Donna goes to New York City to find her friend, Lorna. Mystery surrounds everyone she meets as she tries to find Lorna. She finally meets Father Luke who seems to know of the man, Andrew McKennon, whom Lorna spoke of in her last letter but Father Luke reveals little. Being a well-brought-up Catholic girl, Donna is appalled by her feelings and awareness of Father Luke. What is she to do? Will she find Lorna or must she do as Father Luke says and ask no questions, take it on blind faith?
The story was okay. I liked Luke but he was mysterious and with a little more trust on both sides some of the complications in their relationship could have been avoided. Donna was harder for me to like. She was not as developed for me. The relationship between them moved very quickly so it was hard for me to believe their feelings were so deep that marriage came up as quickly as it did especially since Luke had suffered a serious loss in his life. This is not my favorite story by Heather Graham.
Donna is so stubborn. When her friend disappears, she goes to New York to find her. No one wants to help her. When she goes into a dangerous area, a man comes to her rescue. Luke is a priest and knows the area well. When he sees a woman being robbed, he steps in. She is a beautiful woman and seems intelligent, but she seems to have no sense of her own personal safety. Luke seems to know all about her friend, Lorna, but he isn't talking. If she can get him to help, can she trust him? He may be a priest, but she isn't sure that he is trustworthy. Will she find her friend?
I read this book to fulfill a challenge to read a book published the year I was born. It was definitely written for an older generation, because it felt like I was continuously walking in on my grandparents making out. The heat was very low, and for this I’m kind of grateful. The plot was…interesting, I guess. I can see where my mom or grandma would have absolutely loved this book. It just wasn’t for me.
I had almost no idea what was going on-and I hate the feeling of knowing what's gonna happen, so I loved it. Only thing it left me wanting is more extrapolation of the various story layers. Considering today's fascination, this could've been a series, not unlike a very popular similar tv series.
Good story line. Just enough romance without distraction from the mystery. Good lead characters. Very good use of setting to add to the mystery and suspense.
A little overdone on the secrecy which turned out to be not that big of a deal. The characters (except lead female) were underdeveloped and didn't quite contribute to the story, except when Andrew spilled the beans. It was an ok read though.

Generally enjoy this author, but could not get past the lack of plot and the simpering heroine and her constant "OMG, I am so attracted to him" drivel.
