SPOILERS ahead-
🛑🤢I did NOT like this book one bit for below mentioned reasons-
#️⃣The h is a virgin. Preacher's daughter. Hence , her v-card is an important thing.
#️⃣She is from a really small town.
#️⃣She has a HS boyfriend Justine. They have known each other since they were babies.
#️⃣She ......... does NOT love him. BUT she has STRONG feelings for him.
#️⃣See , the thing is that , Justine is REALLY nice , makes her laugh , respects her , BUT , that ...... that STRONG PASSION that you feel with a lover , THAT is lacking (that's what the h said). He loves her , and does NOT pressure her for sex . BUT , he is ignorant regarding her dreams of becoming an artist , like , whenever she talks about her art and stuff , he nods and then changes the topic of conversation.
#️⃣She leaves the small-town after completing HS to pursue art and to find REAL PASSIONATE love ,her father is miserable and Justine is like , "I'll wait for you forever." And he cries.
🅾The stupid shit that happens-
#️⃣Now that h has left her small town , you would think that she would totally fall for a REALLY PASSIONATE guy , who is all round crazy about her. Totally OTT and stuff.
#️⃣The first time she sees the H , at a bar , he is coming out of the washroom with his pants askewed and a blonde bimbo , who looked thoroughly fucked.
#️⃣The hs friend , Jesse , tells her that he has slept with half the girls in that bar.
#️⃣The h is NOT AT ALL disgusted by him , and feels turned on the first time she sees him.
#️⃣The blonde leaves , H spots the h , and comes at the bar to flirt with her.
#️⃣The h is charmed and all by his manliness (TOTALLY DISGUSTINGZ, LIKE.....WHERE IS YOUR SELF-RESPECT GIRL!?)
#️⃣The h ignores him , because she does NOT want to give her v-card to a manwhore.
#️⃣🤢Although she is VERY MUCH turned on by him.
#️⃣Also , did I mention that hs best friend and the H hooked-up once? Yep, they did.
#️⃣The H is SO disgusting , that 3 seconds after hooking up with a bimbo , he talks dirty to the h , which should be hot but it was SO NOT. He came of as a guy who is looking for a quick fuck , and NOT AT ALL as someone who is lovestruck by the h.

#️⃣When the H sees that the h is not giving in , he shrugs and then moves over to a red-head at the other end of the bar , AND FLIRTS WITH HER, THE PROCEEDS TO TAKE THE RED-HEAD HOME FOR A QUICK ROMP IN THE SHEETS.

#️⃣The h is watching the H watch her. BUT HE DOES NOT MAKE A MOVE TO SEPARATE THE OTHER GUY WHO IS TRYING TO DANCE WITH THE h . HE EXITS THE CLUB WITH THE RED-HEAD.
😡😡😡 HE IS NOT FUCKING CELIBATE AFTER MEETING HER. 😡😡😡
🙄Every time the H/h meet , the H flirts to get into her pants , and she melts into a puddle.
🙏My question to author is , if you are writing a 350 page book , at least make the manwhore work for it.
🅾THE HEROINE-
🤢She's...... DOORMAT OF HIGHEST ORDER.
😟She CLEARLY saw that he is NOT the settling type, and maybe I wud have given props to her , if she would have been a bitch to the H , but like ALL other conquests , she gave in SO easily towards him, HE IS NOT EVEN CELIBATE after seeing you girl , how can you trust that kind of man?
🅾WHENEVER , she feels attracted towards the H , she curses herself because she feels like she's betraying Justine.
🛑But you LEFT HIM FOR THIS EXACT REASON , why WOULD you feel guilty!?😕🙄😑
🅾She has SO MANY mixed feelings , literally EVERYTIME the H tries to get close with her, she starts thinking about Justine , Justine and fucking JUSTINE!!!!!!
#️⃣In the prologue , it felt like she does not love Justine at ALL.
#️⃣But in the actual pages of the book, it feels like she loves Justine, maybe she doesn't , it's just that he had been there for her , her ENTIRE life , that she can't let go of him , even if she doesn't feel passion for him.
#️⃣Also , there's a LOT of OW drama , because Justine returns halfway through the book , and creates drama to separate the H/h.
#️⃣Of course he fails but it's just too much to bear. And it's badly executed. It's literally till the last 2 chapters.
❌❌Towards the end of the book , when the H/h get married , Hs friend Gavin gives this toast at the bar -
“Attention all you ladies, my mate Breck here has
gone and broken all of your hearts tonight. As we all know,
he’s blown our minds and not been his usual panty melting
self the past few months but, now, he’s gone and sealed the
deal, falling in love and asking our girl Emma to marry him
and she actually said yes to his sorry ass! So, ladies, you’re
gonna have to find someone else to make your panties
combust from here on out. Gents, that means your chances
of being laid has just spiked.”
THE WORST TOAST EVER, like........... is it something to be proud of? That he was a MANHO?
His manwhoreness is a ......... celebrated and talked about a LOT in this book , and he is PROUD OF HIS MANWHORNESS.

I firstly have to say that I loved, loved this book!
Meet Emma Michelle Jones a preacher's daughter.
She leaves her life behind to go to Boston to go seek her PASSION! She is also an artist.
Emma meets Breck in a club 3months after moving away from home and it was..... Hate at first sight...
But you could cut the sexual tension with a knife.
Breck is like a serious badass, and by badass I mean BADASS!!! You know the broody type you know has a dark past and a definite man-whore! So that means he doesn't date, or get's close to anyone.
The only close relationships he has is with his grandfather/Gavin/Jess and Justin!
So obviously for a preacher's daughter and a virgin, not a good love
"I will be inside of you, Emma, doing all sorts of forbidden things that you have never even heard of, and you will be the one begging me to... You just don't know it yet".
So he is hiding behind his bad boy persona, but inside he is just another person who life has not been kind to.
So he tries to stay away from Emma, but as we know how these things go, it just doesn't work.
Emma get's into a situation that nobody should ever be in (don't want to spoil it) and Breck is there to save her and slowly he lets her in.
"The last piece of my damaged soul is lost, held out of reach by the angel who has no idea she's shattered the heart that I didn't know existed into a million splintering shards".

I loved every minute of this book, it was so different. An actual everyday girl that you can relate to and go through things with her that maybe a lot of us goes through.
And Breck stole my heart from the beginning. (Yes I know I am sucker for a bad boy) The rest of the characters, Jess (best friend), Gavin (awesome bouncer/friend) and Justin (Jess's boyfriend) made the story even more enjoyable.
Don't want to say too much and give the story away, but all I can is that Karen-Anne did it again. She got me hooked after her Rain Trilogy and now I even more hooked.
So maybe one more thing, hoping the rest of the characters get their own story, as they all have a past that you want to know what happened to each of them.

Emma has escaped the confines of small town living as the daughter of a preacher, leaving behind a man who never felt “right” for her, but never giving up her belief in saving sex for marriage. Heading to Boston to make her way as an artist takes guts, but this quiet girl finds some of the most unlikely friendships that are non-judgmental and loyal. Enter bad boy/business owner, Breck, tall, brooding, handsome and kind of scary, yet exciting and magnetic. Never with the same woman twice, he guards his heart and his secrets of his past. I stopped reading this at 25%. I guess the curse continues bc this book is another in a string of disappointing reads. First, the H is an arrogant prick who will bang random women whenever the need arouses him. There were constant descriptions of how hot he was that I couldn't stop rolling my eyes. Ok, I want my H to be hot but if that is all there is to him, then I'm bored. Apparently this H was a great fighter, successful businessman, and on and on. It was too ridiculous. I never felt like he was anything but a silly character who was incredibly sexy and successful in everything he did. The h was just as horrible. Instead of being turned off by the manwhore, she can't help but be enthralled by him. What is sexy about a guy who takes random women into the supply closet for a quick shag? Gross!!!! Of course the first time they meet she just happens to be wearing a very revealing dress that her friend forced her to wear (isn't that always the case). I didn't understand the H's attraction to the h. Plus, her friend told her to get laid. What kind of friend tells their sheltered virgin friend to have sex like it's no big deal? SEX IS A BIG DEAL!!! It is not something you do with a stranger bc you are depressed, need a change, or are bored. I feel like I'm about to go on a rant so I'm going to wrap this up. The story was supposed to be about a girl who was sheltered and decided to take a chance and live the life she wanted but we never get to see that. She meets a guy who gets more action than a hooker and can't stay away bc he is so gosh darn sexy. Lame!!!

Fantastic! Ms. Stewart does not disappoint with the recent release of her New Adult novel "Ash to Steele". The novel is full of emotional unheaval, erotically charged passion, and fearless survival when talented artist Emma Jones and wealthy badboy Breck Steele meet and become romantically involved. The novel promises to leave the reader thoroughly entertained and constantly guessing if this courageous couple will survive life's most trying and heartrending emotions - love. A story not to be overlooked...

Karen-Anne Stewart delivers yet another winner that promises to hook the reader in when the first few pages of her newly released novel, “Ash to Steele”, are turned. The novel introduces Emma Jones, an aspiring artist, who’s just newly moved from the small town of Pickens, South Carolina to the busy city streets of Boston, Massachusetts. Leaving Pickens is a must for Emma. She just felt that the small town was smothering her and holding her back to what was just within her reach. And, if she didn’t leave now, the opportunities that she had been craving, would never be fulfilled. The boredom and consistency of Pickens would never allow her to be who she truly was. There was just something missing in her life. After just a few months of living In Boston, though, her life takes a big turn when she meets a man that she just knew was dangerous for her. This was an intense romance with tons of passion and intrigue along the way. I found myself turning the pages quickly just to read what was going to happen next. Their relationship was touching and tender when the couple explored their true feelings. A need so desirous and consuming. Breck was a multi-layered and very personal character. Emma did have a tough time reading him, but Breck had a protective presence. He cared deeply for the ones he loved, but he himself was vulnerable to that emotion. Now Emma, she was a kind and beautiful young woman. Super talented as an artist. Painting was her specialty, and it was liberating for her. The reader could just feel her heart within the creations that she painted. And, to portray Breck on a canvas was her one desire. She knew Breck intimately. So intimately, that I loved how the author involved Emma’s painting as a way to Breck’s soul. His heart. His mind. His utter existence. I think that Emma scared him as much as he intimidated her because she could feel him. She knew his secrets, but yet darkness and all, she still wanted him in her life. And that was huge for Breck because he knew what kind of horror he was capable of. How could anyone as pure and exquisite on the inside, as well as the outside, want him?
I was blown away by the intensity of this novel! It was so riveting from one chapter to the next. So powerful. And, just when I thought I understood the substance of it all, the author spins the story in another direction. Amazing characters that drive the climax to an ending of satisfaction. Ms. Stewart intrigues her readers just as she has done in her Rain Trilogy. Breck was a complicated by true character. No lying. No cheating. He was just undeniably direct with his ways. And, Emma’s character was much more simple. She was trusting and honest. But, when faced with fear or adversity, she did her damnest to survive. Wow! This novel was just that good! I couldn’t read it fast enough, but now that it’s over, I’m sad. It just ended all to soon!! Can’t wait for Ms. Stewart’s next book to be released!!!

Karen-Anne Stewart did it again!!! I absolutely LOVED the Saving Rain Trilogy (it was on my Top of 2013 list) so I have been anxiously awaiting her next book!
This is the story of Breck and Emma. What a journey it was!!!!! I loved it from beginning to end. KAS has a real talent for getting you totally sucked in, and quick! The prologue was all I needed to read to know THIS was going to be great!!!
Breck is a total badass! Literally, he fights! OHHHHH a hot, sensitive, i will beat you up if you mess with me or mine fighter, I love that! He is possessive, protective, passionate, gorgeous, damaged and he rides a motorcycle=) Yep my kind of character! Did I mention he is a badass?!
Emma is just out of a small town ready to live HER life, not the life others had planned for her. She was an amazing female lead. She is the perfect match for Breck!

This book turned out a really, really hard one for me to rate. On one hand, I honestly liked all the characters featured in the story. On the other hand, the story had some very jarring moments where I was thrown out of the story because the ebb and flow just wasn't totally refine.
Let me explain.
Emma, as a lead character was very likable. She was strong without it being tossed in your face, and she was vulnerable like any real person in every day life. Her best friend was a colorful addition and seemed to compliment her and bring out the best in her. She had moments where I was like, "GET UP GIRL!" I waited, and she eventually did.
Breck, now, I really liked Breck. For one, he's a 'bad-boy' that played bad-boy right. I mean you weren't gagging on his Alpha and he was entirely willing to change which was very endearing in a lead male in this genre of fiction.
Jess and Jason were, like I said, a colorful addition that complimented the story.
Then there was Gavin... when am I going to get more of that hunky stud? For the most part I was engaged and feeling the story for what it was and I had a hard time putting it down. Then it started to go wrong as the author was writing the 'conflict' portion of the story. First off, this should have been introduced way sooner. It was sort of thrust in our faces and we had to accept it with a whole lot of tell and not much show. I was shown an evil socialite girl. Then said socialite girl did something so totally out of character of a socialite her age that I started to laugh. The author decided that after the 50% mark she was going to toss in as much angst as possible to the point where I was going as a read, "COME ON ALREADY! NOT AGAIN!"
There was one scene of a sexual assault that really could have been the end of it. The story would have been shorter by far, but that scene alone was enough to squeeze my heart and the author could have totally fed off that with Emma. But she added in a series of scenes with harsh violence in order to tell the big Breck past secret that it got lost and it fell flat when it was finally revealed for me.
As a whole, I very much enjoyed this story. I wanted everyone to end up with a HEA and I was rooting for them. I call this a win and I see Ms. Stewart's writing style very much improving from her first release, which I couldn't finish.
I would like to note that this author does NOT slut-shame at all. Even when vile females are being evil, the author did a very good job of handling that situation without perpetuating a vicious cycle for this genre of fiction.
I recommend this to fans of Abbi Glines books, it is very much the same themes and keeps you reading until the end.

Ash To Steele will entertain you as well as leave you with a huge smile for days. I will be honest and say that I read the story three times before I wrote my review. It was that good. Everything from the beginning to the conclusion carries a feeling of swooning that you can't resist but to fall for the hero and heroine. In addition, there is a group of friends that define the word loyalty. What makes a better book than all of that.
Emma leaves her small town and pastor father for a life with passion. Moving to Boston is meant to open up worlds for her art work. When she arrives in Boston she gets close to a group of friends that become like family to her. Jess, a local bar owner, invites Emma to come and enjoy a round with her when she comes across the like of the womanizer Breck Steele. She fights every attraction she has for Breck. She refuses to become one of his nameless women.
Breck Steele reminds me of the song by Britney Spears, Womanizer. When Breck meets Emma something changes in him. That scares him, and his past haunts him too much to get close to Emma.
Ash To Steele has portrays it's characters as being strong independent people. They are the kind you want in your corner. Emma is this fresh character that reminds me of a beautiful spring day. Ones where the flowers are just blossoming and the sky is radiant blue. Emma gives to so many people that in return her heart is sort of fragile. Breck is another character that is fiercely protective, but he is extremely guarded. Emma begins to mean something to him that has the potential to prove to Breck that he is worthy of being loved. Well, that is if he doesn't blow it.
Ash To Steele has a story line with a few sub-plots to it that will keep your attention going. I hope we get to see more of the other characters' story in the future. Gavin's story is the one I am most interested in. Gavin is Breck's right hand friend. You can tell there is a story behind Gavin's haunted eyes. He is actually very funny though, and at times had me laughing in stitches. That is what I loved most of all about Ash To Steele. It can be serious at times than at others you find the humor that this group brings to the pages. That makes for a well rounded story.

Emma Jones knew if she didn't leave home she would feel stifled for the rest of her life. As a preachers daughter, Emma has stuck by her beliefs especially no sex before marriage and she doesn't plan to change that by moving to Boston but she knows if she stays she will settle and she wants passion in her life.

As Emma quickly realizes they will always be adversaries, Breck changes the game and Emma finds a close friend.
Breck doesn't want to get close to Emma, but he can't stop himself. With a jaded past and no belief that he deserves what Emma has to offer, Breck is working through unchartered feelings and he will do everything he can to keep Emma safe, happy, and by his side even if he muddles it along the way.
I thought this was fantastic. Breck is a jerk but you like him, he draws you in. I wasn't sure where this story would go and was pleasantly surprised by how it all unfolded. Will pick up more from this talented author.

This story blew my mind away with how much passion and anger the main characters had for each other. I feel head over heels for the main characters. The Alpha male Breck was just to die for and caring, strong, and very protective. Emma she's this shy girl with with Alpha woman tendencies lol. Anyways the ending for this amazing story really blew me away(not going to share have to read the story)lol.

Really enjoy this romance novel. It was well written and grabs your attention in the first few pages and you won't put it down till your done. Love each twist and turn of the story. Hero and heroine character where great and together a beautiful thing to behold. Great pacing and secondary characters. Started the book and couldn't put it down till I finished it, at 2:30 AM.

I'm not finishing. I'm sure this is a good story but I just can't take another rich asshole manwhore who's heart suddenly opens for the shy naive virgin. And while I didn't make it that far I'm sure she'll have mind blowing orgasms when he finally gets her in the sack after showing her underneath it all he has a heart of gold.

This book is a good ride. I really like the characters of Emma and Breck. I can imagine how great a love story this can be. I could definitely picture Breck as a bad boy, hot great looking soap opera star. WOW!! Emma Stone is from a small town in South Carolina. Being a preachers daughter, Emma grew up with religious values that she chooses to live by. Emma has always been the good girl and has dated the same guy since she was young. Emma knows her life is missing something and she needs more out of life. She decides to pack up and move to Boston to pursue her dream as an artist.
One night Emma goes to a bar where her best friend Jess works at. Jess introduces her to her small group of close friends. One particular friend of hers catches Emma eyes and she is immediately attracted to him.
I turn away, but not before witnessing the most captivating steel blue eyes bore straight through me. This strange tingling sensation takes over, sending electric current sizzling through my body, causing me to feel shockingly energized.
Breck is your ultimate playboy. He's extremely good looking, rich, cocky, arrogant and is use to getting what he wants. He is a man whore who doesn't sleep with a girl more than once and enjoys no strings attached. Once Breck meets Emma he is set out to have her and he simply tells Emma how it's going to be.

Emma may be a good girl and shy at times but she does have a back bone and she stands up for herself and to Breck. At first she avoids Breck and tries to keep her distance. Since Breck is good friends with Jess, Emma is around Breck a lot and he starts to see things in Emma and sees how innocent she truly is. She brings out things in him that he thought died years ago. Underneath his playboy facade, Breck has a horrible past. He has some very dark demons and he uses his lifestyle now to chase them away. Emma and Breck start spending a lot of time together developing a friendship and their attraction between them is growing stronger.
"There's something about you I don't understand,"
he whispers, his steel blue gaze locked on mine.
"I need to understand you. I need to know why I can't get you out of my head."
Emma starts to see past Brecks front he puts on. Theres more to him that meets the eye.
She slowly starts having feelings for him but she knows his past is a mystery and has a hold on him.
Breck and Emma end up dating and Breck promises to do his best because this is all new to him.
Their relationship was intense with lots of passion. Emma broke down all of Brecks layers and found her way to his heart. It wasn't easy and it wasn't pretty. You experience Brecks past and you see inside his soul. It was heartbreaking at times.
"Use me. Use me to get rid of all of this crap inside of you. I can handle it."
Over all the story was awesome! You see two people fight for what they want when all the odds were against them. They overcome so much and become even stronger than they were before.
What I loved most about Breck was he was so protective of those he loved and he would do ANYTHING for them and I loved seeing how strong Emma was standing by Brecks side.

A novel written in two POV that brings the difficult acceptance of two very different souls, but somehow they fill for each other.
Emma, aged 22, leaves her hometown in Southern California and goes to Boston to pursue something more in life. In recent times it was just her and her father. Her years of dating with Justin no longer thrilled her, though he is full of plans for a future wedding.
In fact, Emma wanted the same passion she had experienced from her parents, with Justin it would never happened.
Moreover, as the artist she was, she wanted to realize the dream of becoming known through her work and have it on display in a gallery.
She gets a job as an art gallery guide and gives free lessons to underprivileged youth once a week.
Her friend Jess works in a famous nightclub, Dark Hole, and dating Jason, the bartender.
There, Emma knows Gavin, the security, and Breck.
Breck is a whole different story.
He literally is someone with whom you do not want to mess with. Women throw themselves at his feet and he does not have any attachment with. He is direct and clear to contact them...
“If you want to go with me, then there will be no exchanging of numbers, no second trysts, and no looking each other up,” he tells her nonchalantly.
I watch in complete astonishment as he flashes her a cocky, panty-dropping smile while his eyes remain locked on mine.
“If you want a great night, one that I promise you will remember for a long, long time, then those are the rules. Take ‘em or leave ‘em.”
Emma is shocked to see the cold and insensitive he treats women, but before that, he had already made clear to her that he had noticed her...

The solution was to avoid the same places Breck was at all costs, but how if he was friend of her best friend and seemed to be everywhere? Not to mention that, as a small-town girl, Emma ends up getting in some situations that need help, and Breck wass there to help her.
Emma wanted to fall in love, but Breck was out of question. He exuded danger, and she, as a preacher's daughter, full of Christian teachings, such as not having sex before marriage, she felt trapped every time he was in the same room as her.
The point was that, even as a guy who did not get involved with women who had sex, Breck could not resist Emma's ingenuity. She showed a purity of heart that there's no more in women of the big city. She snatched him completely; He wanted to hate her, he needed to stay away. His past was too dark to contaminate the prissy of her life.
And who said they heard the voice of reason?
Especially after Emma was attacked by a dealer who mistook his girlfriend for a debtor addict, Breck took on the responsibility of look after her; and this coexistence, they knew each other, faced vengeful ex, learned that even the darkest of secrets can't be kept safe and loved as ever.
I knew Karen-Anne's work in her RAIN TRILOGY and fell in love with her writing. The subject of that book was not the easiest - trafficking of women - but she wrote a lightness way and even put a couple so cute, impossible to stop reading .
This time it's a stand alone.
According to the author, as it has certain controversial issues in this story, reading is recommended to mature audience (violence, drugs), but nothing that let the reader traumatized.
The pace is great, with some jumps in time when needed.
The characters are engaging. From the first line, when Emma is leaving her town... Or maybe, since her meeting with Breck in Dark Hole, I thought "the night will be long..." Total Connection!

Emma, aged 22, leaves her hometown in Southern California and goes to Boston to pursue something more in life. In recent times it was just her and her father. Her years of dating with Justin no longer thrilled her, though he is full of plans for a future wedding.
In fact, Emma wanted the same passion she had experienced from her parents, with Justin it would never happened.
Moreover, as the artist she was, she wanted to realize the dream of becoming known through her work and have it on display in a gallery.
She gets a job as an art gallery guide and gives free lessons to underprivileged youth once a week.
Her friend Jess works in a famous nightclub, Dark Hole, and dating Jason, the bartender.
There, Emma knows Gavin, the security, and Breck.
Breck is a whole different story.
He literally is someone with whom you do not want to mess with. Women throw themselves at his feet and he does not have any attachment with. He is direct and clear to contact them...
“If you want to go with me, then there will be no exchanging of numbers, no second trysts, and no looking each other up,” he tells her nonchalantly.
I watch in complete astonishment as he flashes her a cocky, panty-dropping smile while his eyes remain locked on mine.
“If you want a great night, one that I promise you will remember for a long, long time, then those are the rules. Take ‘em or leave ‘em.”
Emma is shocked to see the cold and insensitive he treats women, but before that, he had already made clear to her that he had noticed her...
“I will be inside of you, Emma, doing all sorts of forbidden things that you have never even heard of, and you will be the one begging me to….you just don’t know it yet.”
The solution was to avoid the same places Breck was at all costs, but how if he was friend of her best friend and seemed to be everywhere? Not to mention that, as a small-town girl, Emma ends up getting in some situations that need help, and Breck wass there to help her.
Emma wanted to fall in love, but Breck was out of question. He exuded danger, and she, as a preacher's daughter, full of Christian teachings, such as not having sex before marriage, she felt trapped every time he was in the same room as her.
The point was that, even as a guy who did not get involved with women who had sex, Breck could not resist Emma's ingenuity. She showed a purity of heart that there's no more in women of the big city. She snatched him completely; He wanted to hate her, he needed to stay away. His past was too dark to contaminate the prissy of her life.
And who said they heard the voice of reason?
Especially after Emma was attacked by a dealer who mistook his girlfriend for a debtor addict, Breck took on the responsibility of look after her; and this coexistence, they knew each other, faced vengeful ex, learned that even the darkest of secrets can't be kept safe and loved as ever.
I knew Karen-Anne's work in her RAIN TRILOGY and fell in love with her writing. The subject of that book was not the easiest - trafficking of women - but she wrote a lightness way and even put a couple so cute, impossible to stop reading .
This time it's a stand alone.
According to the author, as it has certain controversial issues in this story, reading is recommended to mature audience (violence, drugs), but nothing that let the reader traumatized.
The pace is great, with some jumps in time when needed.
The characters are engaging. From the first line, when Emma is leaving her town... Or maybe, since her meeting with Breck in Dark Hole, I thought "the night will be long..." Total Connection!

Packing up and heading to Boston, she never expected that what she’d find would be Breck Steele. He’s gorgeous, dangerous, and powerful. But damaged. Oh so damaged. Innocent Emma is everything he avoids, even if she’s what he needs. Emma doesn’t realize that the thing she was looking for might be the very same thing that destroys her…

What an emotional ride! This book wasn’t what I expected; I think I was expecting more of a playful bad boy getting the broken yet innocent girl. Instead, it was so much more in so many ways! First off—forget the playful! Breck doesn’t just look and act like a bad boy—he really is! You know the alpha males that are all claws and fangs and can kill someone with a look if you mess with their woman in paranormal romances? Yeah, that’s Breck—without the claws and fangs. He’s got serious rage issues and isn’t afraid to go all vigilante to protect Emma. The bad side? Well, he knows he’s a bad boy and tries to be all noble by keeping Emma away from him. But you know, being noble only goes so far when you’re being tempted by something you thought you were never good enough to have.
As for Emma, from the blurb I was expecting some broken and vulnerable heroine with a tragic back story. Instead, I didn’t think she was broken at all, despite all the references to her being so. In fact, I considered her an incredibly strong character for not wanting to stay in her comfort zone. I mean, come on, she moved to Boston and worked two jobs and lived in a craptastic druggie filled building to make her art dreams come true. And as for being broken by Breck? She fought for them and although she compromised on some important issues, I don’t think that made her broken—it just made her a partner in a relationship with way more challenges than most. Anyway, I love Emma, although I admit she did get too stubborn at times with wanting to be independent. Accepting help doesn’t mean accepting defeat. It just means you got a foot in the door!
There are plenty of dark moments in this book. I’d call it fascinating rather than entertaining since we’re witnessing a very broken man being painfully healed by a sweetheart that has to take some metaphorical punches. We’re taken into a world where our characters don’t have typical teenage rebellion issues. Aside from Emma, Breck and his two friends’ histories are dark, tragic, and heart-breaking, which makes their connection to each other amazing and compelling. There’s also a bit of religion in the book that molds Emma’s beliefs for the plot, but it’s in no way overwhelming or in-your-face and is needed for the plot.
Speaking of beliefs, since Emma’s waiting for marriage, there is plenty of high sexual tension, especially on Breck’s side although we eventually get some high heat scenes that are filled with emotion later in the story. Before getting to that point, we have to deal with a very mean Breck purposely trying to push Emma away, while simultaneously being drawn to her. I didn’t like him at the start and thought him way too cruel until he started coming around. I was frustrated that we didn’t know why he was so mean until pretty much the very end. Speaking of the end, you won’t find a cliffhanger—you get a full story, and I loved how it ended. Overall, this was a 4 out of 5 for me!

Oh my... Really, Oh Wow!
Once again Karen-Anne Stewart has totally blown my heart and my mind!!!

In Ash To Steele we meet Emma and Breck, as well as a whole host of other characters.
Emma is a young woman who has left home and wants to be independent and make it on her own. Emma's father is a preacher so some of the religious beliefs that she has grown up with have followed her and she still abides by them. She is determined to work herself into the life that she wants, and to discover herself along the way. She finds herself a new home, new lifestyle, new friends and also a new love interest too; who she first meets as he finishes with his latest conquest! (Cue Breck)!! Breck infuriates her with his attitude, but I think he intrigues her too. Knowing that he his a bit of a man whore and a bad boy piques her curiosity as to why he's like that.
Breck seems to be a bit of a man whore and bad boy! But a smoking hot bad boy at that!!! And he knows it! Breck has his pick of the ladies and thinks nothing of picking up a different one each night. He does however have rules, no attachments, no second dates, and he doesn't take them back to his place. Breck doesn't do relationships and he won't let anyone get under his skin or into his head. All is not how it seems with Breck. The bad boy side is his willingness to get involved in fights! Breck also has his own personal demons that he is battling with, but will he escape unscathed when his past catches up with him again?
I love how Emma is portrayed as your everyday girl, she's definitely someone most females could relate to! She seems to be quietly confident in herself, unless it comes to her art work, she's not scared to stick up for herself either.
I love how Breck is fiercely protective of his friends, and he will willingly fight for them and himself. He seems to have issues with some of Emma's religious beliefs; and he's determined to tempt her into bending or breaking some of those beliefs!
There are a few baddies too, and they are very hate-able baddies! I know there were a couple of times that made me want to dive in and kick some ass too! The drug dealer and Liam are nasty and need a damn good kicking! I won't say more on this as it will give key details away.
Ash To Steele is a fantastic book that I have no doubt I will read again! I was totally sucked in from the synopsis, and the fact that its written by Karen-Anne Stewart! And it held me captive within the story right to the very end! It's emotionally charged, full of passion, sexual tension and sexual chemistry. The sex scenes are very tasteful and by no means trashy! There is a little bit of religion contained within but its very subtle.
I have read all Karen-Anne's other books; The Rain Trilogy and I absolutely adored them, Karen-Anne has definitely made it on to my list of favourite authors! (There is a serious amount of fangirling going on over here)! To wrap this up an Amazing book by a completely Amaze-balls author!!
My recommendations for this book are: due to the profanity and sex scenes it should only be read by those of us aged 18 years and over. If you have read Karen-Anne Stewart's other books and enjoyed them, I think you'll love this too. And for those of you that haven't yet read anything by Karen-Anne then what are you waiting for? Go and grab yourself a copy and get reading! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

WOW! To start off, this book was great! It had everything that I love in a well rounded story: Small town girl, Hot bad boy, a wide variety of well developed characters, alternate points of view and drama.
Emma Jones is the main character, she's just your average preachers daughter from Pickens, SC. I love that Emma is venturing out on her own to Boston to pursue her dreams in art, and she doesn't just succumb to a small town life with her father and her ex-boyfriend, Justin, who seems to only care about himself.
The book circles around a small group of friends, who have accepted Emma into their lives and they have helped her throughout the book with any trouble or problems she runs into. The friends are Jess (The BFF), Jason (The BFF's BF), Gavin (Club Bouncer/Enforcer of all things) and Breck ...ahhh Breck....
Breck is strong, masculine, tan, has steele blue eyes and in the words of the auther "recklessly handsome".
I mean the things he says to her!

I really really really enjoyed reading Ash to Steele. Karen-Anne Stewart is an excellent writer. However, I have to be a bit nit-picky about some things. I gave this book 4 out 5 stars and the only reason it's not a 5 is for the reasons below:
The cover-Sadly, I am one of the people who judge books by their covers. While the model on the front of the book is cute, I'm picturing Breck as unbelievably HOT. Visualization is a big deal for me. I'm picturing someone along the lines of Coltyn Haynes
The chastising- I feel like Breck was often picking on on Emma's beliefs. He made alot of assumptions about her because her father is a preacher..the worst part was she never seemed to stick up for herself and say "Hey don't judge me!"
Book Balance- I really did enjoy the entire book, but I felt a strong disconnect from the beginning and the end of it. The beginning of the book was all about the chase, and I get that, I actually love that...but then all of a sudden at the end, ALL kinds of crazy starts happening. It was a lot to process.
All-in-all I can't wait to read more from this author! Thank you for allowing me to review it!

I really enjoyed Ash to Steel! I have read Karen-Anne's other books and I thought it was really awesome that I could still see the author in this very different book!
I would recommend the reader be at least 18 before reading this book because the profanity and sex scenes have been ramped up in this one! Nothing trashy, in my opinion.
Breck is this rough sexy guy that had my panties slipping off as well as pretty much every gal he runs into in the book, LOL. He doesn't date, or get close to anyone except by chance, which is why he has the couple friends he does have. He has this blunt way about him that doesn't seem to faze the chicks. Everyone wants a taste of Breck. Everyone except Emma...well at least she tries to make herself think that!
Emma is a girl many can identify with, I think. She's from a small southern town that is practically suffocating her with it's limitations on achieving her dreams. Her boyfriend and friend since she was super young, is part of the problem, and she just has to get away. She goes to Boston to reach for the stars and achieve her goals of becoming a successful painter, and ends up getting way more than she bargained for! She's got a great group of friends that would kill for her and that's how she meets Breck!
My favorite characters were Emma and Gavin, with Breck not far behind! I love that Emma is a normal gal...not overly showy; someone the average girl reader can connect with. Gavin, while he is described as white...I have no idea why but I pictured this big muscular Afro-American brute of a man with a heart of gold that would do anything for his friends! Isn't t weird how when you read a book and even witht he character descriptions, your brain sometimes, changes them all together?
While Ash to Steel does have a religious aspect; it doesn't shove it down your throat and is not the main selling point. Emma is a preacher's daughter, and Breck is hell bent on making her fall from grace at one point! Actually, if I had to choose one thing to make this book even better, it would be a little bit more of an explanation Breck gives for his issues he has with Emma's beliefs. While, he has been through a lot, I would have liked maybe a little more expansion on the subject...but in no way does this hurt the book, I don't think.
I love the closeness between Jess, Gavin, Breck and Emma...and even Jason too, really.
The villains within the book were hate-able, and at one point, I wanted to scratch some eyes out!!
All in all, this is a another hit-it-out-of-the-ball-park by one of my favorite authors, Karen-Anne Stewart! I liked that she was able to write something entirely different from her previous works and still see "her" in it, ya know?
When this hits the shelves, I highly recommend you give Ash to Steel a whirl...you won't be disappointed!

This story in one word, AMAZING! In my opinion, Ms. Stewart develops top-notch bestseller list quality work! NO FUCKING JOKE! The way that she can weave words together easily sucks you right into the story. Ash to Steele is by far my favorite book by Ms. Stewart and this story will stay with me for awhile.
“There is a consequence for every choice you make.” –Emma
This quote pretty much sums up the underlining meaning behind this story. Ash to Steele is written in alternating POV’s between Breck and Emma. Emma left her hometown behind her when she moved to Boston, hoping that her career as an artist would blossom. She is the daughter of a pastor and at the age 23-23, she’s still a virgin. Although she isn’t sexually active, her urges and desires are very intense.
When she meets Breck, she quickly becomes infatuated with him. Emma is extremely intelligent and knows that a player like Breck is not someone she should ever fantasize about or encounter, but she just can’t resist him. On the other hand, Breck has HUGE demons of his own to deal with. He was forced to make decisions that ultimately made him who is now as a
character.
Let’s talk about Breck for a minute…
Breck Steele is 100% BOOK BOYFRIEND MATERIAL! He‘s a hot, womanizing, dominate and gorgeous man. He has a successful career as a restaurant owner; he drives a motorcycle, is a fighter by nature and has some tattoos. He’s sometimes a little aggressive and extremely possessive. He’s also protective, loving and caring to those he chooses to include in his life.
You can only imagine how a relationship between Breck and Emma might end up…
Ash to Steele is a crazy ride, but oh so worth the read! This book is filled with a lot of intense scenes and dramatic moments that make it very hard to put the book away. I'm recommending that everyone give this one a chance. I think those that enjoy books similar to Jamie McGuire’s, Beautiful Disaster series will seriously love Ash to Steele! I highly doubt many readers will be disappointed after finishing this book because Ash to Steele has everything you could ever want in a New Adult Romance. Period.

This story in one word, AMAZING! In my opinion, Ms. Stewart develops top-notch bestseller list quality work! NO FUCKING JOKE! The way that she can weave words together easily sucks you right into the story. Ash to Steele is by far my favorite book by Ms. Stewart and this story will stay with me for awhile.

This quote pretty much sums up the underlining meaning behind this story. Ash to Steele is written in alternating POV’s between Breck and Emma. Emma left her hometown behind her when she moved to Boston, hoping that her career as an artist would blossom. She is the daughter of a pastor and at the age 23-23, she’s still a virgin. Although she isn’t sexually active, her urges and desires are very intense.
When she meets Breck, she quickly becomes infatuated with him. Emma is extremely intelligent and knows that a player like Breck is not someone she should ever fantasize about or encounter, but she just can’t resist him. On the other hand, Breck has HUGE demons of his own to deal with. He was forced to make decisions that ultimately made him who is now as a
character.
Let’s talk about Breck for a minute…
Breck Steele is 100% BOOK BOYFRIEND MATERIAL! He‘s a hot, womanizing, dominate and gorgeous man. He has a successful career as a restaurant owner; he drives a motorcycle, is a fighter by nature and has some tattoos. He’s sometimes a little aggressive and extremely possessive. He’s also protective, loving and caring to those he chooses to include in his life.
You can only imagine how a relationship between Breck and Emma might end up…
Ash to Steele is a crazy ride, but oh so worth the read! This book is filled with a lot of intense scenes and dramatic moments that make it very hard to put the book away. I was more than happy to give this NA romance a go because I was already a fan of this author's previous work... The Saving Rain Trilogy. This book is very different from the Trilogy and I was impressed with how the author was able to have me rooting for the bad boy when usually I am not a fan of this type of character.
Emma and Breck come from opposite sides of the tracks, so to speak. I loved how they both kind of helped fill in each others blanks. They both grew stronger as individuals by taking a chance on someone who is different than themselves.
Emma comes from small town Christian values and she is the daughter of a preacher. She decides to make the brave decision to move to the city because she feels that she just needs more than what her small town can give her.
Breck has had a difficult life and has no desire to love women... he uses them and dumps them faster than you can blink. But, when he meets Emma he is for the first time faced with emotions that he doesn't want but at the same time cannot avoid.
I was not a fan of Breck initially. I don't like womanizing characters and his judgmental attitude towards Emma and her Christian values really kind of made me angry. But, as we get to slowly learn more about him and when he realizes that Emma is not just a woman he can use and toss away we start to see the good guy underneath all of the dark. And, by the end of the book he did win me over.
I could very easily relate to Emma's character having come from a small town myself. I don't think people realize how hurtful and judgmental they can be when making assumptions about who you are based on where you were raised. There was nothing wrong with Emma exploring her curiosities and at the same time there was nothing wrong with her also wanting to hold on to her Christian values. There is a happy medium and I am happy to say that I think Breck and Emma both realized that finding your true self sometimes involves taking a chance and stepping outside of what you believe. Sometimes that is the only way to truly find yourself and where you belong.
Overall, this book has intriguing main characters, a nice collection of supporting characters that you both like and dislike, and has an engaging and sometimes emotional storyline. And, yes it is a stand alone!
I would recommend this one to all of those NA Romance fans out there who like a bad boy with a good heart. :)

First I have to say that this book is my favorite of Karen-Anne Stewarts’ books. I liked the Rain Trilogy, but this book…I could just tell how much she has grown as an author. I loved ASH TO STEELE.
First it is written in first person, which I prefer and the switch in POVs was spaced perfectly.
The switch did not happen at every other chapter.
When I started to read the book, I thought oh no the story was going to be told to me instead of allowing me to feel and come up with my own assumptions about the characters’ feelings. It started like that and then the writing and/or story turned. I am not sure which, but at about 13%, I could not stop reading. Yes this story is one that has been told a 100 times, but it had very likable characters and I felt like the angst was not manufactured.
Emma moves to Boston from a small town in South Carolina. She goes to a bar where her friend Jess works. One night while visiting Jess at work she runs into Breck. Breck is a man whore and has no problem being one. Emma knows Breck reputation and wants no part of it. However, soon Emma becomes part of a tight group of friends that Breck is part of and slowly they become friends. They begin to learn a lot about the other and Emma notices that there is more to Breck that he lets the “public” see. Breck has a past that only few know about and he knows that if his past comes back it may literally hurt Emma.
Yes this sounds like every other book you have probably read, but there are certain things that the author writes in the story that had me thinking and not wanting to stop reading. I loved Breck’s friends, but one. I was and I am still leery of Jess. I was not always sure of Jess’s intentions from her little comments here and there. Jess bothered me a lot. However, she and my irritation with her did not take away from the actual story.
I loved how Breck was a good friend to Emma and the relationship went from friendship to so much more. I needed a story like this one that was about one love that was true love. There is no pining or cheating. Just a simple love story told very well. The title is perfect which the reader finds out later what it all means.
To Karen-Anne: I am so glad you wrote this book in first person. You did an amazing job with this story. I can tell that you put a lot of effort and time into this one.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I must say she has a very easy penmanship. She knows how to start a story, build a story and end a story well. The character development was excellent.
Breck was the typical bad boy. Total man-whore. Shagged women, no repeats. He had a cocky arrogance about him, a shrewd businessman, a fighter. He had his eye on Emma from the first moment he saw her. He played with her feelings, he toyed with her but he pursued her. Like all alpha men in books, he had a past. A secret past that we didn’t get to see until towards the end of the book. When you find out about his demons, other parts of this book will fall into place.
Emma was determined to leave her old mundane small-hick town life and move to the city. She wanted to do things her way. She was tired of settling and wanted to spread her wings. She was fiercely loyal, could stand up for herself, had a stubborn streak but she also couldn’t resist Breck. No matter how many times her head told her to run, her legs decided to go with her heart and she kept moving towards him.
One thing I did particularly like was the fact that despite Breck being a total slut, and getting his end away with whichever slutty girl was willing, he never actually vowed to stay in that lifestyle. This was an emotionally challenged young man that, I think, was open to the idea of everlasting love, he just hadn’t found the right girl up until he met Emma. So many times we read book where the man is adamant that he is unlovable and will never settle down and yet they all do in the end!
Emma didn’t want to tame Breck, she accepted him for who he was, warts and all. I liked that about her. She didn’t judge.
Jess and Gavin were excellent secondary characters. I could see a real bro-mance with Gavin and Breck. Jess was torn between wanting to protect her innocent friend, Emma, and supporting and protecting her bestie Breck.
I think the 4 of them make a very strong friendship team, who will watch out for and stand up for each other.
All in all, I thought this book was great. I like the dynamics of the characters, I like the way the author described events so you felt you were standing in the room. I like the feelings I had while reading this….feeling proud when Emma stood her ground, feeling sad for the past, felt happy for the future. It really was a book of emotions.

I have to put my hand up and say I haven't quite finished this book yet, so my FULL review will be updated her very shortly. But what I will say is what I have read is easily classed as pretty darn fine story telling. Karen-Anne like Rob said above has extremely good penmanship, her words flow; the story very, very easy to fall into and very enjoyable to escape with.
Her characters main and indeed secondary are very three dimensional and jump off the pages into your head and pretty much become your besties whilst reading this. I like bad boys with angst, so Breck gets a major thumbs up. Another easy fave of mine, the heroine is sweet and un-assuming so also Emma gets a huge thumbs up.
I'm gutted due to personal circumstances I haven't gotten to finish this yet. But rest assured I will be consuming Ash To Steele as I am completely hooked on ALL the characters in the book and this had indeed left me so far absolutely wanting to read anything written by this woman.

Well, honestly, now I've finished this book I have to increase to offer top marks for this read. Why have I increased? Well to be honest Ashe to Steele literally ticks all my boxes for a great piece of escapism. Softer heroine that has a great personality but who isn't a doormat. Alpha male, who has a deep personality, much more to Breck than meets the eye. Secondary characters - Gavin, Jess, Justin and even Elise - (Oh my word Elise is a great 'love to hate' character - I was already 'loving' hating her but after I'd finished this oh boy that love was pure hate ;-) - she was brilliant in her self indulged behaviour.)
This is one of those books that is a little gem, it's deep, its got a great plot, it's got great characters that are very 3 dimensional. You'll be wanting to bitch slap some, drink shots with others, feel sorry, feel happy, want to jump into bed and roll naked between the sheets with the males (and yeah I am saying plural - wink wink). If you want more than just a good NA sexy romance then this will send you and your kindles into happy mode for sure.

Karen-Anne Stewart has been a favorite author of mine since I read The Rain Trilogy. (In fact if you are reading this on my blog, look to the right in the sidebar and scroll down just a tad, you will see her books right there, that is how much I love them.) When I was offered the chance to read Ash To Steele, I jumped at the chance, pushing all other books aside and reading this in just one day (342 pages).
I loved Ash To Steele just as much as I loved The Rain Trilogy. In the beginning, I thought there was no way Breck was going to take Kas’s place in my heart, but then we get down into Breck, into what makes him tick, why he feels the way he does, why he pulls back and looks down in a way on certain subjects, and I easily became a huge Breck fan and was rooting for him and Emma.
Emma is a preachers daughter from a small town who has struck out on her own to experience life. She has made a good friend in Jess, who I really liked. Jess seems to be the complete opposite of Emma, I say seems to be because there is definitely more to Emma than just a small town simple girl. (Not that we small town girls are actually simple, we just give off that illusion.)
Breck is one of those guys who if he came up behind you and whispered sweet nothings into your ear, he would have shivers rolling down your body. He is hot and he does not want to be attached, he takes what he wants from women and I get the feeling they do the same with him.
Somehow these two seemingly opposite type people have this crazy chemistry, an intense attraction, and it sucked me in and did not let up until the very last page of the epilogue. There is so much going on. So much that makes up who each character is. And when the point comes where you understand what the title of the book is all about, you will be flinching.
Amazing story. Beautiful heart wrenching ride. No cliff hanger. I loved this book.
Karen-Anne. You are such a talented writer and I am anxiously awaiting what comes next from you! I cannot wait!!!

September 8, 2014I won't be rating this as I didn't finish it. But from what I've read so far, I can honestly say I can't continue. The characters -- Emma & Brent -- aren't exactly my favorite. I could probably say I'll come back to this but let's be honest I lost interest too quickly within the first chapters.
The following is a short rant about why I didn't enjoy this...
Now that the rant is over...I want to say It probably gets better (or not) after the initial chapters. Who knows? I, for one, am moving on to something better.
