Cute cookbook with fun twists on food that has either appeared in a Pixar movie (e.g. the Twinkies, aka never-expired cake from WALL-E) or is inspired by something in a Pixar movie (madeleines inspired by Dory's purple shells in FINDING DORY). I like the creativity and cuteness of the recipes, plus how inspiration is drawn from some of Pixar's well-known shorts in addition to its movies, However, most of the recipes seem a little boring, and there are a few recipes that don't have pictures.

Lastly, this cookbook would benefit from more careful editing. There were a few instances where a recipe headnote would contain almost exactly the same phrasing of one of the essays scattered throughout the cookbook. Furthermore, the recipe headnote for bao (from, of course, the short BAO) claims that "the word bao translates to 'precious' or 'treasure'--which captures both the essence of the food, and the experience of crafting a meal that's meant to be shared with loved ones". Unfortunately, the word for the food "bao" 包 is different from the "bao" 寶 they're thinking of here. That would be like saying "eating bass (the fish) captures the feeling of playing the bass guitar."

This cookbook offers a wide selection of recipes in all sorts of categories. My complaint is in how it's organized; the recipes are categorized by movies (and era in Pixar history) rather than by type of food. So for my purposes of perusing cookbooks on the weekend to meal plan for the week, this isn't of much use. However! If I were hosting a themed movie night, this book would be just the ticket.
