Microbiologist Dr. Eve Shaw is stunned to narrowly miss being blown up by an explosion in the research institute where she works. Even more so to realize the bomb had been planted in her office set to go off during her presentation. Her research is aimed to help find the cure for disease, so why would someone want her dead?
Tactical Police Officer Grayson Clark rushes to Eve’s side in the aftermath of the explosion. Having known Eve from high school chemistry, he is just as stumped over why she would be targeted. Yet as he tries to keep her safe, it some becomes clear the bomber will not stop until he’s gotten rid of Eve for good. Can Grayson find the killer before it’s too late?
In book number 4 in the Oath of Honor series, tactical police officer Grayson Clark has his story told when microbiologist Dr. Eve Shaw barely escapes a bomb detonated in her office. Who knew that Milwaukee was such of hotbed of terrorism and intrigue? Ms Scott has had quite a successful run with the various characters introduced over several series. It adds to the feel that the characters have persistent lives of their own beyond the pages of each book. This is a nice writing technique, and I appreciate authors who use it.
Eve is a medical researcher with a PhD working in a research center. After the first bomb explodes killing a lab tech, Grayson stays close to Eve on the thought that someone is out to kill her. Sure enough, a bomb is found in her house. The action comes fast and furious after that. It also turns out that Grayson and Eve were chemistry lab partners in high school. Grayson claims that Eve was the only reason he passed chemistry. They kind of liked each other then, but Grayson was really popular with the girls, and Eve thought she didn't stand a chance. It's a whole different story now. I think readers of Christian suspense will enjoy this book.
Eve is delayed while on her way to work. Right when she gets there a bomb goes off in her office. Grayson, a former classmate, is nearby and investigates. Finding Eve, he agrees something is going on. Checking her home uncovers another bomb. Then they go on the run. But someone is strongly gunning for this medical researcher. Can Grayson keep her alive and figure out what is going on?
The pace is breakneck and the tone is intense with an action oriented storyline that has good character development and a few kisses. The characters are vivid and engaging. The Christian ideals are a part of the story. This is an exciting Christian suspense romance. Read at least this series in order, but to really get the whole picture, read the SWAT Top Cops series (can't remember the exact series title) in order, then Callahan Confidential series in order, then Finnegan First Responders before this one. All are set in Milwaukee, and the last 3 intertwine! Enjoy!
Not Laura Scott’s best. The woman acts like an overgrown child. I understand that she felt isolated because she was so smart but her personality was way over done. There wasn’t enough background to explain her reactions to things. Also, they need new hotels. Everyone around will know about the American lodge. It’s been used in all Callaghan’s, all Finnegan’s and so far all of the Oath of Honor books. What’s up with the you’all? It’s y’all. If Roscoe grew up in Texas, he’s not saying you’all. I hope it’s done correctly in Roscoe’s book.
Filled with nonstop action, Scott's latest story Grayson kept me guessing who was behind the attacks on Eve Shaw, a microbiologist. Tactical police officer Grayson Clark, Eve's former high school chemistry classmate, and his teammates do their best to protect her from the multiple attacks that occur. I enjoyed the characters, the romantic feelings between Grayson and Eve, Eve figuring out there's more in life than just work, and the danger and intrigue. Can't wait for Roscoe's story.
Dr. Eve Shaw has a killer determined to end her life. She narrowly missed being blown up when someone blows up her office . Grayson is a police officer who knows Eve from high school chemistry class. He wants to keep her safe her while they look for the killer determined to get rid of her.
This author writes clean, exciting, suspenseful stories that keep you guessing up to the end who the killer might be. I have read several of her books and can't wait to read more.
Scott keeps coming up with great plots to spin around the great cast of characters she has created. This one kept me guessing as to the why and who, and I enjoyed the non stop action and suspense as Grayson and his team mates tried to protect Eve and discover who was trying to kill her. Eve and Grayson were awesome characters, and I thoroughly enjoyed the book.
Would not recommend this book. Was very disappointed. The characters were too juvenile to be believable. There was so much time spent eating and clothes shopping and boring love stuff. Kept skipping through hoping to get to the meat of the story.
I have to say this book has been the best so far. I love the characters, which is important in order to love the book. The storyline was strong and kept my interest all the way thru. I would definitely recommend this book!
Dr. Eve Shaw is shocked when she discovers her office on fire and all her research destroyed. She’s even more shocked to learn this was not an accident. And to add to the flurry of emotions and confusion of the moment, one of the officers over the investigation is her high school friend Grayson.
When it becomes apparent that Eve is the target Grayson sticks close to her side as he investigates while also keeping her safe.
