What do you do when the cards are stacked against you, and the only person you can trust is a hot biker covered in tattoos and dripping with attitude?
After escaping a childhood that would have broken most people, Romy Adelaide trusts no one. Her fierce self-reliance has earned her a university scholarship and a Las Vegas casino job with benefits. She's going to make it on her own, and she won't owe a single person for her success.
Enticed by the casino's offer of a new job in the VIP room, Romy follows the money into a secret, high-roller's world. Too late, she realizes she just sold herself to a mafia boss and his sleazy, rich clientele. Now, the gorgeous guy sitting at her blackjack table--covered in ink and biker leather--may be the only one who can save her.
Bryson Vaughn earned his gritty business sense on the streets of Las Vegas, running with the Devils Aces MC. Now, he wants out of the underground. But his infatuation with the fiery Romy will drive him deeper than he's ever been.
He doesn't date complicated girls. He doesn't really date at all. He's Bryson Vaughn, of the Devils Aces: women come his way freely, and he loves them in equal measure the way he loves bodies in general. But there is something about Romy Adelaide, the blackjack dealer at The Windsor.
He wants her for longer than a single night. He wants to smell her and taste her and lick her and tease her through mornings and afternoons and evenings uncountable, because something about her face says he’ll never be bored with a woman like her. And so, Bryson Vaughn pledges to topple The Windsor, to save beautiful Romy Adelaide from all her tortures...and then he wants to have her, and then he wants to keep her.

Not the greatest book ever but not bad. There was some definite research behind the blackjack playing.
BUT what is this Sunset Strip she keeps referring to? Isn't that in California?? I have lived in Vegas for a long time and have never referred to Las Vegas Blvd as anything other than The Strip. And then there is Sunset Blvd, which has a Casino but this can't be what she is talking about. I totally get taking liberties in writing but it is always The Strip.
3 Stars, Just ok! Hmmmm, ok, I just finished and well this story just fell short for me. I loved the first book to this series but I just didn't fall in love with this book. It started out really good with a good story that looked to be promising but then, it just got too bogged down in descriptions of the "scam" and not enough focus on the two main characters plus the addition of a third, Kellan, the brother where there was some history and that backstory also didn't play out well, at all! I also didn't particularly love the ending as well, felt rushed and not really a good "conclusion" if you will. Yes, it ended in a good place, at least, that's what I was led to believe but just lacked a whole lot as far as a story between them..... I feel bad that I didn't care much for the story but hey everyone has a "bad" day and this story although not bad, certainly was not great for me. I will definitely give this author another shot for sure and do look forward to seeing if the storylines will get better with time. I loved her first book so I know she has the potential for sure:)
Romy, I sometimes like where her thoughts lead, "plus - going by her glimpse in the bathtub - making love to Bryson Vaughn would not be the worst way to lose her last shred of dignity." Bryson he's not afraid to let his girl know how his body parts are doing, "you've got me so effing hard, Romy Adelaide," he said." And he gets so giddy over the strangest of things, "helping her off the Harley's back with a firm but gentle hand, Bryson grinned unabashedly - like a little boy. "You like the bike?" he asked." He's a guy whose open about his feelings, "if it's a woman I really like, yes. Yes. I guess what I'm saying's that I really effing like you." And Romy know how to get her man going, "she kissed the inky imprint of his neck tattoo, tasting blood and sweat and something else spicy and strange. He reached around and squeezed her knee. "Welcome to the Devil's Aces, Adelaide. You're a bad girl now, and there's no going back." he called over the din of his revving engine."
In this book, Romy Adelaide, our heroine is working at the Vegas casino, The Windsor, owned by a shifty mob boss, but she doesn’t know exactly what Lefty is capable of, she’s too trusting and naïve. She’s working to put herself through grad school, make student loan payments for her undergrad degree and just pay the bills.
Bryson Vaughn, of the notorious Devil’s Aces, is sent to The Windsor casino to figure out where they are getting so much “funny money” that is not just coming in from the casino, or other illegal means, it’s something worse.
And of course, Romy falls into the something worse and is in way over her head. The only person that she can count on to save her from this new mess in her life is Bryson. And that is only until Lefty learns of their games.
I was not real impressed with the storyline or writing. This really is not an mc book as the club has very little to do with the plot. The sub plot with the brothers dual relationship could have been interesting however it was the abruptly cut off in the end. I felt various storyline added too much unneeded detail that made the ending seem abrupt, especially as it seems the story is not being expanded in the next novel. As far as the writing many times I needed to go back and retread sections so I could find whose point of view the story was now being told by. This was distracting and confusing. Unusually love multiple povs however this went way overboard. Probably would not read more in this series or from this author.

I have read several books in this series and although Breaking Beauty had some interesting ideas, it just wasn't what I was expecting and not enough "biker" for my taste. It was different to get an inside view of the "secret" gambling rooms in Vegas and what "card counting" is all about but there were just too many "coincidences" and surprise reveals at the end to make it very believable. Romy and Bryson made a HOT couple for sure but so much of the story was filled with such sleazy characters, it made my skin crawl. As always, I do enjoy these biker romances from Celia Loren, but this one was not one of my favorites.
I was a bit let down with the ending of this because I wanted more. And I'm also a little confused about the whole extra feelings that Romy had for Bryson's brother. I'm also a little put out that it did seem like Bryson was just using Romy right from the start so that he had some one on the inside of the casino that could help him. I know he genuinely cared for Romy though and that's what made it a little wrong for me. Still a good read though.
Really not an mc book. More of a college student/blackjack dealer vs. evil casino owner after she finds she's been hired by him as a prostitute for an illegal gambling operation. The H just happens to belong to an MC and went to hs with the h, who briefly dated his brother. Almost a dnf. Oh, and the H wore trousers?! May just as well have said slacks. weird
Well, this is not a MC book, definitely. It's a love story, a scheme to take down one of the most infamous guy of the mob's casinos in Las Vegas, and an accurate guide of blackjack. The characters are hardly developed, and some are worth a try... but the story always kept you on the edge of knowing more.
Loved loved loved this book... the story line is nothing I have read before... hard to understand some off the characters thought process... and wording but that was nothing... one thing I would have wished for was the ending to go a little more detailed!! Great book
I did finish this book, not sure if I just wasn't paying attention or wether the story just wasn't explained properly but in quiet a few chapters I was left thinking I should have paid more attention to what I was reading but couldn't be arsed to go back and re read. It's an ok story.
I'm usually a fan of MC books, but I found this one had very little to do with the MC. It just didn't do it for me, but if I'm honest, I always struggle with third person perspective.
