourite things about this book? The addition of Mike. I know he has featured in all of the books so far, but he doesn't get much page time. Until Sacrifice. As much as I like the underwear model that is Cyrus Attosa, there is just something about the manly man that is Michael Peterson and it makes me want to b!tch slap Dylan and make her realise this awesome guy (sure he has flaws) is sat waiting for her.
Like the earlier books in this series there are a few twists and unexpected turns and events that will keep you guessing until the very end (and beyond).
WOW! JUST FUCKING WOW! I am so blown away right now I don't really know what to say. I can't really say much without giving away the story but I will say these few things.
After finally making it through her endless night Dylan has another one to endure. The majority of this book takes place over a 24 hr period. she doesn't sleep during that either but she does get knocked out.
when she finally makes it back from NOLA only to have been chased down metaphysically and chased and tortured by Azelie. On top of this Mike and Cyrus are having a cock-off trying to stake their claim on Dylan when news comes that Tatum is missing. Dylan refuses to let Cyrus go rescue Tatum without her. neither mike nor cyrus want her going but mike will be damned if dylan goes off alone with cyrus headed toward trouble without him. we do finally find out what happened between her and mike and why dylan seems to tick the way she does. the three of them return to NOLA facing enemies they didn't know they had in the hunt for Tatum.
vampires, magic, and voodoo....Ooooh myyyyy.....was that a decapitated head? with questions answered and more thrown out there we are once again left with a what the fuck just happened here and when do I get more?!?!
RM Gilmore lady you just keep getting better with every book. with every installment you've taken us deeper, your writing has gotten darker and at times the poetic feel I get from it just takes my breath away. loooooved loooooved looooooooved sacrifice and I couldn't see it written any other way! brav-fucking-o woman! *mwah*
I have had the privilege of reading Sacrifice before it is actually published and thought it was awesome!!!! Ms. Gilmore forces the reader's mind into the world of the occult. What do you believe, what is real? Who are friends and who are foes? Those are some of the questions you will have to ask yourself. New Orleans is filled with dark secrets and when you put yourself in the middle of them, you better keep a good head on your shoulders, you'll need it. Come on, join us on this ride, I dare you!
I have been waiting for this book! I have had the pleasure of getting as ARC before it comes out in February! I knew there would be twists and turns but I was in awe of how everything came together!
First let me just say I love having a strong female character! Dylan Hart is everything real that a woman can be. She is smart, sassy, has a wicked mouth on her, is her own person, she is not scared to be who she is, she can admit when she is a dumb ass and she owns her own butt sweat!
I really want nothing more than to spill all the juicy details of this book but I just won't do that! You have to read it for yourself!
I can tell you this though, things change, people change and you won't believe what happens from one page to the next. I truly felt myself gritting my teeth and wishing I could climb into the book and start a fight of my own.
If you have read the first 2 books than you must know that this book is going to rock your world. If you haven't read the first 2 books then you really need too.
OMFG... I loved the first 2 books. this book beats them completely. it is no stop throughout the entire book. i had a really hard time putting this one down. it is oh so good. dylan goes through more mind blowing shit in this one. A MUST READ!!!! i really hope their is more in this series. Awesome job RM Gilmore.
Dylan Hart isn't your typical heroine. She isn't a skilled fighter. She's a self-described "fat-ass" and has a mouth that is constantly getting her into trouble. In a genre where most of our leading ladies are tall, beautiful, and can ram a dagger through a heart in the blink of an eye, Dylan Hart doesn't have all the answers and regularly makes mistakes that she has to pay for, sometimes in horrific and painful ways. I applaud the author for giving us a character who behaves as most of us probably would if thrown into these situations. Although, it's always fun to live vicariously through the uber-fighting, supermodel characters, it's a nice change to have a character that is easy to relate to.
After the evil cliffhanger of Endless Night, I have been on the verge of madness awaiting this book. With such anticipation, would it be possible for the book to live up to my expectations? Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It grabs you by the throat from the opening lines and doesn't let go until the very end. I truly feel R.M. Gilmore hit her stride with this installment. From the sarcasm and quick one-liners to the down and dirty brawls, not a moment is wasted keeping the plot on course. We do get a few answers to questions that have been hanging open from the previous installments but this one reveals more mysteries to explore. I have two words for you- Cyrus Atossa. Seriously, what is up with that dude? The author gave us a little insight, but left this reader desperate for more of his backstory. However, it seems I'll have to wait to get it. Here's to avoiding the padded room while impatiently awaiting book four!
Okay, so I'm going to be totally honest here... I finished the book late last night and really wanted to review it right then and there. But it was past my bedtime. And now, I have been sitting here for almost 30 minutes trying to think of what to say. This book is amazing and I don't want to give anything away (and yet, I want to tell you everything!) So here it goes...
I had the honor (and I do mean honor) of reading this as an ARC reader (see, contests do have great prizes sometimes!) I devoured this book like a fat girl vs a hamburger. It took me less than two days to read this from start to finish. Is it a short book? No! Is it an easy read? Depends on your meaning. What it is, is ADDICTING! I could not put it down. Okay, well it was on my laptop so it was always on my desk, but you know what I mean...
For all of you that have been following the Dylan Hart saga, this is the one that answers questions you've been poking out your eyes to know. Of course, it doesn't answer all your questions and poses even more in the ramp up to the follow up book. Want to know why Dylan and Mike aren't together anymore? DONE! Want to know if Vamps are real? DONE! Want to know if dead bitches can hurt you? Well... I've got to leave you guys some kind of cliffhanger right?
Once again Dylan is out of her element, but does that stop her quick wit and sharp tongue? HA! Of course it doesn't! If you haven't read the previous books, pick them up now (and I guarantee you won't be able to put them down)so when Sacrifice by RM Gilmore comes out in February you'll be ready!
I received an Advance Reader Copy prior to the release of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Oh my goodness! Is Dylan Hart one strong, feisty, determined woman, or what? The answer is yes she is. She is a buxom beauty that has the mouth of a sailor and the determination of a bulldog. She has come face to face with evil that no one wants to ever see. This book is the third in the series and it won’t be the last. *wink* If you have not previously read the first two books in this series, I strongly suggest you do. This story picks up where the last book stopped with only a few references to previous events.
The book is a very dark story filled with evil in the guise of witches, zombies, and vampires. Dylan has gotten herself into very serious trouble through actions that anger and insult a New Orleans witch. Now the witch will go to any lengths to get revenge. In addition to violence, there is also humor and passion. Dylan has two very hot guys lusting after her while helping her locate her missing friend Tatum.
Ms. Gilmore has written a very fast-paced story filled with nail biting action. Her characters are real and flawed. The plot is well thought out with twists and turns on every page. I highly recommend this book with two cautions: 1- this story contains graphic violence, 2- the profanity is extensive, explicit, and frequently just plain vulgar. Because of the profanity, which for me, on occasion, was just too crude, I give the book 4 stars.
I was lucky enough to be able to read this book before it's release. I love Dylan Hart and her tubby ass. Where to start with this review. Wow, it was amazing. She's thrown her fat ass right back into the occult scene in New Orleans. This book picks up right where Endless Night leaves off basically. She has an evil voodoo witch after her. Will she survive it with the help of pretty underwear model Cyrus and the hot ex of hers, detective Mike? Full of twists and turns, some questions answered, but only to have more questions pop up. So many Oh my God moments in the book. I will be re reading this series. It has become one of my favorite ones!! I love RM's writing. I'm already (im)patiently waiting for book 4 now!!
RM Gilmore has done it AGAIN!!! Sacrifice is irreverent, crass, in your face, laugh out loud funny and scary as hell all wrapped in the ONE TRUE BAD ASS BITCH!!! This series is a MUST!!! Grab your copy and buckle up baby, it's gonna be a bumpy ride!!
R.M. Gilmore has truly out done herself in her latest instalment of her sassy Dylan Hart series. To put it simply, I loved Sacrifice, so darn much. My stomach is still funny - nervous excitement I assume, if not I just may need to fart. It is everything I hoped it would be and so much more.
I was left a little shell shocked by the events of Sacrifice, but I think it was an amazing turn of events! How the story unfolds will really impact on the kick-ass heroine, Dylan, massively so and I think this is a good thing. Lots of the unanswered questions in this series are really coming together and we're finally getting some amazing answers.
At the end, I sat for a few moments. Confused. Not about the book, but wondering why in the hell, R.M. Gilmore's series hasn't been snatched up by a big publishing house. It's original, and ballsy, and flippin' amazing.
I just don't get it.
R.M's writing, while fabulous before, has tightened so much. Her descriptive detail especially has become beautifully finely tuned. It really is a remarkable follow up. The author has one hell of a book on her hands, one that you should definitely be checking out.
I can proudly say I cheated I was a very lucky girl and got to beta read this book Ms. Gilmore forces the reader's mind into the world that you can't imagine . What do you believe, what is real? Who are friends and who are the enemy . Those are some of the questions you will have to ask yourself. New Orleans ( I need to go now ) . Secret that are very dark can take you place you don't want to go , I think keeping a straight head is going to be almost impossible . Sit down buckle up and get ready for the ride of your life
For those familiar with the series: Naked Cyrus!! Nuff said. For everyone else: Sacrifice, book 3 of this series doesn't disappoint. Dylan is not you average girl. She is a self-proclaimed fat*ss with a bad mouth and attitude to match. She is always getting herself into all kinds of mess but this time she has two, yes TWO hot guys trying to get into her pants and willing to risk life and limb to help her out of it (the trouble not her pants).
RM Gilmore has done it again. Given us a great action packed twist turning edge of your seat book. I thought the first two were great this one beats it by far. For every answer you get there is another question which makes me happy because that means there are more books to come. <3 Dylan hart and RM Gilmore. Cant wait to see what happens next.
Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, what have you gotten yourself into? This book had me holding my breath, scared, mad and even crying. My heart broke but I so look forward to the next book. I cannot wait to see the path that Dylan takes.
Dylan finds herself smack dab in the middle of some scary voodoo shit. So off to New Orleans she goes again to find the tiny priestess and her missing best friend. This time she’s got Cyrus and Mike with her. Mike is clueless but he wouldn’t let her go without him. Bet he’s now wishing he stayed home.. Honesty time. Book 1 of this series left me feeling meh. Book 2 got my juices flowing and left me wanting more. This book left me a big gooey puddle of emotional mess on the floor. It may take a few days to recover from the trauma this book caused. How? Why? What? I. Just. Can’t. I can’t begin to tell you how much I loved this book. The things it makes you feel are undeniable, the shit Dylan goes through is unfathomable, and how she ends the book is freaking unbelievable! Can I give a book more than 5 stars? OMG it is so good!
I am destroyed. I dove right into Sacrifice when I finished Endless Night, and this book has absolutely gutted me. I am shocked and shook up all at once, I don't really know what to do with myself. After the events of Endless Night, Dylan heads back into the belly of the beast when trouble happens, and does it ever. The events of this book will change Dylan forever, and change me as the reader as well. How will Dylan survive? And it all happens so fast, the entire book taking place over a 24 hour period, that you're left shaking in your boots. Fans of the series really REALLY need to read this one. My homegirl author Tara Dawn told me this one was her favourite and I can see why. It is absolutely gut wrenching. I think it might be my favourite too.
Well, if you don’t like cliffhangers, don’t read this because it leaves you curious for more even after you made up your mind to not finish the series.
That brings me to my next point. I had a lot of fun with the first two books, but this one proved to be too much for me. It was igniting a slow-burn type of anger/irritation within my soul that was not great for my mental state. Moreover, I think I’m ready to move on to a different book. Maybe one day I’ll decide to finish it, but until then, bye bye bye bye.
Also, you’ll find a rant below this. Just so you know, this was written around midnight which also happens to be the time when I’m most likely to get annoyed by characters. Well, that happened, I couldn’t hold it in, so here it is.
Honestly, I probably meant most of it considering how I still don’t like Mike. He’s not even a bad person, but his entire personality makes me mad. I think if he was with someone else I wouldn’t mind him, but that’s not happening anytime soon so . . . gotta deal.
My Rant
Okay, I’m not even finished with the book, but I need to rant. Bad. So here goes.
This is such BS.
Dylan is always going on and on about how she can’t go back to Mike because of his controlling nature. And you want to know what she goes and does?! Makes out with him in the freaking shower!! I mean, what the heck?
That’s one of my biggest pet peeves. When someone repeatedly mentions how they won’t do something and then they go and do it (which is also kinda hypocritical of me, but who cares). So yes, I’m annoyed and ticked off. I am this close to finishing this book and being done with the series. I know, sounds like a stupid reason to stop, but it’s my reason nonetheless.
Also, it’s Mike. If it was Cyrus she was kissing I’d be all giddy and shit, but that’s not what’s going on. It’s freaking Mike. If you can’t tell already, I’m not a big fan of his. In the beginning I was hoping for him and Dylan to get back together, but on later reflection, I decided against that. He irritates the living hell out of me.
One, he’s always trying to control the situation. Sometimes you have to take your hands off the metaphorical wheels and just let things happen. Not hearing from him for an entire 200 pages in Endless Night was a blessing.
Two, he’s so hung up on Dylan. She literally cheated on him the night he proposed to her. I’m sorry, but what?!? There comes a point in your life when you grow up and move on. Move on.
Ugh, so freaking irritating. I really don’t like Mike. At least Dylan called him on it before they got all hot and bothered, but still, I’m not happy about this situation. This was not supposed to happen. If this isn’t a brain fart moment and they actually get back together . . . I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to continue. It may very well be the dealbreaker of all dealbreakers for me.
Since I’m already ranting, I have one more thing to bring up.
Freaking Cyrus. What’s with him? Why’d he let Mike go all Neanderthal on him without fighting back. I know he could, so why curl up and let Mike have his way with him? Is it that he actually has superhuman strength and doesn’t want to accidentally kill Mike or maybe Mike has some kind of sway over him???
I. Just. Don’t. Know.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I guess I can go back to the story. I’ll probably look back at my rant later and roll my eyes at myself, but I’m too annoyed at the moment. I swear, if this whole Mike thing doesn’t fix itself, I walk.
Hm, I guess I’m that person who will ditch a series when it doesn’t work out the way it’s supposed to (in my mind at least). Not proud of that, but it is what it is.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
How is it even possible? I went into this book expecting to enjoy it every bit as much as I did The Scene and Endless Night. What I didn't expect was what RM Gilmore delivered in this third installment of the Dylan Hart Odyssey of the Occult Series. This book rocked my socks off! I was completely blown away with the turns this story took.
It picks up right where Endless Night left off - with headless dead girls busting down Dylan's door, courtesy of one pissed off voodoo priestess, Azelie, and it's pretty much non stop action from this point forward. Mike and Cyrus are still vying for Dylan's attention in between all the drama, and Dylan is still loving/hating every minute of it. Tatum is still up Malcolm's ass, and Dylan is still dumbfounded and disgusted by it. Dylan is still...well, Dylan. Our chunky little smart-mouthed heroine is still just as snarky and sarcastic as always, but what unfolds in this story will leave her changed forever.
As a bonus, we also get a little more background on our resident underwear model and sex on a stick, Cyrus. That alone may have made this book worth it for me, but the author gives us so much more. The further this story progresses, the darker the ride becomes. I was completely surprised by some of the events that took place, especially toward the end. I found myself struggling to believe what I had just read. Not because it was unbelievable, but because I never saw it coming. One scene in particular will have you thinking the same thing, and you'll know it when you read it. A light bulb will go off in your head, and you'll be like "Holy crap! That's what she was talking about." Yep, totally blown away. Book 4 can't get here soon enough for me. I'm anxious to see how Dylan deals with the aftermath of her actions, and I'm dying to learn more about Cyrus. That is one mysterious dude. RM Gilmore, I'm a fan for life. Keep 'em coming!
How do you top the last two books in the Odyssey of the Occult series? With this story right here is how! Stepping right back into the action of Endless Night we find Dylan, over her head, out of options, and crazy enough to jump out of the frying pan and right into the fire for the people she cares about!
Love love love Dylan, poor self-deprecating, foul mouth, no-filter-what-so-ever Dylan. My biggest frustration with her though is almost everything throughout this series has been more of a reaction to stuff going on around her. It’s about time she pulls up her big girl panties and gets ready to kick some ass!
No cliffhanger ending this time around, but you’ll be too busy pulling your jaw back up off of the ground to notice that. Take a little time, have some tea. and then once the shock has worn off you’ll be ready for book #4 - Forsaken!
I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
I always enjoy RM Gilmore’s stories. Her character, Dylan Hart, is unique. She’s opinionated, foul-mouthed, and stubborn but she has a heart of gold
Sacrifice picks up where Endless Night left off. It is nonstop action and continual sexual tension between Dylan and two men (she never does anything in a small way). And, of course, Dylan still can’t keep her mouth shut even if it might get her killed.
RM Gilmore has a great sense of humor. Even when Dylan was in a dire situation I found myself laughing. My favorite line was when she was on her way to kick some butt and she thought, “F***. I have to poop.”
The third installment of the lovely Dylan Hart! and I wasnt disappointed, infact I devoured this book in one night! The story is constantly flowing and you dont want to put it down, even though some parts are emotional to read. I loved how Mike had a bigger presence in this book and found myself very torn between who I felt would be better for Dylan, the exciting Cyrus or the 'safe' Mike!
This book was full of twists and turns and I didnt want it to end! I was very excited when I realised there is to be a forth book, and now just need to handle my impatience.
Awesome Read! I loved how this book along with the first two were full of humor, scariness, paranormal, and sexual tension. I loved how horny Dylan was all through the books and never got taken care of, it made for some pretty funny situations. I loved it when she called Cyrus Cryptic McAssholeton. I felt so bad for Dylan toward the end but you'll have to read why. Very scary and heart wrenching.I still don't know for sure what Cyrus is. Hopefully the author will give me more hints in book 4. Really looking forward to book4
It's been a crazy train since book 1 and I can't get enough of Bad Ass Dylan Hart! She is the baddest Bitch I know lol. Her and her band of friends have taken me on a ride of laughter, weird and well a little bit of sorrow. Book 3 is definitely a must read, but read the first 2 books first! Book 3 picks up with Dylan returning from crazy town and is in a race to rid her life of white dead bitches! Dylan will never be same and neither will her life!
Holy freakin Moly!!!!!! Where did this book come from?!?!?! Amazing so much happened I'm still in shock! This is a definite must read! I can't say one thing without giving away another, just read the freakin book it's AWESOME!!!!
Well shit. This one was crazy. Dylan got herself in a pickle with a voodoo lady. A lot goes down and it gets jam packed at the end. A little sad and pretty funny and some darkness. Definitely getting a little darker as they go. Love this series and Dylan!!
I did not see that coming. So many unanswered questions but I know it's far from over and I'm eagerly awaiting the next book! Dylan Hart is the shiznit!
