A woman is brutally slain and discarded in a secure construction site. She’s discovered wrapped in a silk sheet, wearing nothing but expensive diamond earrings. No one knows how she got there.

When Detective Lena Wolf gets the call to investigate, her department is already stretched thin canvassing a multi-body dump site in the forest at the edge of Fox County. That means she’s going solo to catch the killer.

The very first clue? An ominous call to the Medical Examiner’s Office from a man claiming to know Jane Doe. Receptionist Reese Mitchell uses gossip and pranks to keep the morbid aspects of her job at bay, but when the calls keep coming and the killer setting his sights on her, she can’t keep up that flippant facade. Terrified and helpless, she puts her safety in Lena’s hands.

With everyone else still in the forest, Lena is the only one who can protect Reese. Guarding her night and day, Lena meets the real Reese no one else has, and falls for her.

There’s only one problem. There’s a killer running around Fox County, and he’s picked his next target.

Can Lena throw him behind bars before Reese becomes his latest victim?

Cara Malone continues the Fox County Forensics series in fine style with Detective Lena Wolf and the receptionist for the M.E's Office, Reese Mitchell. Murder, threatening phone calls and a protection order bring the women together in this quick read. As the murder investigation deepens, threats intensify and the attraction heats up in this twisty thriller. A mundane job is anything but, throw in suspense, a murder solved and love found and we have another neat addition to Malone's hit series. What's not to like? Easily recommend.

An awful murder that has to be investigated. An awful murderer that must be brought to justice. And a not-so-awful attraction that adds some romance.

This is Book Eight of The Fox County Forensics Series. What a great mystery and love story between Reese and Lena. Detective Lena Wolf catches her first case, the murder and dumping of Olivia Sterling, who was a Jane Doe until Reese Reese recv'd a mysterious phone call at the morgue telling her, her name.
Was that the murderer? Reese is terrified so Lena gets her a protective detail, which includes herself.
A page turner and great who done it! HOT ! 5 stars!

good

I’ve been waiting for Reese’s story since the beginning of this series as I liked her as a character. And finally it’s here! By now you pretty much know that one person in the relationship is going to end up in the thick of it. It’s also a Malone book so you know everything will work out.
Already looking forward to the next trip to Fox County.

Thrilling story

This book is part of the Fox County Forensics series, and it's another great adventure. It's a thrilling romantic story that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

Right from the beginning, I loved the chemistry between the characters, and it was great to see some familiar faces from the previous books. Although it can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the entire series for maximum enjoyment and depth.

The story's development is well-executed, and it's very engaging. I felt like the resolution of the case came a bit too quickly, but maybe that's because I was enjoying the book so much and didn't want it to end. However, there was still more to the story, and I couldn't put the book down until I had read it all.

The happy ending was perfect, and Cara Malone has done a great job with this one.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

Det. Lena Wolf has become involved in two different murder mysteries, one a serial murderer and the other the murder of Olivia
Sterling, the second-in-command of Sterling Hotels.

What gives Det. Wolf pause is that Reese Mitchell, the receptionist at the Fox County Medical Examiner's Office has been getting some pretty scary phone calls form someone who evidently knows about the Olivia Sterling murder. Of course, Det. Wolf feels responsible for protecting Reese, and throws her whole self into fulfilling that responsibility. Her whole self.

As is Cara Malone's style, the two become attracted to each other pretty quickly, which could either make things harder or easier in this murder investigation. No slow burn romance, here!

This is yet another winner from Cara Malone. She crafts these mysteries flawlessly and this one was very entertaining to read!

Guardian Angel by Cara Malone Review
Malone’s Fox County Forensics series continues with Detective Lena Wolf and Reese Mitchell, the receptionist for the M. E’s office. A murder and some threatening phone calls to Reese from someone who knows something about the murder throws them together as they work quickly to catch the killer before Reese becomes his next target. They are instantly attracted to each other, no slow burn romance here. What’s not to like with this one? Mystery, romance, and a surprise twist that I did not see coming. Cara Malone has written yet another good addition to her series with a really engaging storyline and fantastic characters. I really enjoyed this one. Definitely recommend

Suspenseful and thrilling!

This is a great addition to the Fox County series. Reese, the receptionist at the Medical Examiner's office finally gets her story when Detective Lena gives everything she has to protect Reese from a stalker/murderer.

I love Cara's writing that showcases strong, fierce women who aren't afraid to be vulnerable. She always creates a very loving circle of friends and, in this suspenseful series, a journey for her main characters that is scary, hot and truly believable. Guardian Angel is a thrilling story that I highly recommend. Actually, I recommend the entire series! Cara Malone is a terrific writer!

Another Awesome Read

Cara Malone does it again! The Fox County Forensic Series is sooooo good. This is book eight, and Cara keeps integrating her established character's as well as introducing new ones. She manages to keep everything fresh, taking previously minor characters and giving them starring rolls, and same in reverse for former main characters. You get completely vested in every one of these people. There is suspense and danger with some laughter mixed in, always with an interesting case to be solved. Eventually everything gets wrapped up to make way for the requisite happy ending. Speaking of requisite - that's what I'd say these books are - requisite reading! ☺☺☺

Just loved this book; part of the Fox County series, but can certainly be read as a standalone. Great main and supporting characters, interesting plot of a body found at a construction site and the detective put in charge of the case, Lena; falling for the receptionist at the ME’s office, Reese. Really engaging storyline and kept me interested all the way through. Would highly recommend.

Lena is investigating her first murder case solo and she promises herself to solve this case, especially after Reese receives unwanted phone calls. Lena and Reese get to know one another during the investigation. It was more a thriller than a romance story. Like the murder mystery solved Lena and Reese get their HEA.

Protect and Serve

Detective Lena Wolf has Ger first case when the naked body of a woman is found at a construction site. When she goes to the ME’s office she meets Reese, the receptionist, when a man calls to ID the body. As they get to know each other, strong feelings evolve and Lena realises that she’ll do anything to protect Reese. A great story and mystery.

Good book

Things are never dull at Fox County. Detective Lena Wolf gets her chance to fine the bad guy. But the main reason she takes guarding the Medical Examiner reception into her own custody she like her and want to protect her when she gets a stalker. A good book to read.

A GREAT READ

Cara always delivers in her books. I especially like the Fox County Law Enforcement and ME office stories. I forgot to watch for couples that go on the Gilligan’s Island cruise, I read it first. Now my poor memory of books I’ve read has come back to haunt me.

Thrilling

A very thrilling story with a few twists. I have always liked Reese's character and I'm so happy to see her story. Lena has a very commanding presence and will stop at nothing to protect Reese. Even though I missed a few books in the series I was still able to pick up with all the characters. Great book and it held my attention so much that I finished it in 2 days. Can't wait for the next one.
