Pursuing a stage career as a means of escaping a terrible past, Raven Chadwick meets Marcus Bannerman, the enigmatic Earl of Stafford, who awakens a passion in Raven that becomes threatened when she learns a devastating secret. Original.
Don’t get me wrong...I love my husband...but I’ve spent a lifetime caught in a passionate affair. My lover taunts, teases, enrages, thrills, amuses, and ultimately satisfies. His name? Language. Readers, you know what I’m talking about. Whether written, spoken, or sung, words entice me as no other human invention could ever do. Okay, music is a close second; when you put the two together, the result is sublime.
Like most writers, I came to this devilish profession through a love of reading. I’ve worked as a crime reporter, teacher, librarian - challenges all. They culminated in the creation of stories of my own, both contemporary and historical. My wish is that you let them seduce you
I live in San Antonio with my husband, dote on five grandsons, and travel whenever and wherever I can. My photo was taken on the dock in Liverpool, England, in front of a modern sculpture of a “lamb-banana,” the artist’s whimsical cross between a lamb and a banana. This was shortly before an emotional trip to the boyhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
I think was this was the second in a series of books about three sisters by Evelyn Rogers, but I've yet to read them all. One day I will, because Raven was a great read.
This one had a little bit of everything: of course, romance, and the chemistry between Marcus & Raven is sizzling, but there's also adventure, painful tragedy, with a touch of gothic intrigue.
Raven, an American living in England, is broken woman with a tainted past. She has to learn to let go and become the mature, independent woman and actress she always wanted to be.
Marcus Bannerman is just the man she needs. He is wealthy and arrogant nobleman, but he can be a kind understanding man and is a very patient and dedicated lover. Marcus is so sensual and the dialogue between him and Raven was so steamy!
I've read several books by Evelyn Rogers, and I'm always impressed. This was her one of her best books so far! 4 1/2 stars!
This was a decent book, and I liked the mien of the hero: he was an interesting combination of mild, lusty, and self-deprecating. I would have given this a full three stars, but I spent almost the entire book under the assumption that the heroine I don't know, it just seemed like kind of a cop out.
