This was a very odd story. A small town girl comes to L.A. for an internship and meets a sidewalk musician. I admit I was drawn in at times, but mainly it was weird. Jess is really judgemental with her roommate and calls her skanky. Kinda two faced since she's very nice to her in general. And her roommate is nice. A little immature but still a nice girl. Why the rudeness? This is where I start to dislike the main character. Then she seems to be kinda innocent. All small town girl but has no problems being labeled as eye candy in a professional setting? Paid to look pretty and get someone in bed? If THAT isn't skanky then I don't know what is. Really? Also she was supposed to have come to L.A. on a plane since she keeps mentioning her open ended ticket...but she says her best friend took her to a bus station? What about the airport? what is this mysterious best friends name? Apparently he proposed but it was kinda just thrown out there in passing. And Dylan? The musician? I have no idea what his attraction is. He rudely gives her the finger then later is acting like he is happy to see her? If he's supposed to be brooding he's just coming off as a jerk! I don't get the motivation. This story has just left me confused. I like a good rock star story but I have no idea what is happening here. Book is a cliff hanger. No ending so you need to get the rest to find out what's next. I honestly don't know if I even care. I'm left with more questions than answers.

**received a free ARC of Revenge Vol. 1 in return for an honest review**

I’ve read many rocker erotic romances. It’s a sub-genre I quite enjoy, but, after reading a few books by different authors, it seems as if they all have the same story with new character names. Revenge’s story is refreshingly original. How the couple meet and the situation that brings them back together after that meeting is a break from the usual. Loved that!

Jess is a farm girl who moved to LA to become part of music industry. She’s given a hell of an assignment for someone as inexperienced and innocent as she is.

It doesn’t take long to figure out that sexy, intense Dylan is more than just some random busking singer. He has a history that I am very curious to find out more about.

Rounding out the cast (so far), there’s a skanky roommate, a Goth-ish coworker who tries not to laugh at Jess’s sass, and a company VP whom I suspect should be treated for her sociopathic-tendencies. Basically, every character in this serial/novella was interesting in his or her own way.

This series is a “serial”, meaning the story is not resolved before the book ends. I am usually not a fan, but I can’t wait for the next piece. What's Dylan's story? What will her "assignment" mean for them? So many questions!

This was a pretty good book. Jess moves to LA for her dream job as a music intern. On her first day, she bumps into Dylan busking on a street corner. Dylan Wolf has a gritty voice. I loved Jess' innocence and witty remarks and Dylan's musical connection and mysteriousness. This was a pretty good book for the first in a series it had a hot rock star an innocent girl and the two have hot sex. The book also had secrets that I am dying to find out what Dylan is hiding. This was my first time reading this author this book was well written and I didn't find in errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Intern to Eye Candy in 3 Days

We're introduced to the main couple, Jess and Dylan. Jess is a naïve farm girl trying to break into the music industry in LA as an intern. The day before she starts her new job, she is mugged while watching a guy, Dylan, play guitar. Unfortunately, this seemingly random mugging is in fact a setup by Dylan as part of his way to break into the music industry via YouTube. We leave off with Jess out to win Dylan's trust for her job while questions of his murky past swirl in her consciousness.

Recommend to a friend?
I personally dislike cliffhangers, just because I'm impatient, I was a HEA before I finish the last page of a story. However, if cliffhangers or reading a story in parts isn't an issue of yours, this is a good intro, part 1 of 5. It gives enough to set up the relationship and ends with keeping the reader guessing. I'm interested in where this is leading.

JJ Knight grabs the reader's attention from the from the first page, & keeps it until the last page of the book. A very smooth read, with an ending that left me wanting more. I love the playful, yet intense interaction between the heroine, & the hero. Jessie's innocence is the perfect foil for Dylan's jaded view, & the mystery about Dylan has you wanting to know more about who he is, & what has made him so cynical when it comes to women. I can't wait to get started on the next book. If you want a good read, that will hold your attention from start to finish, then grab your copy today,& get started.

Very interesting book, I couldn't stop reading, and can't wait till the next one comes out. The charachetrs are all wonderfully created, with little hidden mysteries of their own. The little hints into their pasts and glimpses at their secretes is awesome. It keeps the story flowing, making the reader strive to find the answers. The connection between Jess and Dylan feels almost physically real. As the reader, you can almost feel what Jess must be experiencing when Dylan looks at her. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series, wish I had it all right now.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review so here it is-
I read this book in about 2hrs.

I thought that the book started out kinda fast but as I got into it I really enjoyed it! This is part 1of 5 in this series! It left off with a big cliffhanger and a WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT! I think that this series is going to be good if it keeps going in this direction!

This is the first part of a 5 book series.

The first book was interesting but as the story went on in the next 4 installments, I found it less and less believable. Who hires a small town girl from a community college to intern at a music label? When our heroine Jess arrives at her new job, the guy who hired her has been fired and she's put to work in the basement archives. There are plots to overthrow the people in power at the company and you don't know who are the "good guys" in all of this. There's deception, spying, midnight swims, family angst, and music. The series did not work for me.

ARC provided by the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Revenge Volume 1 is the debut release by author JJ Knight.

I have to say this debut was outstanding and I highly recommend this new serial romance. There will be five installments to this serial that will be released within weeks. The reader will not have to wait long, which is a very good thing because the first installment was full of intrigue, mystery, a gritty plot that is going to take the reader on an adventure, a tortured musician, a strong-willed small town girl, and the corrupt music industry. The sexual chemistry between the characters is steamy. Their attraction is obvious from the very start.

On the very first page we meet Jess. She is a small town farm girl who has moved to L.A. to embark on a career in the music industry at an indie recording label. Her first few days in L.A. are not as smooth as she hoped they would be. She has been robbed, received a black eye, encountered a sexy street singer, been subjected to her skanky roommates tryst, been demoted and promoted in her new job, and finally more or less asked to do things she would never do for said job. At times she feels like hanging up her dream and running back home with her tail between the legs. But she is a farm girl, she is made of stronger stuff, and she knows she has more backbone than most people have in their little finger. She is determined to stay and carve out her future.

The sexy singer she met on the street before she was robbed has her interest peaked. One moment he was flirting with her and the next he is flipping her off. And then she finds out that their encounter has gone viral on YouTube. She can’t figure out why. To top it off, her new job has seen the video. They are asking her to do things for the good of the company. They want her to get Dylan Wolf, the guy she met once on a street corner.

The mystery of who Dylan Wolf really is will have the reader’s curioslty piqued. He is more than a random busking singer. He has a mysterious past. To top it off, he is more than under the control of the recording company that seems to be pursuing him.

Add some interesting secondary characters and the reader is hooked. There is the loose, skanky roommate. The Gothic co-worker, who may be friend or foe. A company vice president that is ruthless. A new department boss, a department that has no title, that is a sexy diva grooming for the position of “eye candy”.

This first installment of Revenge is full of humor, intrigue, interesting characters and the beginning of a plot that is going to take the readers on an eventful reading adventure. It is well written, highly entertaining and addicting.

Congratulations on an outstanding debut JJ Knight. I am looking forward to the next installment in the Revenge serial.

Received from author in exchange for an honest review.

I have read quite a few rocker romances and they usually all follow the same format. Not so Revenge. Jess has just moved to the city to accept an internship with a company in the music industry, an industry she is very anxious to be a part of, not as a performer but as someone behind the scenes making the magic happen. Near her apartment, she comes upon a street performer setting up for his next performance. Much to her dismay and the audience's delight, she is the subject of the song he begins to sing...or rather her shoes are...blue...suede. He is quite good...and good-looking. As the performance ends, Jess reaches into her wallet to donate to Mr. Good-looking but is horrified when the wallet is torn from her grasp. All of the money she has...gone. Welcome to LA. Except Mr. Good-looking chases after the thief and returns with her wallet and introduces himself as Dylan. Now the singer has a name. But that is just the beginning of the story. What follows are scenes, skillfully crafted to keep you guessing about Jess and especially Dylan. What are their stories? Why does Dylan go by another name? Who are the two hulking men with Dylan who look suspiciously like bodyguards? Why was there more money in Jess's wallet when it was returned than when it was taken? Who is Susan and where is she? More importantly, will Jess and Dylan be able to trust each other enough to explore their attraction for each other. Revenge is an engaging story with interesting characters I want to get to know. I LOVED Jess' basement co-worker! Although, I really am not a fan of serial stories, JJ Knight has hooked me to the point that I must know what happens in Revenge #2..#3...#4...#5.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well, I was up later than I should have been tonight and will pay for it tomorrow! I am glad I did though! I am a lover of books and romances. I cannot wait to read more about Jess and Dylan.

While the story seems like it is out of nowhere, I love it. It is different. It takes you on a journey and pulls you into it. That is what a book should do. It doesn't matter if it is believable or not. It is a book and anything is possible in a book!

I think it is going to be really interesting to find out more about Jess' past as well as Dylan/Brandon. Who is Susan? Why is the "tiger" so interested in everything that really happened? Why did Dylan flip her off? Where is he taking her? What is the deal with Riley?

I think this is just the start of the buildup and we are about to dive into the details. I love all the characters and can't wait to learn more about them. While I am rooting for some and wanting to smack down others, I still want more!

I think there is so much potential for where this series can take us. I can't wait to find out what happens next. I am not very patient! Two weeks is going to kill me!

ARC: OMG! This book ROCKS, well it really does as Dylan is a singer that will rock your world looking at his rock hard body and with a voice to die for. Jess is a country girl just coming from her little farm in the middle of no where on her second day in CA and sees this guy with a guitar. She waits for the show and he begins to sing about "her blue shoes" and how they are blue like her heart. A lot of things happen in those few minutes of the song, that you have to read about and even after the song that grow even further in the book. But what happens between the two after that is nothing but pure heat. When Dylan finds out where Jess is going to work the next day he is not to happy. Jess isn't too certain why and he is even more upset when she doesn't realize who he really is. And this confuses her more. I love Jess' roommate, self-proclaimed "Queen Bitch" (Hell yeah), Amanda. Naturally, her father is the preacher from Jess' home town, so that makes things humorous to say the least and to Jess' virgin ear so funny. LOVE IT. On Jess' maybe 3rd day of work she is in for a roller coaster ride and I want to find out what the 4u^k...LOVED it!

Woke up this morning to a surprise ARC of this book in my inbox! Yay! Except...it was too short! I seriously read this book in the time between dinner and bed. Would have been quicker but the kids just don't understand "Shh! Mommy's got a new book!". The characters are very real and interesting. I really enjoy the main character's sense of humor. I cant wait to read what happens in the next book.

This is a serial series and like most beginnings it is a bit slow. We are just meeting the characters, getting to know them a bit and the book is setting us up for the really juicy stuff later. I'm not quite sure how I feel about Jess just yet. I like the tomboy and I want her to be proud about it so I'm conflicted. I'm curious about the BFF back home and what the hey is up with Amanda? This is a good beginning so we'll see what's in store next.

The beginning was an okay start if only I was introduced to the characters more in detail. I'm a sucker for rock star romance novels so glad I got an ARC. Really liked this book even though it was a short fast read and ugh CLIFFHANGERS but was warned by the author so looking forward to reading this series. I'm already starting to like Dylan bad boy with tattoos and an attitude but then again I fall in love with all rockstars.

Jessica "Jess" meets Dylan on a corner street of LA when he starts to play his guitar he sings about her "blue shoes" because they caught his eye and she gets offended by the things he tells her when he's just teasing.
"Blue shoes for a blue heart"

Jess is immediately drawn to Dylan although she considers herself a tomboy growing up on a farm and she doesn't know much about guys she's a shy innocent girl but I think that's all going to change later on in the series. Jess has a love for music another reason why she's drawn to Dylan.
"I blame the music. A song can dig it's way into your soul like no other thing. A few lines with the right notes, and your heart can soar, or shatter.Music can make you feel brave, or broken, or both at the same time. this is why I'm here in LA my love of music.Music is the only form of magic in this world, except maybe for love."
"Hearing his voice brings us into a secret place together, where his tattooed arms are always reaching for me, lifting me up, holding me.All is good and I'm safe.I'll never be alone, and my heart won't be blue."

Dylan is a tall muscular tattooed musician who can play the guitar and sing he isn't popular yet but has a secret that puts Jess in a bad position. He isn't a popular musician "yet" until a video goes viral that catches the eye of a music industry that Jess just happens to work at. But Dylan has secrets he hides and a dark side that Jess just can't get enough of. But Jess also has a secret to use Daniel to get all his secrets and sign the company's contract just so the company can have what Dylan refuses to give up "Susan"?

Can't wait for the next book.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a good start to this series. You get a good background on Jessica being a young naive girl moving from a small town to the big city. Jessica is way out of her element and seems to be wavering on if coming to LA as the right choice. I didn't feel a strong connection to Dylan in this book so far but I'm hoping as the series continues you learn more about him and get that yummy music book boyfriend attachment. I would recommend this read and look forward to the next installment. Stop reading now if you don't want spoilers.. :)

Jessica is a young self proclaimed tomboy. She has just recently moved to LA from a farm to be an intern at a smaller Music label. On her first day in LA Jessica is walking around her neighborhood and spots Dylan Wolfe playing music on the streets. While playing a song inspired by Jessica's shoes there is a connection between them. As a small crowd gather around to listen Jessica is mugged. Dylan jumps into action and chases after her attacker. Later you find that when Dylan returns with her wallet there is more money in it than before. This all makes sense after you find out the mugging was a set up and all caught on camera to further Dylan’s aspirations in the music industry. Jessica's first day at her interning job she is quickly asked to the VP's office. The video of her w/ Dylan on the streets has gone viral and Maggie (VP) wants Jessica to start a relationship with Dylan to get him to come to their label. Jessica is quickly moved to the Music Labels "eye candy" team to prepare her to get Dylan on board. Her first "business encounter" w/ Dylan is rather confusing, she has no clue what she's walking into and finds out quickly that Dylan is not who she thought he was. There is a lot left up in the air in this first installment as the meeting w/ Dylan ends badly and Jessica runs after him. After a brief discussion, Dylan asks her to come w/ him so he can show her something. The installment ends w/ Jessica agreeing and driving off w/ Dylan.

From dust to dolled up in three days.

***I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.***

My main reason for only giving this three stars is because it is the first of five parts. To me, a good portion is fluff... from the skanky roommate to the security guards at her new job to the vice-president. I found myself asking just how important is the skanky roommate to the story?

This story opens with Jess on her second day in Los Angeles. Why is she out there? To start an internship at a Music company that stars with an M. She finds a street performer that she is attracted to immediately. She gets mugged at the end of his performance, he chases after the guy while she broods about and wonders if he gets hurt.

She starts in the archives of her new job the next morning and gets send up to see the vice-president, gets questioned about the guy in the video that is going viral and gets sent right back down to archives to finish out the day.

Day two - as soon as she gets into the office, she's sent up to see her new supervisor and becomes Eye Candy - aka Talent Coordinator... her mission - bag Brandon. Who's Brandon she wonders. She'll find out on day three AFTER she goes shopping on the company's dime to doll up.

Day three - she's late to a 9am meeting at which Brandon is the video guy - aka Dylan. After he storms out of the meeting, she's sent after him to find out where he's "stashed" Susan.

She and Dylan talk outside of the office as he goes to his car. He gives her an ultimatum and then this book ends. You may call it a cliffhanger... I call it bs. I'm not sure if I want to read the rest of the story... this first one did nothing for me.

But because I thought that it built her up pretty well and the attraction she had for Dylan and all his sexiness, I refuse to give this one or two stars.

I think I'll wait until the other four are out to read the rest of the series at once.

Revenge is a great introduction to a 5-part series by J.J. Knight. The story starts off introducing Jess, the heroine of this story. She is a country girl, having just moved to L.A., a little naïve, just walking around and exploring her new neighborhood. When, lo and behold, she comes across a musician busking on the street. The first meeting between Jess and Dylan is electric. From the get go there is a strong chemistry that develops between Jess and Dylan, that just leaves the readers wondering were these two characters will end up in future installments.

From this starting point we are introduced to other characters that we will hopefully see again in future installments. One of my favorite characters was Nick, a disgruntled co-worker of Jess’ at an indie music label. The interaction between Nick and Jess was nice. There was some tension between them, which has possibility of going someplace. I also love the way that music was described.

“Music is the only form of magic in this world, except maybe for love.”

I hope this is a theme that will continue, because I thought it was one of Jess’ stronger traits.

When you are reading this book you have to take into consideration that it is part of a series and that you will be seeing these characters again. After you are done reading the book you are left with questions you want answered, and a craving to find out what will happen next. I know I am excited to know where this story is going to go.

**I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

I wasn't expecting much out of this book as it's the first part of a 5 book series. However, I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to keep me interested and wondering what was going on and why. This is a quick read, a good way to pass a couple of hours of the day.

You're introduced to several different characters and you're definitely left wondering what their story is and what they're up to! Jess is a sweet country girl who is now living in California and has her sights on a behind the scenes music career. Dylan is the moody street musician she comes across and instantly has an attraction too, but his parting gift to her is flipping her off! There's several people with the company she's working for that all seem to have their own agenda and you're not sure who to trust. Not to mention, mystery characters from both Jess and Dylan's past that we know nothing about!

As the first of a new series, there is good groundwork laid out with a host of characters that lead to numerous possible pathways for the story to take. I'm curious which path the author will choose for this small town county gal and the sexy, tattooed bad boy. This book is a good start to what could be a great series read. I look forward to the next part of Jess and Dylan's story!

***I received an ARC for an honest review***
Almost from the first page, this story had me. I was worried since I was told this is J.J. Knight’s first book, but there was nothing to be worried about.
The author paints such a clear story that I was truly wrapped up. I was visualizing standing on the street watching buskers and all the different types of people going by and stopping to enjoy. Jess is young, innocent and ready to take on the world.... she thinks. She makes the giant leap and moves to L.A. to one roommate who, uhm let’s say, is full of entertainment, and another roommate who is on holiday.
Dylan is the cut from marble busker with the hot bod and the sultry, scruffy voice that’ll make you melt just when you’re talking. Imagine what it can do when he sings….*sigh*
Dylan and Jess meet by chance, but they keep bumping into one another. As Jess just got promoted from “lowly intern” to “Eye Candy” on her second day of work, I can’t wait to see what happens on the rest of her third day at work. J.J. Knight leaves us hanging right there, what’s going to happen next? And I want to know. I laughed, I smiled a lot, and I feel like I need to know more about what is going to happen. NEXT PLEASE

I received an ARC of this novella, with the request to write an honest review.

Let it be known that, in general, I am not a fan of the novella. (I'm even less of a fan of authors who write novellas that they pass off as novels. Which is NOT the case here--JJK has made a huge effort to make sure readers know this is a serial novella AND that there are mega cliffhangers. Caveat emptor.)

That being said, this story hooked me quickly & I was really annoyed when it ended, because I wasn't keeping up with where I was in the book & therefore wasn't aware it was finished!

There's a lot of intrigue in this novella--who is Dylan, really? Why was Jess selected for this internship? What's going on at the music company? Even the roommates seem to have secrets. And there's not much background at all on our heroine at this point...what we do know is that she left someone behind who wants her for more than a friend. I much prefer intrigue to angst, so this is a winning scenario to me. The steam is there, you can feel it, but at under 150 pages, it's a feeling, not yet an action.

The author promises a tight timeline for this series, so you won't be kept chewing on your nails forever or have to reread each segment before the next one comes out.

Recieved an ARC for an honest review

I don't really know where to start. This book is kind of confusing. I wish I could give it more stars but can't in my opinion. I couldn't click with both main characters Jess and Dylan. There first meeting starts off okay. Dylan is a street musician and Jess stops to listen to him. She is then mugged. Dylan gets her wallet back but without the money. He starts to act weird and is pissed that Jess doesn't know who he is, then storms off and flips her off. Their second meeting he's all nice to her. Strange. Then I don't understand how Jess acts all innocent and comments to how she was raised with morals, but is interning at a music/record label and accepts a bonus if she can bed and get "Brandon" into her confidences. (Where are her morals with that. Getting paid to sleep with potential clients isn't innocent or moral). I just find the Jess and Dylan's chemistry lacking. I hate to have to review this book as such. I can't remember the last time I gave a book a 3 star review. This is only my feelings of the book. You may read it and love it.

*******ARC provided by the author*****

4 stars. Revenge is part 1 of a 5 part series. It was a little too short for me, but it was a good introduction to Jessie and Dylan. Dylan is kind of mysterious, so I'm looking forward to finding out more about him. And who is Susan and what did Dylan do with her? Jessie seems a little immature, but she's a small town farm girl/tomboy who just moved to California, so I'm sure she's in culture shock. I love the promotion she got on her second day at her Internship…"Eye Candy". And her roommate, Amanda, aka- "Queen Bitch", cracked me up. Amanda's father is a minister in Jessie's hometown. Like I said, Jessie was kind of a prude…"I could probably be friends with Amanda, if she wasn't so profane and vulgar all of the time."

The main reason I didn't give this story I higher rating is because I prefer stand-alones; I don't like waiting for the next book to come out to find out what happens.

Overall, a good story. I just wish parts 2-5 were available now.

Received an ARC of this book today and read it this afternoon. Let me start by saying this book does have a cliffhanger that the author warned us about. Normally, I wouldn't read the first book of a series with a known cliffhanger without the entire series being published. Since the author assured her fans that future volumes would be published within a few weeks, I gave it a shot.

I enjoyed the first volume. I liked the characters and I am intrigued enough that I will read the next volume. At first I was a little worried that the book would be filled with cliches, small town girl meets big city for her dream job, but it didn't take long until we were introduced to some other characters with more depth. It didn't take long until I began to care about Jess as well.

I will read the next book. My one complaint, the book is short. I have the feeling this series could have been better served as a series of two or three books, maybe even one good sized book, rather than five that are more like novellas than books on their own.I do look forward to seeing where this story takes me.

Received an ARC in return for an honest review

That was definitely a sexy mysterious ride. The first chapter seem a little fast paced with everything going on at once. And the conversation opener between Dylan and Jess was rather weird.

My mouth opens and the words drop out. "Should I come back?" That's a strange question to ask someone. The question seems out of context.

I liked the way Dylan's character was portrayed, by not divulging much information and keeping it mysterious.
Dylan's comes out of as a person with an agenda and who knows what he is doing. Good or bad. Atleast he is not clueless like Jess.

I liked Jess's witty humour but I somehow can't see her as an innocent girl. In her head she is a tomboy trying to act like a lady, while she takes up other's advice to be an EyeCandy. She seems clueless and naive not innocent.

There are so many questions that needs to be answered, so I'll be looking forward to read the second book.
Liked the story but it could be much more better.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. And I will say that this is a great way for an author to debut.

Jess is a farm girl that gets her dream of working within a record company. She meets Dylan, a struggling musician, as she figuring her way around LA. Now there is definite attraction when the two first cast eyes on each other. Now Dylan is very mysterious and I just want to figure out what secrets he is hiding. Jess gets an interesting assignment to get Dylan to sign for the record label and her boss wants her to do anything and everything to make it happen. Of course as the story gets really good, we are left with a cliffhanger that leaves me wanting more. I need to know what happens next. As this is the first in a series of 5, I'm sure the author will take us for a fun and interesting ride. Overall, this was a quick and enjoyable read that keeps you interested and wanting to know more. There are questions that need to be answered and I'm very interested to read where this story goes.
