Fleur de Lis #2

Bayou Bound

Rate this book
Biloxi Dutrey grounds her jet-setting photography career and returns to Mississippi when she learns her family home, Fleur De Lis, is headed for financial ruin. She plans to save it by scooping up the job of Keeper. But that means breaking tradition, and her family isn't cooperating.

Veterinarian Nick Trahan is new in town and wants folks to stop matchmaking. He won't settle for just a pretty face. He wants the perfect woman, one who believes in family and commitment—the exact opposite of his parents.

Nick rescues Biloxi during a raging storm, but the squall is tame compared to the tempest between them. Soon they experience the backlash from the long-standing feud between their families. If Biloxi surrenders her dreams for Fleur de Lis and tows the line with tradition, will she also be forced to give up on "forever love" due to the hate their families still harbor?

This was the second book in this first series by Linda Joyce. The characters were well developed and the story was a fun ride into the workings of a southern family steeped in tradition! Biloxi Dutrey dreams of the stability of home, Fleur De Lis, and has a plan to make it come true. Good job Linda!

Linda Joyce weaves an emotionally rich story filled with well rounded characters you can't help but root for. I'd love to sit on the front porch at Fleur de Lis with Biloxi and drink a glass of sweet tea while we drool over her charming beau, Nick. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Nicholas Trehan and Biloxi Dutrey’s families have a long-standing feud, and in the South feuds are righteous to the old guard. The feud will have great impact on Nick and Biloxi’s relationship. I understood that Ms. Joyce knew the south when I read the sentence, “a come-to-Jesus meeting”, for only in the south can that statement have such monumental meaning. This is a story about families; family dynamics, family secrets, family history, family manipulation, family love, families that stand against all odds, and the love of two people who can bind those two families back together. Ms. Joyce has a knack for hitting southern families right on the head of the nail. She definitely understands long-standing feuds and the damage they can do. She also understands that times change, the old guard must give to the new guard and new traditions, and time heals hurts and wounds. This story could have had a different ending if Ms. Joyce had not created a hero and heroine that are strong, romantic, loving, gentle, understanding, confident and have the desire to create a family.

Nicholas and Bilioxi do not have a smooth beginning but it doesn’t take long before the attraction is mutual and hot. Nicholas desires a family. Bilioxi wants to reinvent the family fortune as it is floundering; she wants control as the keeper of the family to bring them into the 21 century. Bilioxi will find that Nicholas will always be there for her with true abiding love, and Nicholas will discover a strong love of a lifetime in Bilioxi. The way to lasting love is not a smooth ride for Nicholas and Bilioxi with the old guard feud, the other woman trying to cause problem, and Bilioxi’s desire become keeper of the family.

I recommend everyone come aboard for the ride through the deep south and enjoy an entertaining story by a talented author. It does contain sex though well done featuring two people in love; I recommend the story to young adults to adult.

I received this book from the publisher and Netgalley in return for an honest review.

This is the second book in The Fleur De Lis series and it is wonderful. I love how the past and present intertwine with each other, and also how real the characters are. Biloxi is a strong and successful woman but doubt runs swiftly through her, while Nick who is also successful has a need for answers and a deep desire for a family. For both of them, their pasts have created long standing hurts of different kinds inside them. Yet it doesn't stop them from chasing their dreams and hearts. I loved it.

The Review:

When your past, and the past of your grandparents, intertwines with your life, causing uncertainty and a hope for your future. Yet being unable to let go of the lessons learnt due to fear and confusion. This is a problem that Biloxi has in this fabulous must read. Determined to put her business first and make Fleur De Lis better for not only her family but also the generations ahead, the last thing she wants is romance. After all, she's been hurt enough already. Yet she can't resist Nick, a man she should avoid at all costs, due to the fact of their family history, and also because he makes her feel alive. Always coming second, Biloxi is determined to come first, and to do so she must put all her energy into Fleur De Lis, leaving no room for the man who just won't go away.
Nick is fed up with everyone interfering in his life, especially where dating is concerned. he doesn't want to date just anyone, he want's someone, he can respect and enjoy a future with. Someone just like Biloxi. But to have a future together may be more difficult than he ever bargained for, as it's not just them involved. The past is kept alive and their families are not happy. Can Nick and Biloxi have their happily ever after, or will a their families keep them apart forever?

I loved this book. It was very well written, and I thought it was a great story, with memorable characters. Linda really captures the spirit of the south. I wrote a review of this book on my blog:

and on Amazon. I highly recommend it; happy reading!

Southern family feuds are the backdrop for this entertaining second installment of the Fleur de Lis series. Biloxi will fight to save not only her family home but for the love of the one man who makes everything worth it. Family. You love ’em and in the same moment want to pull your hair out in frustration because of them. While feuding families can keep the fire burning for generations, Biloxi and Nick will end this feud with their own personal happy ending.

Nick and Biloxi were an amazing couple and you cannot help but root for them to simply ignore family reactions and go for it. Emotionally charged, Bayou Bound will keep you glued to the pages as these two lovers work through years of mistrust and family interference. Just how long must the descendants pay for their ancestors actions? Find out in Bayou Bound.

I enjoyed every moment I spent with Nick and Biloxi, and would easily recommend this one for anyone who enjoys a good love story.

*I received an e-ARC of Bayou Bound from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*

Bayou Bound is the second book in the Fleur de Lis series and is about Biloxi Dutrey who is Branna Lind's first cousin.

Book two in the Bayou series doesn't disappoint! In Bayou Bound we meet Branna Lind's first cousin Biloxi Dutrey. Biloxi is returning to Fleur de Lis when an unfortunate incident with a changed road, bad weather, and tired driving ends with Biloxi being rescued by a neighbor she doesn't know-the handsome Nick Trahan. As sexy and interesting as Nick is, Biloxi learns he is "unsuitable" and the grandson of the man who wanted to duel for her grandmother's hand in marriage. Since the Dutrey family as well as all the family at Fleur De Lis are against Nick, Biloxi seeks merely friendship from him. However Nick has other thoughts, and over time wins family approval. The book has a satisfying resolution that includes resolving conflicts of Branna's from book one as well as Biloxi's conflicts in this second book. If we never heard another word about Fleur de Lis, we could be happy with the innuendos presented in Bayou Bound. However, I am quite sure there are many more Fleur de Lis stories waiting for Ms Joyce to pen, and I am waiting to read them.

A happy 4 stars is what I give to Linda Joyce's Bayou Bound. Biloxi and Nick are great together and apart. Nick charmed me right away with his actions and words. He was such a doll. Biloxi made me laugh and like her almost right away. Once her and Nick meet they can't help that they are attracted to on another and can't seem to stay away from each other. Even with pieces of their families against them together, Nick and Biloxi fall into one another until they don't want to escape. The read was sweet, funny, and all around a good time. I always love reading stories that have a thick culture tie to them like this novel did.

This is the second in a series but can also be a standalone book. Biloxi Dutrey returns to Mississippi to hopefully rescue her family home from decline. She finds herself in peril before she even arrives home but Dr. Nick Trahan comes to her aid. After their accidental meeting they realize that their families have been feuding for generations. Their is angst on both sides of their family regarding their relationship. Can they overcome their family and friends? Enjoyed this book.

This review is of Linda Joyce's Bayou Bound (Fleur de Lis Series Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
Loved this book. Hated when an interruption made me put it down. I loved Biloxi and Nick. Maybe being a southern girl myself made me relate to Biloxi's character. Was up till 4 am to finish. A must read. Can hardly wait till the wedding series comes out. Linda sent this book to me to read and review. Wonderful writing drew me into the story and many areas of the story was laugh out loud funny. Five stars.

3 1/2 stars, but who wants to see only 3 stars posted up there, lol? I really liked the family and the southern flavor was there in abundance. I had some trouble in spots where there was a lot of introspection and restating of issues. But the hero and heroine were wonderful and the family issues handled very well. I'll look for the previous in the series!

Linda Joyce does it again in "Bayou Bound" her 2nd book in the Fleu-de-Lis series. Linda Joyce takes us on a journey of coming home, feuds real and imagined...Southern style. Watch how Jet-setting Biloxi and James the hometown Veterinarian battle not only family but also each other. My closing question or request is... Where is my Nick? Loved this book!

I was back in the bayou and I just loved it. I really enjoy this series that Linda has written and this one is #2 and can't wait to read #3. This book brought characters from #1 and that was just great. This was a perfect read for some April showers.

Nothing messes up a Southern romance like family issues, and the multigenerational scandal between the two main characters' families is what really made this book fun for me. A great back porch read.
