I'm Kyle West, author of the Wasteland Chronicles, Xenoworld Saga, Starsea Cycle, and more. I try to write books with lots of action and crazy twists to keep you turning the pages. Every book of mine can be categorized as "science fantasy," blending elements from both genres.
As a whole I found that this series has grown on me, I enjoy the setting and the characters that exist in this universe. My opinion may be a little biased because I consider myself a huge fan of the post apocalyptic genre. I feel a lot of other goodreads members would be a lot less forgiving then me with some of the flaws this series has. That being said I find that most of these titles do not stand well on their own. In fact this series suffers from pacing issues, which could be overlooked if you examine this series as a whole. Unfortunately with the sixth book the story suffers from repetitiveness and hiccups with inconsistency.
As of the sixth installment of this series I will say that this book was a big of a drag for me. It kind of makes me wish the writer would just wrap things up and cut to the chase. I don't like how one location is revisited over and over again. The mysteriousness of this certain location lost it's magical appeal after the main crew traveled there for the fifth or sixth time in the same book. Also I want to add when a certain character dies, I was astounded and confused as to why everyone was so teary eyed over the death. Especially when all but a handful of characters knew of this individuals existence. I mean this is suppose to be the cruel harsh apocalyptic wasteland, where mostly everyone is hardened to death and misery. People die everyday and slavery is accepted among almost everyone, why would blood thirsty raiders even flinch over a single sacrificed death?
Then there is the problem of the poor writing in regards to the allegiance with two blood thirsty tyrants. This part lacked the tension and uneasiness when I envisioned the eventual teaming up of the good guys and the bad guys. Trust is given among enemies so freely that I barely cared where the story was going any more. Which is a huge shame considering tense allegiances were handled slightly better before the sixth book. As of this post I have started the final seventh volume, which I can say is a step up from this book.
Now that I am reaching this books final conclusion I would like to add that this series has been a part of a long buddy read among fantastic friends. If it wasn't for the amazing friends I have on this website, I wouldn't of read such amazing books this summer. A huge big thanks to Lisa, Mehmet, and Krystle, because I had a really fun book filled summer that I will never forget. Buddy Reads really are a lot of fun and if you haven't tried one yet I recommend getting to know one of the fantastic members who frequent this website and giving it a shot!
Here is a link to a great buddy read thread that is coming to a bitter sweet end. Thank you for all of the memories guys! We must do this again real soon. Link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I didn't think I would read all these books so quickly. This whole series has been so good, hard to put down. Now I have to wait for the final book. :(
Kyle West has done a remarkable job with this series. Action, adventure, numerous creatures(some good, some bad), danger at almost every true, sadness, but also love and happiness.
Outstanding!!
Looking forward to the final installment to be released.
This was another great read I'm really enjoying this series and although some characters have redeemed themselves (Makara) . Some have not but I did like the wedding they needed to be reminded that there are some thing worth having . So on to the next and last book in this series .
7 books in 14 days. Once I started I never wanted to stop. An epic journey in small span of 3 months in the book. Love the world building and character development, with each new discovery led to the different ways I thought it would impact the ending. Ending was a little different than what I predicted, however it was wholesome and sad. Loved the series and can’t wait to see what the Xenoworld saga brings

The Wasteland Chronicles Book 6 of 7- 4.5 stars...
This has been such a thrilling ride with tons of ups & downs and twists & turns so I know I'm going to be sad to see it end. All good things must come to an end though and the final, big battle to save Earth and all of humanity is just about upon us- our Humans & the Elekai against the Radaskim, otherwise known as Xenofall. The Wanderer's prophecy insisted that all the warring factions must unite first if they want to have any chance in defeating the Radaskim. This is no easy feat though when there are multiple leaders and agendas in play. The Radaskim have also turned their attacks up a notch and are preparing a surprise of their own. I'm hopeful though that we'll be ready for them...Xenofall here we come! : )
We've been with these characters for six books now in Kyle West's Wastleand Chronicles Series.
Now, the final battle approaches the end is becoming all too real.
Never before have I laughed about and felt so connected to Alex and the Wasteland Gang. That's not a shot against Mr. West's writing. Rather, it is a testament to it.
I can't get into a story unless I love the characters. In "Extinction," I had a real moment of self-awareness in which I realized just how invested I now was in West's world and its inhabitants.
He has me booked and coming back for more each time. I go to the Finale of this series with bated breath!
can't stop reading. I'm so glad Anna and Alex have found each other. things are coming together. I love the action of the group fighting and finding the other in their group.
Great series that should have ended with Extinction. Call me romantic, but to me me the wedding marked the beginning of a good, happy end. I was dismayed to learn of Ashton's death coming out of nowhere, absolutely uncalled for, to then be thrown into utter depression by the crimson dark ending...

The characters are more fully developed and the story is more interesting, compelling, and fleshed out. Definitely enjoy the later books more than the earlier books.
Each volume gets better and better. These books are not just entertainment. They are filled with life's mysteries, joys, tragedies and more. Looking forward to the next book.
I didn't make it through this series. I want to know how it ends, but after several books of basically the same exact things happening and little forward progress, I got bored and gave up.
